  • Awesome demo, very well explained.

So, from say, one metre high nettle, how much cordage would you end up with?

  • what's he chewing on?

  • @Rebadog1 His own testosterone.

  • Couldnt get my head around how to keep adding pieces in but i got it now.

  • There are nettel jeans and they are stronger than just regular jeans, i do think then that it'll work on a bow drill

  • for some reason i hate the word cordage

  • Thank you for a nice presentation of the process.

  • thanks for the valuable info. keep these vids comin!!!

  • great vid mate very very helpful. p.s. love the hat!!!!!!

  • Very nice, man! An amazing skill to have. Btw, I love the accent, and you're quite the sexy outdoorsman!

  • i dont think it will work for bowdrill ,have u tried nettle fibers for bowdrill and with results?

  • @primitivebushskills you need a few briaded together, ive done it, it defo works

  • @primitivebushskills This is supposed to work even for Bow and Arrow string from what I've been told

  • @primitivebushskills I think nettles will work for a bow drill if the cordage is tightly formed and thick enough. I would make it 1/8 to 1/4 inch thick (3 to 6 mm). The abrasion resistance of natural fibres is low relative to synthetic fibres, so your cord/rope won't last very long, but you'll definitely be able to get a coal. Here in north central California, we have nettles in the hills. I haven't tried them yet. I may give it a go.

  • dont listen to archery shops..u can make your own bowstring

  • How long would you need to let them out to dry?

  • Something Ive been messing about with. Excellent instructional thanks for sharing

  • when making nettle cordage break it in small sections 3 inch and peel it off the back of your fingers/hand... you will get all the fibers out this way... also should be dried first to extract more of the fibers..

  • i love your hat

  • Very concise, great video, thanks. 5/5

  • its alot easer when he crushes it if you split it open so you have one flat pece and you bend it in halve pith side out untill the pith breaks

the fibers come away in a hole sheet so you can make them as thick as you want them

  • great stuff Ash and Justin, well shot, informative and interesting, whats not to like 5/5
