Huh. An english teacher who also knows a hint of Spanish, while speaking in Japanese.
American English really depends on the region you're in. Take me for example, I'm a California boy - and I sound nothing at all like "derp, derpa, derp". Probably because I'm not a complete and total moron, unlike our government.
@Sandovart in jap, pera pera is suppose to be a term that represents fluency; thus in azumanga daioh, they didnt feel like using actual engrish and made it so u cant understand shit
@TheTraveler12 Not really, the noun "perapera" is a generic word used to stand in for foreign languages when you don't know the language yourself. "So yeah, that guy was all like, 'Watashi wa pera pera pera' and I just kicked his face in."
Just to clarify this: "Pera pera (ぺらぺら)" is a gitaigo (words mimicking states). They directly express states or actions of people and things. There are a few meanings for "pera pera" depending on the context."
@Sandovart In this case it's just "Pera" which roughly means just shes's "talking" and talking some more without it having any deeper meaning. She & the guy aaren't actually talking about anything, it's more like "sound effect".
There's also the possibility that they are just saying "Blah" with a Japanese accent, it would sound something like "Berah" or something like that, I think
