The first chord is D major 7, instead of A maj. Try it & you'll hear it's right. The A maj chord you're playing works, in the sense that it doesn't really conflict w/the vocal melody, but the D maj 7 is better, has more soul, & makes a nice descending pattern (D, C# minor, B minor) that feels cool to play & hear Good job.
