It's funny because I noticed a similar problem with my iPhone 3GS. I got a replacement phone due to water damage. So the lady goes here you go. Everything went good. And the sleep/wake button on the replacement phone was either more indented or it was not as "tall". I can't really feel it click when I press it all the time. But it's usable, just a little bit annoying after I realized it.
that is weird, the sleep/wake button on my touch is easy to push on the right side but the left is really hard to push and the middle is medium. maybe this is because the touch sleep wake is on the left not the right.
same thing happens to me on my itouch's standby button. the left side gives but the right side don't. i dunno why but it is on a perfect flat laying. i dont get it
i think the home button is lower on the left side on all the iphones on my its lower on the left side on my aunts iphone its lower on the left side now a new white iphone is coming to me and i'll check it out

Hey there Carlos, I'm a clean freak like you and looks like we have the same OCD issues haha. The button on the top of my wifes iPhone is also a little lower on the left hand side than the right, she has a white iPhone. My black iPhone is perfectly straight and sticks up higher. Maybe it's just the white iPhones.

My sleep/wake button is also lower on the left than on the right. Quite a bit. Left side almost flush with the phone; right side much higher up.

My button has a very very minor amount of give on the left side before it gives tension and clicks, while the right side has none.
Might have to do with how the external button sits on the actual switch on the board.
