  • Hot Dogs anyone?

  • I am impressed by the special effects in this movie made in 1982 using latex rubber etc.. I am also impressed by the computer generated special effects. I think many movies nowadays rely too much on the computer generated special effects to the detriment of the movie. (For e.g. Jar Jar binx in star wars 1) The Thing 2011 is an exception. Imagine if the FX artists continued to expand and progress upon the art styles used in this movie. Could be good used in conjunction with computer animation.

  • @DOOMMAN81 I wish you-d like spelling as much as you love your dog. That is, a lot.

  • a thing that copye's other life forms . sounds like ditto from pokemon :D

  • they burn it for like 2 seconds then put it. yea, thatll show it who's boss

  • that idiot touches the thing with the pointer and then he touches his mouth :X

  • @TheHornyGorrilaz No. Nazis are all on the moon. YouTube Iron Sky trailer lol

  • If that thing did that to my dogs i would have burnt it to where it was barley alive and couldn't move. Then i would cut it up into little bits very very very slowly... I love my dogs alot :)

  • i find it funny how they doubt the facts when the findings are right on their face haha

  • Quick! Airlift flame throwers to that Russian science expedition in the Antarctic! ;)

  • I would have let that thing burn for at least another five minutes

  • @dopguru

    yeah, double tap afterwards.

  • fallout 3 flamethrower anybody?

  • didnt they axcidently destroy the ship in the orignal?

  • this was like ridiculously good to eat too

  • The dog scene is a prime example as to why you don't use CGI. The 2011 movie used nothing but CGI and it made it look too unrealistic. In these older movies, they took the time to make puppets and real life effects, which is what made these movies so awesome. The 2011 movie was not that bad as far as the plot goes. The acting was horrible and the special effects were ridiculous.

  • @MrGhostblood

The behind the scenes of the 2011 showed mechanics but smoothed over with CGI.

  • Why does Childs keep saying voodoo bullshit? I mean what part of aliens sounds like voodoo? I can understand something like "weird, strange, stupid," anything lol but saying voodoo was just one of those things that didn't fit.

  • ANY one who loves this movie is awesome!

  • @Wisdomwithnopain well count me as awesome!

  • that is captain anderson where is commander shepard when you need him

  • @190shepard I love mass effect so please explain? :)

  • omg. some dogs died:( fuck sakes.

  • Today's horror movies don't scare me like The Thing does. With that said, I think I'm about to see my dinner come up the way it went down. Ugh.

  • i think i need to puke..

  • a splendid horror recognized by the world

  • oh man at the 2:26 part I was about to eat dinner...yeah not after seeing that!

  • I wonder if the creators of dead space got any necromorph of ideas from this film.

  • @Japaneseanimeguy ..sure he did.

  • @Japaneseanimeguy YOU I LIKE!

  • @Wisdomwithnopain Cause I notice how similar certain Necromorph stuff is to this film that came more than 10 years before the first game? Or is this abvout the dog? Or maybe you've just got the wrong person?

  • wow i wonder if all scientific secluded bases n antartica have flamethrowers and like a dozen rifles

  • 11 ppl don't like that one dog lived :[

  • @cbkfuzzywolf The remaining dog could be infected. It only takes one thing for it to get into major population centres.

  • @Japaneseanimeguy awwwwwwwwwww :[ but its a puppy but yea i know v.v

  • Can anyone tell me if, at the 29 second to 42 second period, the creature that separates with the arms with claws actually escapes to the outside? Is that how we should interpret what happens here, that this part of the creature gets away?

  • @eribalsch No. the creature used those long arms to escape through the ceiling but it did not separate from it's body. You can clearly see Childs pointing the flame-thrower upwards and when he fired he shot at the thing on the ceiling.

  • this movie is the part 2 of the history

  • TORCH IT! then exinguish half a second after. Foolproof!

  • @The1AndOnlyDannyBro I was thinking the exact same thing!

  • and noone would have gotten to it before the test was conducted

  • ... the blare/thing was out of sight, and therefore, not on anyone's mind at the moment this whole movie would have ended 15 minutes from that scene if mcready (the one that seems to be the guy who's at a smart-off with the thing, acording to a few comments i've read) or someone would have said, "ok, is there any test we can make to see if it got to any one of us? now that everyone is here, and noone is alone with anyone?" the other guy would have suggested the blood... (almost done, I swear)

  • ... (continued from last post) there were only two things in this camp at the time norris and palmer, which later could have gotten the doc at any time, but what about the rest of the people? I think they are 11, minus 3 things (ok, lets say it got blare) there were 8 people who didnt think "hey, what if it got one of us?" it isnt until one of the "dead" things tries to assimilate another guy when mcready says "well, it got at least one of us... fuck" and everything that goes on is because...

