@samisyosam they dont threaten us for cash. and i dont know anyone who gets pulled over. Russia basically doesn't enforce its traffic laws. But if they pull us over, they dont "threaten" us, they give us an easier way out of the situation. would you rather pay 100 dollars or lose your license for 6 months? i thought so. LIKE I EARLIER said, my country isnt perfect, not even close, but western opinions of russia are just fuckin wrong. and i know this as a fact.

@Dima4166 Sounds like extortion to me. I heard that the police force salaries are too low to make ends meet so they have to resort to this practice on a regular basis for a bulk of their income.
We just get a bill for a fine that we can contest in court. We don't have to pay it up front... in cash. That is sketchy as hell. At least in america that money goes into the system, not just one police officer who needs some extra cash,

@samisyosam yes you are right in many ways. it was a lot worse in the 90's when salaries for all government related jobs plummeted. its now a lot better than before, but still needs progress. their salaries still are quite small, and it makes more sense for them to do that. and yes, since the money doesnt go into the system, it causes many other problems. thats Russia's biggest problem still- corruption. but we also dont pay up front in all cases, like my uncle got a fine for unregistered plates
