  • OMG!!!! Thank You very so much for upload! Back in 1998,I worked in this guys house who was a huge Toyah fan and his friend who was Toyahs biggest fan ever and a personal friend of hers gave me a loan of this on bootleg vhs video he recorded off the telly in 1980 and the quality was absolute shit! Its just gr8 to see this good quality version.I was 8/9yrs old in 1980 and its footage like this that make me wish I had been 10yrs older in the thick of this movement but been so young made it magic.

  • I love this. Shame it's not available to buy somewhere. :(

  • Hey....did you spot a very young Boy George in the crowd at 43.22 and just after. Didn't know he was a Toyah Fan too!.....

  • What a wonderful piece of Time Travel. Thank you so much!

Not aware of Toyah until 'It's a Mystery' & unaware of this documentary. But all these decades later, I loved it. Brought back such fond & hopeful memories of a life ahead of me then. However I blinked & then it was Now!

Nevertheless, a magical recollection - & still I be a little in love with her methinks!!!!!

  • God this is sooooo good. I too missed it as a child. Saw bits and pieces cos my Dad wouldn't let me watch it. Consigned to an upstairs bedroom with a dodgy portable tv that didn't work too well. Seeing it all in colour, here, brings back so many memories. Toyah was and always will be my hero!

  • I remember seeing this the first time around. I was there at Toyah studio/home when the Blood Donor sequence was shot and talking with Toyah in her bedroom. I was providing the PA for the sounds.

For a long time I have been wanting to see this again...

  • I got into Toyah in 1981, so I never saw this but I knew about it. It became a part of my Toyah mythology, like the holy grail. Now I found it!

  • This is so great.. Thank for posting this. Never saw this before.

  • At 17 minutes there is a realy raw version of ellocution lesson. It is awesome!

  • Truly amazing to see this again! I was fortunate to be there at the beginning and this remains in my consciousness for ever.

  • used to watch her on pebble mill in the 70s she used to have a spot about 7.00 about fashion also loved her song ( a bird in flight ) i wish some one would download it i still got it on vinyl

  • WOW - I've been wondering how I can get to see this again!!! I saw then when it first aired (think I was about 12 or 13)... had no clue who she was, but loved it!!! about a year later, she released "Its a Mystery" (sorry - my least fave song but hey!)... can't wait to watch this again - should be heading off to sleep now but... ah hell.. it's only work... lol Thank you for posting this!!!!

  • I'm sure I've seen that blonde actress in the "Sugar & Spice" rehearsal on "Only Fools & Horses." I liked Toyah's "If you can't beat them, join them and corrupt them." quote lol. The "Ieya" performance is the most amazing part of this profile of Toyah. I also wonder what inspired her to use a Native American and Native American imagery for in the "Ieya" performance, as well?

  • She is an inspiration, and someone who has grown and got better with age and just looks incredible now! I've been a fan since i was abou 9 years old.

  • Does anyone know the date when it was published on uk television?

  • what is the song at the start of the video?

  • the song is called Neon Womb.from the album Sheep Farming In Barnet.

  • Love the old tv adverts! Toyah has been influenced by supernatural forces. What some would say are renegade angels of the devil. Black Sabbath is/was another band influenced by the same wicked spirits.

  • I can't thank you enough for this. I've been wanting to see this for a very long time. I was only 9 when this was originally shown on TV (not even sure whether it was shown in Scotland). Currently reading her brilliant autobiography which also covers much of her early work. Toyah was and is a creative genius. Thanks again :)

  • Brilliant to see this.Hard to believe its almost 30 years old.Forgot I was getting old.Just been converting my Toyah vinyl to MP3, been having a great time.

  • Absolutely amazing!!

Years later I tracked down "Mayhem" and felt such an epiphany when I stood there by her old doorway!

    Wonderful woman,so under-rated.

  • She's such a gem!

  • F me old telly was scary but not Toyah!

  • This is the first I've seen or heard her. I love it! The music, the look, it's strangely timeless. Amazing.

  • Babe, you should go online and buy Toyah Toyah Toyah or sheep farming in Barnet. Both by Toyah The music is staggering, u cxan get them off amazon for about a fiver

  • Thanks will check it out!

  • thanks.

  • Many thanks.

  • i collected 100s of names on a petition and sent it to ATV to get this shown adain{but it never was) any of the angels and demons out there? Zetta are you there?

  • Great to see this again, but I have to ask is that Gwyneth Strong (Cassandra from Only Fools And Horses) in the "Sugar And Spice" rehearsal 12 minutes in? Looks and sounds very like her.

Great documentary that should be brought out on DVD.

  • Yes, Gwyneth Strong did 'Sugar And Spice' - at the Royal Court.

  • Thanks for the confirmation danrag.

  • AT LAST...i've seen this video....I've been wanting to see this since 1983 when I saw her on the Rebel Run tour.

I'm proud to say...I am a true fan and always will be!

    Toyah...I love you

  • This lass got the best hair in the biz ;)

  • Hard to believe it's been nearly 30 years since I last saw this. What a shame she went over to the dark side soon after. Wicked, thanks!

  • This is absolutely amazing and delightful. I am in awe that such a thorough and earnest document exists. The empire may have fallen but the sun still never sets on english tele! The old commercials left in were wonderful to my yank anglofile eyes. you've made me stay up way past my bedtime. thankyou.

  • BOY does this bring back some great memories

    Thank You

  • Long live Toyah fab to see the origonal tv version !!

  • This is great, I was in the Intergalatic Ranchhouse fan club and had all her stuff. What a star.
