  • I live in Vancouver, WA and tested my basement for radon 222 ...got a reading of 23 pci/L which gives my family a risk factor of smoking many packs of cigarettes per day. I was able to get my reading down to 6pci/L which is still above the EPA action limit of 4 pci/L but better than before. Remediated by digging a hole in basement floor and venting to an existing chimney that also vents natural gas hot water heater causing regular hot air exhaust, LIKE SMOKING, RADON IS A REAL HEALTH RISK!!

  • i dont want to breathe anymore. but i still want to live.

  • They interviewed homeowners?

They should have talked to Mike Litoris.

  • radon is almost 8 times heavier then air

so you can inhale it only if you're on floor 24/7

it is more likely that you will die due carbon dioxide rather then radon

  • LETS SMOKE RADON.

  • What a load of bs

  • Radon is slowly released by granite. Radon is an alpha particle emitter that can be harmful if breathed. It is worth finding out whether there is granite beneath a house and testing for the presence of the gas. The video is a bit dramatic and makes it sound like we're all facing an immediate and serious threat from radon. But denying this information simply on the basis of beliefs or feeling of it being a money making scam isn't wise.

  • this is stupid, radon is an inert, nobel gas,and you don't head fans to keep radon out of homes,it is natural, nothing will happen...this is only to spend money... :/

  • i think is just the earth farting..............

  • "Wow, so what do we do about it?"

    "You give us your money."

  • hey 4TIMESAYEAR I also an a certified radon mitigator, and the goverment only started studing radon about 20 years back .so it has always been there but now we know about it. also a funny fact, the bank makes people buying a house check for termits ?? ya termits.but not radon (yet) can someone tell me if they know anyone who died from termits ?? Oh ya and one more thing dirt basements (really) and were those (dirt) basements you talk about been tested ??

  • thats how to make money...

  • Holy-Terrorist:>*=* is possible of uranium or plutonium to make radon gas in long time ago?

Is possible to haves radon gas of radium fission in long time!

And what is used the radon gas, for tube electricity gas or other stuff, of haves stock of radon gas for futur stuff?

I speaking french and little english, A+

  • Radon is a scam - we used to have dirt basements and never had a problem with this. Now people have concrete basement floors and it's a problem? Rubbish. Did you hear the lady? "We really don't know what the long term risks are" - what a waste of time, energy and resources!!!

  • @4TIMESAYEAR You are an idiot. I am a Radon Mitigation Installer and depending on what state and area you live in, your Curie (Ci) levels can be very high. For an idiot like you, compare it to asbestos... is asbestos a real threat? That's what I thought...

  • the start of the clip made it seem like the average person knows what radon gas is. I am in my 2nd year of science undergrad and i have never heard of radon gas until my biochem class.

  • is radon gas found in mountains too?

  • @blackheart31000 totally depends. tbh, if u dont know of any uranium mines nearby, it really isnt a threat to you.

  • @capetorial I don't know so much about this, but I'm sure it doesn't have to be any uranium mines nearby to have radon in your house? At least not in Norway

  • @HannisPower well, true. however, if there arent any radon-active mines around your house, youre ridiculously unlikely to have radon in your house. this is a scare, and its bullshit. important for some areas, bullshit in most.

  • I'm sure Rn²²² was also a case included in the after-effects of the Atomic Bomb, wasn't it?

  • do you have to worry about radon gas in our water supply. Should my water supply be tested? Thank you

  • @eastofakron

Radon in the water itself is a concern. Drinking radon-laden water is not dangerous in itself, since radon particles pass quickly through the digestive system. However, water radon is quickly transferred to the surrounding air, making a water source act a bit like a radon conveyor. Yes, measure your water source, particularly if airborne radon measurements show a little bit high.

  • cool

  • @mondaypivot

    Yes
