@MasterIsh91 I agree, Natalie Clein is so overrated, I saw her play Elgar in Glasgow in May and it was sooooo painstakingly boring! My favourite performances of it I've seen have been Steven Isserlis and Jian Wang, both play it incredibly, with a real original feel to it in each performance!
Natalie Clein's Bach is amongst the most beautiful I have heard, but her Elgar makes me feel sick - that hideous wide vibrato, so much that isn't in the score too.

I've recently played in my orchestra with natalie clein as soloist and think she's a fabulous player -one of the best cello sounds i've ever heard.go natalie!
I think Natalie plays this piece SO beautifully- have heard her live in Manchester and there were definitely no edits needed then! She's one of a kind and a really friendly ,inspiring and beautiful person to talk to as well!
She simply squashed (or lost) the sound on the note straight after the initial attack, as a result of too much bow pressure and too slow bow speed (this is more likely to happen without the aid of vibrato, as this case demonstrates). But to be fair, it must be very nerve-racking experience, to go out there, having only a short time to prove yourself in front of the tv, probably inadequate warm up facilities, and with musicians such as Vengerov on the panel! I think she did a good job.
Yeah shame on her. She's no good. Try hearing her do the Rococo variations live! There were thousands of takes when she did her cd recordings. That's the problem with modern technology - you can't tell who's good and who's not. But audiences don't seem to realise! Pisses me off!!!!
I think you can rely on the musical profession to decide on whether she's any good or not! if she was as bad as you say there's no way that she would continue to be booked by orchestras. And do you honestly think she'd have won the European finals of Young Musician of the Year if she was a dud. I think you'll also find that most studio recordings also involve lots of takes. So, basically, I think you're wrong on all counts really!
OK. Don't be so sure of yourself there! For a start I am in the musical profession. The only reason she gets booked in this country is because she won the young musician of the year and she gets ticket sales. It doesn't matter about how good she is. As long as management meet their targets then that's good enough. The musicians are the ones complaining about her for years after. Yes people can be still dud after winning a competition at that age.
I've sat in on many many recording sessions. Yes there are lots of takes especially with the more obscure pieces that the orchestra's never played. This isn't the case with the Elgar. As long as the soloist has it sussed then it wouldn't need so many takes. However the beauty of music is that no one is wrong. You have your opinion and mine is that I don't think she's bad...i just don't think she's very good.
The fact that she won young musician of the year about a million years ago doesn't mean she is still good today, all the players i know say that her cello playing has never got any better and she is only booked because she generates ticket sales.
Natalie Clein screwed up at 2:16

Did Natalie hesitate on that C at 2:15 or was it just the video? If the former, shame on her!

pretty sure that was a hesitation tbh!

If she did pause, it doesn't matter. The emotion in this piece is so powerful, that a little pause won't do any harm.
