I had no idea that this was an Alan Hawkshaw tune. I've got some Mohawks on CD and just LOVE his stuff... The Dave Allen theme is a real favourite too and I've just spotted you've done that already : )
Nice one Paul, I've been going through your tv themes and they're all top of the class! Here's a slightly obscure one for you, 'The Man from Atlantis' with Patrick Duffy I think - a crime fighting Atlantean who for some reason armed criminals always tied up and threw into the docks to get rid of, instead of just shooting him? Even at age 7 I knew that was even more far fetched than a bloke who can breathe underwater.
I know exactly what you mean about the awkwardness - it doesn't have a natural flow to it and you play it incredibly well, despite that. 100%, Good Effort, Five Merit-Points!!

@wesmatron I do remember it was used for that two - although it was a different arrangement and different instruments; certainly a testimony to how strong a tune it is that it should be used twice.
I guess everybody who did videos before youtube changed their look, will ahve please rate on them whereas now it changed and new comers are like 'OMG where do I rate!'. Im still guna like your video tho. I think the vids are awesome.
This was one of the greatest songs I've heard in a while! It sounds like something from the earthbound/mother games! Great playing! 5/5+5/5 I can't rank more than one time...XD
No, the original theme ran from 1970-1989 seasons, then was replaced from 1990-2003ish by a totally different tune. When by 2003 the show was on its way out, they went back to a more modern electronic shorter version of this tune until the last episode was broadcast.
Thank you. Because of your cover I found out "Grange Hill" show. I've downloaded first season, watch it and soooo like it! Thank you for such a good feelings!
Your Charlie and Lola tutorial is excellent. I would love one for this too - what a fantastic version of a great piece of music. Any chance of you putting it together Paul?
wtg i liked this, thank you for sharing your very talented player. The person who composed this Alan Hawkshaw also palyed the keyboads and piano and i suppose he composed it on that
By expansion unit I take it you mean the Motif XS Rack? That's good for just the voices but it's worth paying the extra to get the actual hardware keys too - I mean you could use your Roland RD seperately still and have the Motif as a standalone too for brass, strings, guitar, SFX etc etc!
There's no noticeable delay whatsoever (I used to use it live all the time with my Yamaha P70. Of course, the only delay there is is the high un-noticeable difference between striking a key on a keyboard compared to an acoustic piano - hardly noticeable to the human ear!
Yeah the Motif XS is an incredibly powerful tool and with your playing ability you realy would get the max outta it. and of course, if you didn't fancy shelling out all that money for the XS8 with Piano Weighted keys, you could simply get the XS6 and connect it to your Roland RD700sx with a midi cable (so you use the Roland to control the XS)
I originally thought I would just buy the expansion unit rather than the full keyboard - but seeing from the demo how you can control all the sequencing and mixing from the keyboard then maybe the full thing may be the way to go. I hope midi has got quicker - in the old days there was a delay between playing and hearing the sound.
This, again, is pure brilliance. I really do admire you, you know! The way you play is so relaxed and you really know what you're doing! If I win the lottery I'll buy you a MOTIF XS! thats the deal.
A very nice arrangement. The Grange Hill theme - despite my dislike of the show on the whole - has always been one of my favourites, probably because of those magnificent opening notes.
and i mean i always though it was to be honest i havent got aa clue what the reall ones played with reallly trumputs is 1988 but no 78 - 87 i havent played it in ages
try and do the know its little harder these only two things ive ever acctually played good on piano and the Batovvon E key near High middle with the black key right of it
Grange Hill youtube piano arrangement. Oh....no. Oh......NO!
