Have a Rainbow Day in San Diego, California! Look like Rainbow Brite and her sidekick first visit in the San Diego Zoo for stopping Murky Dismal and Lurky ruining the background of the San Diego Zoo. Before the San Diego Comic Con is grown through the 1980s through the 1990s to the 2000s. The costume of Murky Dismal and Lurky, Rainbow Brite and her sidekick are mascot costumes.

@14Pipeline3000 Normaly I would say no, but if you have the equipment you can copy the VHS to DVD to preserve your copy for your private home use. At this time there isn't a plan to release the live action specials to DVD. I will let you know if they do.

Be sure to store your videos in a cool, dry place, and check on them every so often for sound and picture quality as they can and do fade, as you can tell from mine. I wish I could upload a newer version with better quality, but youtube doesnt' allow. Maybe someday I can get a better copy. Regardless. I hope you enjoy it! Have a Rainbow Day!

I used to rent this from the video place quite frequently as a kid. I never wanted to see any other Rainbow Brite video; I only watched this one! I don't know why or how I chose this. It's interesting to see it as an adult. Last time I saw this was over 20 years ago.

Hey! Okay i have to tell this story since you posted this movie...I grew up with this movie, i loved this and all rainbow brite shows/movies. When i was younger, my family went to California, and because of this movie I made my entire family go to the San Diego Zoo, I was 100% convinced that I would see Rainbow Brite there....obviously Rainbow Brite was not there...I was very very sad to say the least...but I always loved this movie!! thanks for posting!

Thanks for posting this! Those character costumes are frightening to me still, and the imagery of everything turning to black & white always stuck with me.

As a kid, there was a VHS tape my older sister recorded that had this special, "Grease" and "Puff The Magic Dragon". Suffice to say, it was a sad day in our house when it went missing.

Actually, no, the VHS of the live action specials were never released on DVD. It was this lack that I decided to share them via YouTube. I will gladly inform you if they ever do make it to DVD.

A shame the source is damaged near the beginning. Try running it through a Magnavox MWR10D6 DVD recorder. It will restore a bunch of the problems you're having with the source tape.

I have one and love it.

*nods* I know. I attempted to use a 4 head VCR to transfer the film, but one JVC VCR gave me a blue screen over that section, the other (I can't remember the brand) gave me the scrambled image in the video. I do not have the recorder you are speaking of. I will have to look in to that.

Yes, the "Puppet" costumed people were not "toon" acurate. Look at Twink and Rainbow Brite! Very different. As a child, I didn't enjoy these films as much as the cartoons. They looked too freakish.

I'm not familiar with the "Ovide" you are talking about. Animals in captivity is a hard thing to deal with. :(
