How would those people involved in films get their money? OK Mosquito Coast has mostly big, famous, rich actors, (& rip R Phx) but what about the big films that were some actors only big star experience - receiving $150 a week royalties from DVD sales. I bought this film by kind of chance in Wales when I was a kid, about the same age as River in this. One of my favorite films. My father was like that as a kid, very similar, ranting about America and we lived the same life. So I'm about the same age as River now. He does have a kind of power in this film. I think it is a great film, very sad at the end and I've watched it many times. Anybody want to e-mail me to talk about this feel free. I'm sure your all amazing peopel if you like this movie.

Yeah, unfortunately both River and Wakeen grew up in an extremely rigid conservative Christian home. Which is what led River to drugs and alcohol by the time he was 12 years old. Wakeen came out of the tail end of it so to speak, However, he's starting to show signs of an addict himself. I feel bad for both of these guys and River......was so extremely talented and gifted.

The opening score made me feel as a kid and makes me as an adult feel like there is a better world out there outside of urban decay and the falsehoods of politics. One face one race. I've watched this movie like 8 times in my life. Just an esoteric reverence to reality that I would like to someday experience. Are those primitive people primitive in such environments or are they pristine to that of politics by the blessing in disguise for its very absence? I praise such people. True survivors.

I remember renting this movie with the movie

"Tucker" in the late 80's. This film came out in '86 and I think it was a good movie for the times even now. I liked the opening theme music to this film. I liked River Phoenix. Is there a soundtrack to this movie by chance? I saw this movie again recently for like the 8th time in my life. It makes me think a lot. There is a life outside of urban decay and corrupt politics.
