  • This is why they hate us, because we have the people with brains like Hedges on our side.

  • this dud is a fuckin genius. fuck businesses.

  • We should devide this country. corprate people and none. Send the None corprate to half the country and the corprate to the other half. Build a huge wall so we can keep the none corpate "safe" and the corprate "safe". Each side would goervn or lack of as they wish. But NO INTERMINGLING. Whitch would u choose?

  • The machinery of capitalism is oiled with the blood of the workers.

  • I have to disagree with his comments relative to social networking "not being useful in terms of activism..." Yes, ultimately activism is about "getting out there and throwing yourself in front of the beast"- However, social networking is a tremendous tool for getting the word out, very quickly, to the masses who ARE willing to do such a thing. It's no wonder the "corporate state" is attempting to control the world wide web.

  • "The REAL radicals have seized power..."

An eloquent speaker of Truth. Thank you, Mr. Hedges.

  • I wish divinity students like him would study economics just once. He's right about the Democrats being part of the problem, but should point out the problems with big government. Starving the beast in Washington through lower taxes and zero lobbying would solve a lot of the problem. Politicians and diapers are alike, both need frequent changing for the same reason.

  • This guy is shamelessly intent on promoting his books to make himself richer. Promoting higher wages and full-time benefits for part-time mostly illegal workers only raises the cost of goods and inflation and pushes things like farming tomatoes outside the country to Mexico and South America, just as raising labor costs killed the auto industry. Then the tomato farmers say fuck it and sell their land to real estate and golf course developers and we get NAFTA tomatoes from Mexico and lose jobs.

  • @tanisb You wrote:"Then the tomato farmers say fuck it and sell their land to real estate and golf course developers and we get NAFTA tomatoes from Mexico and lose jobs."What jobs are you talking about? The ones you call "part-time mostly illegal workers ?" Farm workers in central FL are not small tomato farmers - they are BIG AG! You would not do their job - long hours AND all the overpriced goods they buy from the company store are deducted from their wages so they can never leave.

  • @theonlysuz You said farm workers in Central FL are BIG AG.. Not exactly. Farm OWNERS are Big Ag, not farm workers. Big Ag can move to Mexico. In fact, they are already there. I have worked as a farm worker. Basic labor. No benefits. Hourly wage, I was 18. I loved it. As long as there are workers willing to do jobs, what is the real problem? Some libtard doesn't like it? They're employees at will, not slaves. They can leave anytime. Welcome to the free market. Don't like it? Move to Cuba

  • @tanisb What I meant is that there really aren't any small farm owners left in central FL. I have lived in that area for 40 years and it's not just tomatoes, it's also strawberries, oranges and of course sugar cane, which is the worst thing going for farm workers. I'm glad you liked working on a farm - how much did they pay? Did you have benefits? Could you have supported a family? How long did you keep that job?

  • @theonlysuz Might have been the best job I ever had. You could smell the ozone coming out of the earth after irrigation or rainfall. It was intoxicating. I picked vegetables on a small NJ farm...family-owned, not BIG AG...it was only for a year or so until I could save up enough to pay for college. I played guitar in a rock and roll band at night. I suppose I could have supported a family on the pay if I had one at the time. No benefits.

  • @tanisb I thought we were talking about Immokalee FL where Big Sugar is the worst. Read about it or see videos. Use keywords: Florida farm workers slavery 2011 and also Big Sugar - there is a lot of information. They try to keep reporters off the farms so they can't report on the conditions there.

  • @theonlysuz It is not the government's job to tinker with wages and prices--it creates inefficiencies. That's how we get collapses that put people out of work. We're at 9% unemployment, and it doesn't include people who left the job market. A record number of families on food stamps.A trillion dollars wasted on stimulus that brought no job growth, just more debt, and all we can talk about is giving benefits to part time workers so we can eat strawberries out of season? C'mon!

  • @tanisb It's not only about strawberries. Not just farms. Reetail stores, such as the GAP Inc and others hire only for 30 hours so they don't have to pay benefits. My son worked for barely above minimum wage for years without raises even though he was a one of the highest sellers. Same story selling cell phones. Same story at Starbucks. And they gave him his next week's schedule on Thursday which was always different so he couldn't get another job with a specific schedule.