  • how can these people be so stupid? the doc tells EVERYONE that they have an imitating monster, and everyones goes like "ok, I guess we got it, huh?" and the doc clearly suspected clark was infeted, and he didnt say anything? no "hey, maybe we can conduct some test to see if it got anyone else?" because saying "lets go where this horrible, horrible thing came from" is stupid, and thats what blare did and dont give me that "he was infected" bullshit because... (will continue on next post)

  • Yay, one of the doggies survived!

  • @SnooglebumExists how old r u????

  • @Blackjack2099 Judging from your spelling and grammar, older then you.

  • @SnooglebumExists You mean the "Not so dog" one that escaped from the roof ?

Because the only dog that could have survived got shot with a shotgun for no reason -_-

  • @SnooglebumExists Wait I just noticed the dog ACTUALLY survived after getting shot

    LOL wtf

  • @ThePredatordark Unfortunately, all surviving doggies are eventually killed.

  • @SnooglebumExists But they put him to death.

  • @Yay248 I can dream, can't I?

  • @SnooglebumExists LOL then why would you make that comment at all?

  • @Yay248 BECAUSE I CAN DREEEEAAAAAAAMMMMMMMMM

  • @SnooglebumExists Haha I know I know. I wish the dog was alive.

  • @SnooglebumExists Two actually.

  • @SnooglebumExists 2 actually

  • thats the fasted kill evar

  • From the only time I saw this (first run in 1982) through when I first saw it again on YouTube a year ago I ALWAYS got the willies with the "jet engine" sound effect right before the "portable mouth" is about to attack Chiles at 00:56 .

  • Never understood why there was NO search footage for the part of THE THING that escaped through the ceiling. Hmmm. I think that part of THE THING later infects the DOC who's been banished outside after his shenanigans in the laboratory with the gun. A part overlooked? :-)

  • Suddenly lost my appetite around 30 seconds into this part. Brilliant film.

  • Probably just a troll, guys. Either way, I recommend nuking the IP location from Orbit; it's the only way to be sure.

    Oh wait, wrong movie.

  • Imagine if the thing got a hold of Godzilla o.O

  • I don't give a shit what any of you animal-hating, insensitive, ignorant cunts say. Animal cruelty in films is fucking disgusting. Unlike humans, dogs are innocent, and don't deserve to be dragged into this sick shit.

  • @MEareCAT None of the dogs were harmed.

  • @MEareCAT Dogs don't do much aside from being humanities playmates. SO frankly, I could give less of a shit about dogs then cats. Asia had the right idea about making them into cuizine food for us to eat. We might as well round up all the stray dogs/cats in the world and give them a swift end then following that butcher them to feed the hungry. There, I just had an idea to solve world hunger and saving strays from living a useless existence.

  • @XxCalypsoxX616

...asian alert anyone? its sounds like a COMMUNIST SUPPORTER!!!!!!!!!! lmfao jk..i had a idea that popped in my head, much like urs..and used it to make people laugh, be a dick toward..or actually agree to.....meh....i think we should use some kinda fish..or rats..or bugs...PLENTY of those [non-diseased of course]...at least u like pussy...yep..i love pussy....id eat it for breakfast lunch and dinner...yumm

  • @MEareCAT You are being very emotional and very stupid. Like others have said, NO dogs were harmed and it is very necessary for a movie. If a dog gets eaten by a Lion or bear you gonna hate on them and Nature because it never gave the dog a chance?

    Dumb girl.

  • @seafireliv

    hahahahahhahahahhahahhahahahahahhahaa

  • @MEareCAT First of all, it's a movie. AKA "not real life". Second, don't start with the anti-humanism BS. The vast majority of humans would't deserve this "sick shit" either.

  • @MEareCAT wait so your saying you would rather see a man be brutalie mardered rather than a dog , really...wow thts kinda dumb

  • @Mattz511 Well in movie's humans want to see humans die for our sick amusement, but when it is something that has no self defense, we feel sad (we're so sick).

  • zuul mothe flametrower fucker.

  • They just found the Millennium Falcon. (6:58)

  • LOL It's Ditto!!!

  • I sure hope that flamethrowers are standard issue at all Arctic and Antarctic bases...

  • @rightwingliberal1

    i know where im moving

  • @rightwingliberal1

Lotta ice around, case of ice barrage, burn it.

  • When they go to the crash site we see Mac and Norris, but who is the third person?

  • @DudeLebowski2011 Palmer

  • At 2:19 the guys like "i have located the vagina"

  • damn where are the men in black (MIB) when you need them? noisy crickets, neuralyzers and everything

  • lol maybe its the nazi's , ever watch nazi ufo conspiracies?

