bought mine 3 weeks ago. i won bike of the month (1 week later) on a website and got a $100 coupon towards parts. i get a ton of attention on this thing and not to mention, its too much fun to ride!
@mamiferuD because they are scared, just like they were scared giving the enduro bikes to that jedi and his fat friend when they went round the world. Stupid company which is too afraid to take risks...what sort of idiot runs it???
@metallichalibut you sure are right, forgot about that part... they said then that they didn't think it could be done...i don't know if they didn't trust their bikes....
I had a ride of one at a KTM demo day, was great fun, much easier to ride than all the journos and other people were saying, but for the road I still prefer my SDR.
anyone who says jap bikes are boring to ride has either not ridded one, or is a total fucking clown shoe. i've ridden a good range of bikes and the best by a long way currently is the r1
@chescarino In your world, perhaps. Right now the S1000RR, RC8R, 1098R, CBR1000RR and RSV4 are way, way, way better. With the new ZX10 to be introduced shortly, it's probably going to end up even lower in the rankings. It can compete with the GSX-R, but apart from that, not so much. Of course, the point is moot for 99,9% of riders out there, but still. I agree on the notion that Jap bikes are boring, which they are not. I've had both japs and euros, and they all make me smile.
@jxvwp if your cost cutting is resulting in horrible results you are being a moron at it.
Dont be silly and argue out of patriotism. These general trends and continental traits are pointed out at and studied at MBA schools. The Lexus LFA isnt half as expensive for the same kind of performance that an exotic car may deliver. youtube it. Heck even an EvoVIII was considered to beat a lamborghini gallardo on a track. I own a european sports car..i aint saying they are bad.
And yes if you know what you're doing cost cutting isn't a bad thing but the examples i provided were instances where you aren't afraid of spending a lot of money for some of the best people in the business doing their very best with some of the best materials and software in the world.
The only problem with these European machines is that most of them perform just as well as the Japanese Suzys, Kawas, Hondas, and YMHs. The only diff is that the price of one of these babies can get 3 Japs of the same performance and quality, maybe even with a little more econimicality. The only reason why a civilian would ever get one of these would be that the lucky dude is either mentally unsound or uses 100buck bills to roll up his cigars. Daily.
@zohanthecspro Agreed. I'd take a Honda CBR any day over this thing. Besides......this isn't the prettiest bike I've ever seen. Pretty bland and...well....ugly.
@hellscreamWC3 Yeah, thanks. That's the word I was looking for. Plus the seating position really does look ball-crushing and uncomfortable. Ugly bike.
@zohanthecspro...i have owned one for 13 months and 320 miles in 1 day with no aches and pains is possible....Honda B'bird and BMW K1200 riders on the same journey could not say the same......stick to ur Honda.....and buy a GM/Ford car while your at it
The facts are the RC is something different; bike journo's hated it on its launch they now love it!!! Who is right / Who is wrong?
@1971silversurfer What's that im not hearing? Hmm? Well, I guess you're wealthy enough to disregard the point that the money paid doesnt really give you what you couldve gotten if you had chosen a Jap bike. You are obviously the right one in your argument, but the price of this machine is more than two hands and legs combined. Plus it looks like shit. Aint i right?
@zohanthecspro ....No....Ive had jap bike (R6) and sold it...owned it 10 years got to know it inside out....it had no character....RPM yes....by the way these bikes are cheaper than many jap 4's sportsbikes 9k sterling for a 09 spec New ...... I suggest you pay a visit to a local optician.....or are you just green with envy but cant admit it?
@1971silversurfer So wait, let me get the facts straight. It took you 10 years to realise your Yamaha had no character. But this RC that you've recently bought, you seem confident that you have already got to know it inside out after a mere 1 year plus. The question is, will you still mantain the same proud views of your machine after another 10 years or so? Could you keep up with it as long as you have done with the R6? Promise me you can, and ill gladly agree.
@zohanthecspro I suppose the character comes from the element of knowing that with a european twin there will be an element of unreliability somewhere down the line.......whereas a jap machine will plod on indefinately doing its business yet no more giving little or no feedback to the rider. Yam wasnt changed because mileage at 16k miles in 10 years whereas rc8 3600 miles already since ownership...1400 of those in last 4 days....but i wont be keeping this one for 10 years i can guarantee it.