  • Buy gold and silver

  • You people are absolutely retarted. You would drive america into the shitter so fast if you got your way it would be ubelievable. I dont understand where u get ur ignorant fantasy land ideas. Instead of protesting and sitting on you ass demanding that the government just give you a better life, go out and fucking get one for yourself you lazy fucks. Get a fucking brain

  • @SouthAKen27 How's your life?

  • Chris Hedges...

    Brilliant !!!

  • Whoa whoa, did I just hear him say the occupy wall street was where the hope of America lies? How is that a credible statement?

  • Chris Hedges is easily becoming one of my favorite thinkers right now.

  • "...the criminal class have seized power in this country"....there it is in a nutshell. The powers that be (both party's) are corrupt and complicite in the destruction of this country.

  • obstruct

  • "activism requires us to physically get out and onstruct the forces of control." Bloody well said.

  • Watched Chris Hedges on Book TV last night and his 3 hour interview. Awesome. Three hours was not enough.

  • @kjopeterson4 So i did, very intense, and inspiring. I wish we had such a man in France.

  • *Truly a great man*

  • Great words by a great man in great times.

  • two things, chris hedges, sounds a lot like james woods, also, chris hedges has a very dramatic face, almost that 1950's superhero villian look, like he's an evil scientist plotting against the world

  • Brilliant! Some of the comments here show how dumbed down (& vile) much of the populace (ironically, victims themselves) has become via TV and talk-radio mis-information and propaganda. All they can think of is shit and blowjobs.

  • I'm swithching to a credit union on Monday.

  • all the occupiers are smart and good people ,the scum hate them

  • so stupid, these peope don't understand the economy, they should go get an education instead of standing around yelling about something they don't know.

  • These people are so stupid its funny

  • Thank you so much for posting these videos! Hedges rocks! Happy Thanksgiving to you :)

  • someone please disable comments! all this hate and stupidity is making me nauseous.

  • @satyratron Well I like their monetary system monopoly war profiteer hail to the butt whole whiper ZioNazi shill comments. If they want to write and act like the hateful wasted sperm they are here that is great. At least when they are typing on their keyboards here they are not doing the Synagogue of Satan Mammon worshiping acts we know they are capable of. Have at it tea bangers!

  • the courageous fight for government endorsed irresponsibility. occupiers are entitled children who are searching for personal gratification. Theyre like the pink shirt wearing cancer walkers in an unathletic kickline with huge toothy smiles.

  • a smug, shameless self-promoter is not selfless. rich socialists think they are a beacon of light on humanity but i tend to think of them as disrespectful scum who have no trouble selling out hard working families that live paycheque to paycheque and cant pay more taxes. Lmao @ fat socialists and guilty white trustfunder wussies.

  • omg if such intelligent people will protest, yes, they will occupy the world.

  • if this pantload had one decent blowjob in his life he wouldnt be there

  • this guy is a smug self-important liberal parasite; a nutbar as kevin o leary said. bullied as a kid, had no friends. He could put a sentence together and his liberal scum parents put him through some lefty school. he bled a bunch of sissy overanylytical idealistic blather that make his liberal buttbuddies shoot their loads. looks AND sounds like a sex predator. hide your children.

  • @mfyt4mp Apparently, you prefer to toss worn-out pejoratives against a guy who a) thinks for a living, b) is willing to put himself on the line for the betterment of you and your offspring, and c) exemplifies a selflessness you have yet to exhibit in your own life.

Obviously, you've never read a single book written by Hedges. Obviously you've never attended a single lecture. That hollow look to his eyes? He was abducted/kidnapped by the Republican Guard in Iraq and tortured.

  • In a free market, a co-op is a legitimate business structure. In a free market, communities of individuals can collectivise their wealth to pay for things like healthcare, if they wish to do so. The free market is the only economic system that allows for everyone to do what they want, yet this guy is anti-capitalist. I don't get it.

  • I want to join in the protests. This IS where hope lies. Unless we do this, we, and the planet's ecosystem, are finished.

  • I'm not a Doctor, I'm not a Soldier, WHY am I being treated like a P.O.S. for being 20 mins late? LOST JOBS, LOST WIVES, LOST HOMES .... LOST HUMANITY!!!!!!!

  • @DRUNKENRAMBLE lost wives has nothing to do with it, you're stepping on religious territory over there...

