The problem with the movie was it tried to make up for lack of plot and the continuing ignorance of Transformers by the director (or simply blatant disregard) with a lot of explosions which ruined the movie. If you want to watch shit get blown up in a plotless movie, go watch a mindless action-flick.
*sigh* Two words, FREAKING LORE!!! AKA IP!!!!! Why is it that directors aswell as some companies feel the need to completely forget upholding the IP? This is why people like Games Workshop have the attitude they do about other groups working on their products. Fictional Universe (sci-fi, fantasy) creators and owners need to be more strict about who works on/with their creations and licensed products and care about the fans over making money. Disgraceful really.
And on that note, yes I did watch Transformers when I was a kid, and this movie somewhat did hold true to the generation or season 1 lore of the first series of Transformers, plot wise only, the extra stupid bits added was stupid, and well it feels like a story that went all wrong and it was poorly put together. Has so many errors in it that I don't want to go into detail, mainly they are to do with inconsistencies from one scene to the next and managed to be worse then in the Matrix.
If you are a Transformers fan, and you don't like this movie, your not a true fan. The movie holds pretty accurate to the G1 cartoon. Sure there are plot holes and the acting may not be the best. This is NOT an acadamy award winning movie, the purpose is to have fun. I love it, both movies are great. It's wonderful to see the show that I loved so much as a kid come to life. The characters hold true to their beginnings, and if ya pay attention, that's all ya need. Seeing it again!
Least we can rest assured that at least no one has touched Battletech yet. And since the rights to the franchise belong to Jordan Weisman, you can rest assured no one is going to butcher it. THANK GOD Microsoft don't own it anymore.

I saw star trek on the same day, and enjoyed it, so that was a bonus
I never watched the cartoon, so I guess that's why it doesn't upset me so much... I saw it, and I liked the new movie. I thought it was funny. There were some things that bothered me about it, but I thought it was pretty good overall. Just saying.

This guy is hilarious! Yes, Michael Bay sucks balls and Transformers 2 is so terrible! Its like they pulled out all of the things that made the original toys and cartoon Transformers awesome and just took a giant shit on the franchise. The fact that so many stupid fucks like the movie really scares me because it shows just how dumb and stupid our country has become.

I did hate all the sex comedy in the story, it was disgusting. D: Transformers aren't supposed to be fucking hookers. I don't really agree with the camera angles that much though, thought it was better than other movies I've seen. I doubt I'll go to a first-showing of ANY movie ever again, since it's ruined a bunch of good-old stories. </3 Fuck it. What was old, stays old I guess.

What is it with u u retards, right T1 and T2 had a good purpose, and guess what it FUCKING WORKED!, not only are the younger and the older generation loving it, but it has resparked Transformers for the very young generation, my nephew loves the cartoons and the movies, and guess what they are actually good movies. They were never supposed to be excact copies of the originals with 25poly models and dodgey near morphing robots.

I agree...sorta...I found Transformers 2 to be boring - with the exception of the parents...they were fun...i also felt they objectified Megan Fox's hotness a little too much - but being a gay male, my opinion doesn't matter in that respect...and I personally did not think Heath Ledger was a good/talented actor...but then again, I don't like the Beatles...

Soon as I saw it was Micheal Bay directing, I went in with low expectations, and to my surprise, both movies sucked worse that I had thought.
The movies have no plot, it's all action and explosions. The most cliche of all stories shoved in the middle of a giant battle between robots. Fuck the kid, let's just get Fox topless with the robots kicking each others' asses. That would make the movie so much better.

i felt the same hugh, it wasnt as good as i wanted it to be
my main gripe was the fact that the new autobots just happened to be there. no explanations, other than they arrived after the events of the first film, when optimus put out the call to come to earth. it was just random. and then the robots were only there for the effects, because i learnt nothing about them. so i couldn't really even feel for them.
I saw star trek on the same day, and enjoyed it, so that was a bonus

This was hilarious, but the movie was good if you don't take it so seriously. It's sole purpose was honestly to make people go "ooooh" like you said in your review. It seems unfair to judge it poorly just because it didn't fulfill the purpose you wanted it to.