@1971silversurfer As being a twin i know eventually it will shake itself to pieces and i dont want that to become my long term problem and i knew that from the moment i purchased this bike....besides the mileage at this rate will quickly overtake the yams :-)
@1971silversurfer So you're telling me that a Jap bike is just too boring a ride? Can't say I disagree though. But based on your statistics I did a little bit of calculation and came up with the conclusion that your KTM does, in fact guzzle more petrol than the Yammy. Maybe its coz the RC8 is a higher spec machine, or you use it more often than the Nippon, but isnt that a little risky? You buy an unpredictable machine that has an uncertain future and has less miles to the gallon, but kicks ass.
@zohanthecspro sorry couldnt help evesdropping. Yes a jap bike is boring to ride compared to the RC8. Have you ridden one? if not your opinion has no merit. And the debate that jap bikes are quicker is true in stock form but not by much. If you have the money you can do what I did. By a new RC8 when they are first released then a month later they release the RC8R. Annoyed I payed $6500 AUD to purchase the RC8R Race kit for the RC8. I have seen these race and they pull away from v4 bikes
@zohanthecspro And not only are they better in every way shape and form from a jap bike Eg. Fully adjustable suspension front and rear, adjustable subframe, tells you how hot your tyres are and how much PSI they have if you have the attachment. Brembo brakes front and rear, WPS suspension and steering dampner, even tells you the temperature outside via sensors. Jap bikes use cheap everything. And all these things i have explained are STOCK. And jap bikes are like assholes, everyone has one.
@Mrrc81987 I'm glad you read the brochure thoroughly. It's so obvious you're lying. I can so evidently distinguish between the words of a true rider and from one who is not. Any dick would know that almost all litre-class Japs come with fully adjustable suspension, steering dampers and tyre heat and pressure sensors. And for the external temp sensors, who needs those? It's an overkill attachment deliberately added in the package to rip idiots (like you) off. But its ok, since you dont have one.
@zohanthecspro lol look at my videos buddy. I have one. bought it at 21. So how old are you and what do you ride. Stay tuned ill make another video just for you
Im 12 years old and my momma bought me a Ducati 999s for my 10th birthday. It's a sweet piece of machinery but I am not allowed to ride it till i learn how to get off mah tricycle. So im trying very hard right now, and hope my feet touch the ground (or even the slipper clutch) when i sit on my Ducky after im done getting used to riding on 2 wheels. Otherwise, ill need a paddock stand and a launch contraption to help me get started. Now, don't the both of us sound equally retarded? Dont thank me.
@1971silversurfer Anyhow, you seem different from the usual random trashtalking youtubers that I encounter so very often. If what you say is true, the very point of sticking to one bike for 10 years is one helluva achievement. That, I have to honestly give it to your loyalty and patience, you rock. Plus that also shows that Jap machines are very hardy and reliable. What an economical man you are! Hopefully, your new baby can live up higher expectations than the YMH, but I very much doubt it.
@Conqrix THANK YOU! i was wondering the same thing (my mom was born in Austria) and this asshole is being an asshole cuz his country cant come up with a better bike
@Conqrix cause not everyone has an rc8 going sideways at high speed round any road let alone a track for a pormtional video? dunno, its there prolem tho init
More like comparing an f430 with a 69 camaro. Power in the straights but gets smoked in the corner. Chances are buntcake only knows about gixxer1ks r1s and busas
actually they did my buddy has one and i think he said it was 23000 for the orange and black one. he also said they only let 23 of the orange and black one in the us.
My god, this guy would smoke any GP bike on the grid if he rides as fast as this editing shows.

Its amazing that KTM is selling bikes that are 100% ready for superbike class! Altho it costs about 40K euros..

so much for an R1, this could be a new haybusa challenger...
buntcakemadness 2 years ago
... um ... what? These are superbikes made for 10/10s at the track. Busas are just street bikes ... high weight and long wheelbase.
No one would cross-shop a superbike with Hayabusa. That's like comparing a Dodge Viper ACR or F430 Scuderia with an Aston Martin.
rlclark50 2 years ago
More like comparing an f430 with a 69 camaro. Power in the straights but gets smoked in the corner. Chances are buntcake only knows about gixxer1ks r1s and busas