  • I got cursed out by my boss the other day because I was 20 mins late. In other words ... I didnt start to make the owner's money and my own fast enough!!!!!!! I was spoken to like a SUB-HUMAN because of this!!!

  • This is where the hope of America lies....indeed.

  • End the Fed.

  • wow, crazy people saying dumb things.... people really listen to this

  • @CVE45 HUMANITY is not craziness ....FEAR IS!!!!!

  • @DRUNKENRAMBLE No, this guy is crazy

  • @CVE45 Is showing up late to make ur bosses money a crime? Is putting the wheels in motion worth 99% of the people's physical and intellectual labor to sustain it FAIR?

  • @DRUNKENRAMBLE Wow, just wow, everything you said there is false. If you don't want to work for your boss, than start your own business.

  • @CVE45 And do the smae thing? NEVER!!!! I would start a CO-OP if anything and abandon this cult of greed or mke "MAKE MY MONEY WHEN I WANT U TO" .....Where is the HUMANITY? Look INTO UR SOUL AND SEE THAT THERE IS great need for change !!!!

  • OK, nevermind, this guy is a complete idiot. He does realize the Dems are part of the problem but he is a complete Marxist I believe.

  • This guy knows where Obama wants to get this nation to. Listen closely! Have a look at African nations to get a clue. Obama and Washington is leading us into a banana republic.

  • Finally, the first intelligent video I have seen of OWS all day.

  • @calamaty2007 theres more.

  • Do a search and read how the Federal Reserve (owned by private global bankers, not Federal) robbed the American Peoples money and sent it to Iraq and refuses to disclose how much and who received it. Also do a search on the Trillions missing from the Pentagon that was in news just prior to 911 and now forgotten about. All search Chem Trails, they are spraying posion in our skies. These global private bankers are using the U.S. Treasury to dominate the entire Globe

  • Amen Chis knows important real true direct Democracy is for the citizens to gain legal ownership plus direct rule & control over money, business and Govt. Anything else will bring you to serftom and being taken advantage of by someone else. Real true Democracy for USA NOW we have earned it. Outlaw the Kleptocratic Republic from ever existing again.

  • this guy is a special kind of stupid.

  • @cristoballs

You are not worth his fart.

  • While Zionist “ Jews” send their kids to law school , our kids are being spied on and beaten by cops and arrested and blacklisted . Someone has to speak out , this is not about Judaism , it’s about truth . We respect Jews but we're against greed

Note : many of the protestors are cops themselves trying to

change the subject and the media refuses to report the whole story , they only report patches of the events along with happy people playing music ?

  • OWS is hardly peaceful. Compare the teaparty to the OWS movement. WHen the teaparty left, the grounds were always immaculate. NYC looks like a dump now because of OWS. You have naked people runnin around, people pissing and pooping everywhere, people doing drugs, rampant sex. How can a moral person say that this is Peaceful? its Anarchy and chaos. The police never had to get involved with the tea party. ANd these people have no true grievance. They are all ignorant. They have teaparty envy.

  • @shoelessjoe2555

Care to cite a non-Faux News source for your claims? One with actually documented evidence for each and every BS claim you've made?

  • @feydrautha012 Just a quick search of google and i found 9 different sources OTHER THAN FOX. that reports the same things... many reporters have been offered drugs. And then theres YOUTUBE!! You call my claims BS, but they are all TRUE. And you know it. Liberals are desperately clinging onto this as their"grassroots" gathering. But its going to backfire, because people now have a chance to see how wacko and truely stupid these people are.

  • @shoelessjoe2555

I need the following sources (with documented evidence):

Every tea party has left an immaculate area.

Every OWS gathering is 1. Violent, 2. rife with naked people, 3. coated with urine/feces, 4. has "rampant" sex (let's say at least 100 cases).

If all you can give me are outliers, then your claims are not relevant.

The OWS has shown great restraint in the face of obvious attempts to cause violence by police and false flag operatives. To claim otherwise is an immoral lie.

  • @feydrautha012

Why cant I vote your comment up more?!?

  • This man is so smart. And he is not using his intelligence to get himself rich. I have nothing but respect for him.

  • @Rockwater87

if you want to see how "smart" Hedges is, check out his debate with Hitchens.