  • Is this an old movie or is this teh new one 2011??

  • @500Veloz seriously man??? clearly 1980's

  • I'm scared of my dog now.

  • when man dies - "haha what an idiot"

when woman dies - "lol bitch deserved it, who told her to go in there"

when dog dies - "YOU MOTHERFUCKER, YOU GOING DOWN NOW"

  • 03:00 DID HE JUST PUT THAT TEST SAMPLE IN HIS MOUTH?!

  • @MrGodzillahin Yea, I hated it when Blair touches the remains with his pencil then touches the pencil with his mouth! I only noticed this about the 3rd time watching the film, but I thought, "Oh! that`s when he turned into the Thing! What a dumb thing to do!"

Also it goes against all Medical practise to put something to your mouth when you`ve been messing with a dead body. :(

  • @seafireliv yeah seemd so unprofessional i had to caps it^^

  • @seafireliv One of the practices of finding out what the contents of someone's urine used to be was to taste it... so that might have been around the same time of this film..yuck

  • @S4disticJ0k3r

You think all the people frommthe 1980s were primitives? lol!

Ahem, i`m from around the 1980s and no, no one does that, even then.

The Doc was just forgetful I guess.

  • @seafireliv I'm not sure when they stopped using it but it is an effective technique for detecting problems in the urine especially in cases where for determining if someone is diabetic. Urine is sterile and can't harm you(fyi I have never done this lol)

  • The cowboy hat rules!

  • @xArmyOfMetalx Every limb is an individual creature that has it own mind, just burn it.....

  • I used to kill aliens like those guys, but then i took a arrow to the knee.

  • @joujou264 ...makes sense...

  • Dude, get longer gloves. Like the ones they use to stick their arm up cows asses to feel the organs.

  • that lien looks like a failed abortion

  • I like the details, like the space ship door remains open like the prequel :)

  • 02:59 do not put that pencil in your mouth !

  • @seva809 i think blaire was already an alien at this point

  • @100mmatte True Even Stuart Cohen (the Thing co-producer) confirmed Blair had been infected before autopsy.

  • Comment removed

  • The dog thing is grim, but adds a serious tone and defining mark to the film.

Carpenter didn`t want something childish, he wanted something real. To get REAL you gotta get SERIOUS. that means the evil villian of a movie must be truly bad. It not only kills Humans, but doesn`t give a fuck about anything else, including DOGS and will watse them just as easily as anyone else, thus defining the character of the monster and the movie.

No pussy-footing gentle crap here. It`s like what if it was real?

  • @seafireliv hey ya know what's funny, both characters who were with macready at the alien spaceship scene at 7:32 turned out to be the alien.

  • @100mmatte I KNOW! THATS CRAZY, look at the way palmer stands next to the hole where the block of ice was. its like he was saying...."this is where they found me". its like the creature wanted to tell the story of its beginning but didnt wanna die in the process.

  • @100mmatte at the crashsite:

    norris: this was my ship

palmer: this is where they found me

palmer, norris and blair: and that wrecked norwegian camp is what happens when you f*ck with me!

  • @prime513 norris and blaire were aliens the whole movie. norris when the dog touched himn that shadow, and blaire when he did autopsies on all thos aliens

  • @prime513 i think norris ate copper's hands off because copper suggested to do an autopsie on the splitface alien. which was norris's friend cuz he was the alien.

  • @100mmatte Norris bit off copper's hands because of self defence. It was feeling the shock of the defibrillator. it's also clear that the alien doesn't care about it's comrades. Palmer, already infected, back stabbed the Norris-head thing just to appear more human in front of everyone else.

  • @seafireliv agreed, Some people watched this and couldn't handle it cuz they're dog lovers. In a horror film NOTHING is safe

  • Comment removed

  • @DudeLebowski2011

Yea, that`s partly why I like watching horror films (at least when American). They are the one kind of movie where man, woman dog and evn child aren`t safe. That`s why it`s horror.

Ordinary Hollywood films are so `safe` and prictable I often switch off halfway. Any film where the dog (or woman even) is magically `safe` I know is going to be boring and predictable.

But when I don`t know who`s going to survive, if anybody, then I`m hooked.

  • @seafireliv

lol dude tell that to MEareCat....sounds like a bitchy blonde chick who is very far from the perfume section of youtube.....must have looked at monster ugly faces or something and found this somehow.....hehe dogs r innocent...i bet she didnt even read old yeller..o wait she cant read shes a dumb bitch...wow i cant wait to get a hate message back..anyways sorry dude for commenting about another person to u..just playing my role in this corrupted world we live in

  • @slayerT75 When people think a dog can`t be `killed` (no dogs are harmed) in a horror movie then you get a rubbish movie. Restrict yourself like that and all movies would lack any excitement at all.

