You are right, there is a great connection to the past there. The town was a lot more run down than I would have thought but the sites were well worth the visit.
aw springfield's not that run down. i've lived here my whole life, and there are parts of town that are lovely. but just like a lot of cities, we have our bad parts.
LOL! Yeah, now I know why. I just like history and have been wanting to go see the new Lincoln museum for awhile. What an extremely run down town but the Lincoln sites were worth it. Next time I will not stay the night though.
I am from Wisconsin, right on the border so I might shoot down there more often. I had a couple vacation weeks and decided to go there and then I went to Galena. Galena was great! I love that area out there. That is a place I will visit more often.
They really need to clean up Springfield more. It seemed like more of a low income city than anything. There is a lot of history there and you can tell by just driving around looking at all the very old homes. It is just too bad that these old homes are so run down and let go.