  • We are the 99%

The other 1% are the jews.

  • He says the Tea Party movement celebrates violence. So he thinks Ron Paul celebrates violence does he???? Can someone explain this to me please.

  • @1supkillsbats1 ron paul isn't officially connected to the tea party.

  • IT'S ALL PART OF THE GLOBAL AWAKENING!!! RON PAUL AND THIS IS THE START!!!!! RON PAUL 2012!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

  • The main point is not that anyone needs to take away anyone else's money or that we need to scrap everything about our system. Some things about our system work well and spawn great creativity and greatness.

But a lot of our system is creating more and more inequality, injustice and suffering. And not only that, but is destroying the earth at the same time.

The reality that Chris is talking about is very eminent. If there is no change, corporations will destroy the planet.

  • separation of business and state!

  • In order for there to be a winner, there must be a loser. In order for one to be rich, one must be poor. It's the facts of life. Either get used to it or prepare to die because you won't get your hands on my money.

  • @capitalismforme

    Hell yeah!

  • @tannersanta What more do you greedy Americans want than Cornell West AND Chris Hedeges!!!??;)

  • People saying we need to stop supporting corporations on here...are you all hypocrites? By using Youtube, you're supporting one of the biggest corporations in America--Google. If you use Facebook, you're buying into Goldman Sachs, which epitomizes your nemesis, not to mention Zuck is worth about 17 billion dollars. Stop your bullshit, because we can't take you seriously when you play cafeteria capitalism. If you want to claim the "99%," own what you believe or don't even try.

  • @Neverdii I dont give you tube or facebook any money so how does my using them get them paid exactly?

  • @kmitchem4

Think about it...have you ever paid for any of those services? Nope. But where do they make their money? From you using their page. FB and YT make shit tons of money off of advertising. The reason you'll never pay for anything from Google is because your use of their search engine makes them money enough. People complain about ads on here...what do you think they're for? Eye candy? Certainly not; it's advertising paid for by other companies. Think a little.

  • @Neverdii If there is someone actually clicking on those ads you still have to purchase something and i never do but if someone else is...well than thats where ur problem is...Money is going to kill us all that aint no shit...greedy ass humans...thanks for clarifying...

  • @kmitchem4

Actually, by using this page right now, you're paying Google. The advert companies are paid by clicks, but they pay google regardless of whether or not anyone clicks. They're more likely to stop paying Google if they don't get clicks, but that will never happen because Google has monopolized the internet. So just by viewing, you're contributing. Sorry to break it to ya bud. Either give up the internet or be with my "1%," as we're called.

  • @Neverdii Im not paying nobody....but if someone is paying for me to use it sorry about ur luck...so ur in with the 1% huh?

  • @kmitchem4 well i wont give up the internet cause i like downloading there movies and songs that aint worth paying for so...i guess if they make money off my clicks i save money by downloading there movies and applications and hacking them...so you go be with the 1% and i will go with the 99% cause in the end the poor guy slices the rich guys thraot then bangs his ole lady while you take ur last breath...oh how i want to see a 42" blade in the face of all politicians that fucked us!

  • @kmitchem4

You're lying to yourself. You're as much a part of the problem as anyone else, you just found out about it too late to realize you've been part of it your entire life. And the 99% is not 99%. I'm not rich by any means; I just know how to work for what I want and I don't expect other people to solve my problems for me. I don't see any solutions with Occupy Wall Street. So you get rid of the bankers and politicians...then what? Are you going to be in charge of us? I hope not.

  • @Neverdii yOU PEOPLE ARE FUCKING NUTS....IM NOT LISTENING TO YOUR SO-CALLED REASONING...ITS REFUCKINGTARDED...YOUR DAMN WELL RIGHT LAST TIME I CHECKED POLITICIANS DONT DRIVE THE COMBINES AND BUILD THE CARS SO FUCK THEM AND FUCK YOU FOR THINKING THAT YOUR WAY IS THE ONLY WAY...I HAVE AN IDEA...YOU GO SOMEWHERE ELSE AND PLAY POLITICIANS AND WE REAL AMERICANS WILL GO FIGURE THIS SHIT OUT WITHOUT YOUR HELP...I CANT BELIEVE YOU FUCKS...SCREW YOU AND THE OTHER GUY MOUTHING THE SAME SHIT..UR BOTH GEEKS

  • @kmitchem4 Lol fuck America. You're all idiots, just look at yourself shouting obscenities behind a keyboard about something you're clearly not qualified to speak on and don't understand.. Hell all of you are. Why do I even bother to read this comments anymore?

