When you look at this promo done by the rock you can actually sense the raw emotion of anger from his speech so well that you'd swear he wasn't using a script.
@Raedein - He WASN'T using a script...the rock never used one. AND this is the match that really put him on the map. It was at the copps colliseum in Hamilton, Ont. and I was there live. The match stole the show, and this is where he shifted gears from upper mid-card to top-level guy. The pop he got on TV was actually pretty tame compared to what he'd get later, but his entrance gave me goosebumps and it was deafening...I still feel them today whenever I see the clip but its hard to find.

And Vince knew that the gimmick would instantaneously get over with the fans.
@xXJoelXx95 Yes there was a time Taker didn't kiss ass but remember there was also a time HBK and HHH were a part of The Kliq and were at odds with Vince McMahon in the 90'. It all changed when HHH married Stephanie and HBK became a Christian. A lot of these veterans were at odds with Vince at first but when they get older, they realize they need to preserve their legacy so they have to be in good terms with the WWE or they'll get buried like Hogan, Flair or Sammartino.

When you look at this promo done by the rock you can actually sense the raw emotion of anger from his speech so well that you'd swear he wasn't using a script.

@Raedein - He WASN'T using a script...the rock never used one. AND this is the match that really put him on the map. It was at the copps colliseum in Hamilton, Ont. and I was there live. The match stole the show, and this is where he shifted gears from upper mid-card to top-level guy. The pop he got on TV was actually pretty tame compared to what he'd get later, but his entrance gave me goosebumps and it was deafening...I still feel them today whenever I see the clip but its hard to find.

Do some homework, kiddo. Scripts came along when writers did-writers came along when the WWF/E went public on the NYSE. Back in this era (when you were still learning how to walk), it was sink or swim on live TV. Thats what made what were called the Monday Night Wars so epic in the first place...

@MisturrBlake - Rehearsing and scripting are two different things dude... he would have put the whole thing together in his head like an hour or two prior to the delivery there-not read it off a sheet for hours on end and try to memorize it. That's my point. Listen to the things austin says about that also...it's one of (not the only but one of) the reasons he walked out on the wwe back in 03 and remains one of his criticisms on the industry to this day. I have beyond the mat on DVD... LOL.

But i don't know if you've been watching RAW lately or not; but CM Punk did a promo. It was considered the best promo in 10 years. And it just goes to show, the rock was another person who kissed Vince's ass to get an opportunity to be famous.

And his strikes being open-handed help's wrestling's credibility because the old school rules state you can't use a closed fist. Plus one fist could break someone's face let alone kill a man. Anyway I did watch CM Punk and I only became a fan of his when he turned heel in 2009.

CM punk's promo, may not have been as entertaining as the rock's. But it was a damn site better! If you can work a worker, (he worked me). You've done a damn good job!

And, as far as i can tell, the only person who TRULY worked his ass off to the top was Austin. I can't think of anyone else who got to the top by thereselves. Only Austin.

When you think of WWE's past and present golden boys like Sammartino, Hogan, Macho Man, Rock, HHH, Cena and the Orton of today, it shows Austin was the only one who worked hard to get a great gimmick and to get noticed in the first place when he was doing shoots on Bischoff at ECW. I gotta disagree with the Taker thing. Listen to his interviews and he sounds exactly like HHH and Cena when talking WWE.

What i meant by 'Taker not kissing anyone's ass to get to where he is today is that; when he phone up Vince for a job, Vince said he doesn't have one. A few weeks later, Vince phones Mark up and says 'Hello, is this the Undertaker?' Mark was pretty much spoon-fed the BEST gimmick in wrestling. He didn't have to kiss anyone's ass to get the gimmick. And Vince knew that the gimmick would instantaneously get over with the fans.

@xXJoelXx95 Yes there was a time Taker didn't kiss ass but remember there was also a time HBK and HHH were a part of The Kliq and were at odds with Vince McMahon in the 90'. It all changed when HHH married Stephanie and HBK became a Christian. A lot of these veterans were at odds with Vince at first but when they get older, they realize they need to preserve their legacy so they have to be in good terms with the WWE or they'll get buried like Hogan, Flair or Sammartino.

As for Hogan, Flair, and whoever the other guy is; the reason they're forgot, is because, yes; they screwed Vince over many times. Espceially Flair. He 'retired' then went on over to TNA.

Plus both of them are broke and they need the paycheck. It's not like they disrespectfully ditched WWE in favor of TNA. Kurt Angle also needed a lighter schedule and WWe wouldn't give it so he left for TNA. Is there anything wrong with that? WWE should still acknowledge what he's done for them.