Some people are so dumb when it comes to stuff like this, I agree.

  • @seafireliv

scariest scene in all horror movies.....the famous chestburster of alien, or this.....very hard choice if you seriously think about it

  • @seafireliv You... Have an amazing point of view. Real talk. It just makes you actually think that what if this shit was real? Seriously. I've thought of it myself.

  • kuy เถอะ เผาได้แปบเดียวแล้วเอาถังดับเพลิงมาดับมันจะตายให้มิงไหมควายเรียกพ่อกลัวเปลืองไฟไง

  • It looks delicious

  • Love u Kurt Russell

  • I hate have dogs but... poor dogs.

  • I woudda burn it to ashes. Ashes to ashes we all burn to ashes XD

  • What? don't extinguish the fire yet! It hasn't even stopped moving!

  • what eventually happened to the part of the dog thing that climbed through the roof

  • DIABEETUSS....

  • Hey Russell. What's with the EYE LINER?

Must have been shot during his Motley Crue stage.

  • Comment removed

  • What is the thing on the inside at 2:32?

  • Give Jesus

  • Goddamn it seems like a frigging disease a hooker wou

  • Staring into that frozen crop circle of a pit at 6:49 would be an amazing experience...provided there were no traces of spider heads lurking around, thawing out. 7:17 gives a nice Escape From New York vibe, too, with them going down a wall into an ominous place rather than climbing up out of one. Pretty masterful to be able to give a snowy wilderness and a decaying city the same atmosphere.

  • Is that Keith David??? Holy crap! XD

  • The dog scene always breaks my heart because I frigging love dogs :(

  • @jokeonyou89 I agree man. I can't watch this part of the movie. When I saw this movie for the first time years ago when I was a kid, I cried.

  • @jokeonyou89 Yeah I agree. :/

  • @jokeonyou89

why dont u take the dogs place, alot of humans died u worry about a dog. WTF

  • @jokeonyou89 - I've grown to like dogs more too, though I like cats more, but I don't like dogs that look like a cross between Roast Pork and a Dragon. ;-)

  • @jokeonyou89

Luckly, no dogs were harm during the making of this movie.

  • @jokeonyou89 i feel your pain :(

  • KILL IT WITH FIRE DAMMIT

  • I never really understood the part at roughly 2:40 onwards where Wilfred Brimley

gets upset. Is it because "the Thing" has "Diabeetus?"

  • WTF IS THAT?!?!?! 2:38

  • At 2:20 is that a monster or a large pussy ?

  • @einsteindrieu... Only you dumbass can think of that...

  • @einsteindrieu... Back at you boy...

  • Ah, i miss these movies

  • eww at 02:51 he touches the thing, then he touches his face with the probe

  • I always feel way more sad when animals die rather than humans.

  • @anniimefweakkk Honestly, I'm with you on that. I felt so sorry for the dog. I'm sorry, but if that were my dog, I'm jumpin through the cage and killin' that thing off. Not my dog.. Nope, lol.

  • damn nature you scary!

  • dos the dog die? the mans dog??

  • @boxcuber yeah sorry

  • @MrChernandez123 NOOOOOOOOOOOOO!

  • thats fucking disgusting! poor dogs.

  • Little known fact: the video they're watching is actually a scene from the original (can't remember the title)

  • @Overlord0011 The Thing From Another World.

  • at 220 thats what i see when i open up my old ladys snatch

  • lucky it crashed on the ice

  • :30 gross!!!

  • Could you please tell me what time frame within this video is the scene "The Perfect Imitation"? I know on the DVD it is scene 13 and the time is 00:34-00:36:03, however, I'm sure the time frame is changed when a film is transferred to YouTube. Thanks!

  • At least two of the dogs got away :c

  • @LightOrangeFur....wait thats not good....one of them might be infected....get a sniper rifle, jump on the helicopter and shoot the mutt down.

  • @LightOrangeFur In the original script, those dogs became infected and were originally supposed to drag Bennings into the ice and assimilate him. Of course, the scene never came to fruition.

  • @RednessAlpha Thhhhat I did not know. :0

  • at first i thaught "oh those poor dogs" but then i remembered its just a movie.

  • What ever happened to the lady that survived in the prequel?

  • @MyChris1800 They need to make 3rd movie after this one so we know what the hell happens to the lady and them.

  • @Stingerbillion Yeah, me too. I would think so, now that we have the prequel and now know what happened and then with Macready and childs. The thing prequel was actually good IMO. They went deep and had all the details down

  • @Slimkidd730 I didn't like the prequel that much but they did explain how things came to about. It would be nice if they make 3rd, but i doubt it, and even if they did, they probably will ruin it.