  • @CaptainOmarful Your the one asking yourself a hypothetical on youtube

  • @CaptainOmarful

There are many intelligent Americans, but we're not nearly as vocal as these whining children that are flooding Wall Street. It's unfortunate that this is carrying over to other countries as well. Youtube is bad representation for our country, quite frankly. Good day!

  • @Neverdii come on, speak thoughtfully

  • @CaptainOmarful okay i will say it nicely your fucked in the system your in and your fucked without it...so i guess were all just fucked so deal with it cause i dont care any more...your all idiots in my book...

  • @kmitchem4

Remember the difference: your and you're... Now who's the idiot?

  • @Rockwater87 Here ur worried about your and you're and im worried about everyones future...again who's the idiot? Im done with you english lesson trolls! you all understood what i meant but your ignorance could only take you all to attack me about my spelling...I LMMFAO at all of you!!! What losers and its ignorance is what drives you all to say the dumbest shit...God please take these dweebs and have them all probed for ignorance...

  • @kmitchem4

Just look at yourself, writing in all caps yelling at me from across the internet, screaming obscenities because I'm questioning your ability to lead this country. You have NO IDEA what you're doing. You present yourself like a little child, whining, crying and screaming. Perhaps you sucked your mom's tits too long in life, because life doesn't serve stuff to you on a platter. You have no solutions for this problem other than to throw a fit. Grow up already.

  • @kmitchem4

And keep making excuses. You're gonna have to get your food from a corporation, unless you hunt wild animals and live in the woods of Canada, in which case you wouldn't be on here right now. If you have been in a car, you've supported Exxon Mobil. If you've used electricity, you've supported every energy company in the United States. If you live in a house, the supplies for it came from a copper corporation in South America. Just suck it up...you're not a superhero. Me either.

  • @Neverdii whatever dude...your brainwashed into thinking thats the only way...your living proof that americans are trained well into seeing only what they want you to see...i feel sorry for you but its okay...theres a shit load of people that are going to fix it for the ones that just cant grasp shit in apple butter...im done with you corporate loving assholes...

  • Shouldn't you people who are against corporate influence on political parties feel the same about the political parties that TAKE THE MONEY ????

Spew your hatred on the lawmakers that ALLOW themselves to be bought and sold... NOT THE HARD WORKER THAT EARNS WHAT HE HAS GOTTEN.

Get rid of lobbyists and PACS !!!

  • Like people wrote below me, you stop buying their products and using their servcies, the whole corporate system comes crashing down.

  • What can we do? Stop eating at fast food restaurants and stop shopping at Walmart for a start.

  • @imaccuish YES, also use credit unions, raise awareness of exploitation of labor.

  • Everything serious that came up after the banking crash was X'ed off the agenda of possibilities by the establishment: a transactions tax, outlawing hedge funds, a return to glass-steagall, etc. And then more blundering, temporary fixes were nixed too: stimulus, job retraining etc. It was obvious that the agenda from the beginning was austerity. The ruling class views this as an opportunity to stage a social counter-revolution against working people. Keep up the protests. Stay strong.

  • We need an international boycott on a company that we feel is too involved in politics. Don't buy one product or service? Simple.

A huge company going bankrupt. Powerful.

  • Corporations are not scared until we stop buying their products and services.

  • @leader1000001 How possible do you think that is?

  • @TheUrbanSoundStation I don't mean every single one haha Salt Satyagraha (a refusal to obey the unfair salt taxes imposed in India under British rule, signalled by Gandhi), for example, was a very effective form of non-violent protest. Say one company went bankrupt, or close to, because the population disagreed with the way it conducted business with the government, or with people, this would send a message to others. A boycott of big banks has been started, although i doubt it will work.

  • @TheUrbanSoundStation But, with something that gets 99% of its business from the 99%, something like this could definitely work. Really everything we do is a choice, we can each make a choice of what we support, to some extent, even though it might involve a little hard work, or a touch of sacrifice.

