  • I was a special for 2 years. I quit because the police were too serious, it wasn't fun and quite depressing. SO glad I am out of it. I was crazy to do it, had to for my college course.

  • I have respect for specials but they must be mad to put there life on the line for nothing

Ive just been watching PC Rathband and seeing how this man has ended up makes me so greatfull to have the Police service

the poor chap has just been warded £18.95 benifit its a disgrace and he was a fully paid proffesional constable

God knows what a special would get

  • I'm going for it diffidently...

  • some police officers are ok its just anoying that they say there is a drop in crime rates. Well in my area there has been a conciderable rise in crime and vandalism and nothing is being done

  • Specials are often school failures, and are certainly not the brightest of individuals. High numbers of aggressive officers from this force are to be found at many public demonstrations. The majority of the SC are a disgrace and an embarrassment to the regular police.

  • 'don't think' ? you clearly are in some doubt. As a journalist I see life as it really is.

  • Do you have any evidence to back this up. Many universities run a scheme similar to ESP. I'm applying to be a SC, I'm a university student, with no intention of dropping out. Maybe you should stop talking out of your arse.

  • @F1X0R121 and another unsuitable candidate applying - most probably from a low level ( university ).

  • @lopzilla Um yeah, my uni is pretty low level, I mean who's ever heard of Imperial college london right?

  • @F1X0R121 - is your English good enough for you to be at Imperial, or are you a cleaner at the university?

  • @lopzilla Oh noes, he didn'tz use grammarz, zomg, must well be a dumb arse LULZ LULZ. Get over yourself. Also you need to look at your own literary skills. You're meant to start a sentence with a capital letter. Tool. Did you fail to get into the specials? I'm trying to work out why you're so sour. Oh and Imperial (note the capital there as well) has a lot of foreign students, who while being very good at what they do may not be so good at English.

  • @F1X0R121

The hyphen (-) is the small bar found on every keyboard. It has several related uses; in every case, it is used to show that what it is attached to does not make up a complete word by itself. The hyphens aid understanding, by telling the reader how words are to be grouped, which helps to avoid ambiguity. Diagramming sentences shows you how the parts of a sentence are related. That's not a bad way to learn grammar!

  • @lopzilla You have a nice life now. I'm sure if you ever find yourself getting your head kicked in and a police officer comes round the corner, I'm sure you'll take the time to tell them what a disgrace they are because they are a special. I'm sure you'd also rather they just walked on by and let you get your head kicked in rather than help you, because obviously a special constable wouldn't be good enough. Good day.

  • respect to the police having to deal with trash that this country has to offer

  • was a special good on u guys

  • we keep you safe, fukin idiot

  • How are they scum? Sure some cops need to be fired, but Special Constables don't even get paid and simply want to make a positive difference - how the fuck does that make them scum?

  • Many people are like that in this country. This country is anti-police and it's getting worse. Many of the good police officers are now moving abroad, and I don't blame them.

In countries like Canada, they are treated with respect.

  • I think they do have some justification for being anti-police IN GENERAL (what with cops arresting people for what was obviously self defence and with Manchester and certain other police forces being crap) but how can someone be anti-VOLUNTEER? It's pretty obvious the volunteers want to do something good, not bad

  • I agree. but people need to understand it's the pathetic laws and police guidelines that make them arrest people for petty offenses.

If a child threw a sweet at somebody in their class at school and it was reported to the police, the police HAVE to investigate it.

Ofcourse they don't want to -- it's the ridiculous guidelines/targets, etc. It's not the police officers fault, but the idiots higher up. Same goes for self defence, and many other things.

  • I've changed my mind about the specials after reading a message board with them talking on it - seems they're as power-hungry as the ordinary police (example: wanting to arrest someone for simply refusing to move from a public space when a bouncer told him to). Anyway, do you happen to know if there's a flash-free alternative to youtube? I can't watch a single vid now they've started using a new version of flash and I can't download things

  • Yeah - even when they tazer Poles to death in airports....(The guy who took that video in Canada was my colleague - my small claim to fame.)

  • i agree