  • I'm not sure that 99% of people can understand everything that you are saying. This would be important. It's about the people who can't afford education as well. "A rapacious oligarchic class" for example.

  • fuck people are dumb !

Marx wrote about this shit 150 years ago !

just because hereditary rule was replaced with democracy does not mean the STRUCTURE of society changed.

you dumb stupid moronic Americans have been fooled for so long !

elections don't mean jack fucking shit !

at the end of the day the structure of society is no different. top, middle, bottom !

  • Now, can they sustain this?

  • Why are "support Israel" ad sense ads showing up on this clip?

  • @whereismybailouttv GOOD ??? Israel deserves NO SUPPORT... And ZIONism, is EVIL...

  • chris was mistaken in connecting the "gun culture" to racism, because the culture of gun ownership was at one time in the u.s. and is currently prevalent among radical unions and mutualist organization throughout the world. there are honest gun owners in the world. the most dishonest among them are the cops and those who enforce monopoly control.

  • Gordon Gecko said ''Greed is Good''.....think everyone has watched that movie too many times!

  • Thankyou for posting

    Chris Hedges is the man

  • 16 people are corporations!

  • Cont. Fascism is slimy smelly creepy but very clever, it hides behind a skinhead and under a policeman's hat! It smiles at the camera while holding a bat. It wears a uniform of the brightest White, while lurking in the darkest recesses of our minds. We can all be lured in. If it's national pride, or there taking all our jobs, fascism rises when we think we are loosing something! Remember what you Need, forget what you Want. Peace and good will to all who have seen the light.....love to the one

  • The reason we have work is based on Need! Need gets mixed up with Want far too much! What you 'Need' is water food warmth and shelter everything else is Want! Greed has become Want's best friend and Greed, well Greed is Powers little bitch! We are on the edge of something amazing' but beware, there is a fork in the road'. Fascism loves revolution.

  • New Obama campaign slogan...

    Solyndra Living...

"Your hard earned tax dollars paying liberal campaign bundler's fat"

  • First guy, really? I am SOOO suprized you worked for the New york times, and your an idiot. Actually work, not pansy ass sitting on you computer for an hour and then drinking all night, actually 9 hours a day solid work.

  • Check my video "How To Rob A Bank" at UmotionS.com

I recorded it all, got away with it and now i'm revealing the evidence.

    Trailer Found at my channel

  • Mr. Hedges for President!

    Full Support from Toronto Canada!

  • @ibukurkristi

You must get rid of Harper in Canada! He is a madman.

  • Now This is the america I know, strong, unafraid and genuinely fighting for whats right. The US's image has taken a battering for years now. Time to make america great again! so yeah, much support from the UK!

  • “Greed is always hungry.”

  • We need more intellectuals like Hedges, that are honest and willing to fight on the side of the people!

    Thanks for the upload!

  • is necessary for their to be society at all. Liberty has to be ordered.

  • to make a movement successul.

  • of protecting public order, which the protesters are clearly undermining by charging at police, holding up traffic, and causing disorder generally because they do not have the patience to keep their participation within legitimate channels. What is funny about this flagrant disregard for public order is that it is the most basic and essential condition for any political change to occur at all, since groups accepting that their goals might take time to achieve or that a majority is required

  • He acts as if the cops are lackeys of the corporate state. What a simplistic and self-serving viewpoint. It is reasonable to suppose that a number of the police actually share the occupy wall street movement's frustration, or are friendly to massive regulation and a planned economy, which is the logical terminus of the movement's position. So clearly the police are not a monolithic body in the pockets and serving the interest of the "corporate state". Actually, the police are in the business

  • Occupy Wall Street will result in a constitutional amendment separating business and state. Corporations, get out of our government.

  • @hipslap I really hope you're right!

  • @hipslap HA! You do realize that corporations are the reason any one has a job right? And with out corporations we would be nothing right? THat is NOT going to happen.

  • Chris Hedges really speaks truth to power. His rhetoric is getting more strident lately. It's funny, how we are living through a technological golden age while our economy and politics are falling apart. Or not so funny, perhaps, as Hedges would argue, no doubt convincingly, that the benefits of technology are all going towards the global 1%. Indeed, we must have a society more like that in Star Trek, or we will all suffer the fate of the Ferengi.
