is there really a rev limiter in the I6 Engines? wow, i'm kinda relieved because i thought something was wrong with my Throttle Body. No wonder it does go past 4000 RPM. So wait..no matter how hard u try, u can't go past 4000? is there a way to take the limiter off? and is revving the engine bad for the car?
Yeah, I've tried to rev past 4000 rpm, and it just won't (unless it's in gear). I've never heard of anyone disabling the limiter, but I'm sure it's possible. I'm not the guy to talk to for that though lol. Though I do know that revving is not good for the engine, though it's way better than achieving the same RPM in gear, because it's way less load for the engine.
mine stops at about 2500 with quick revs, but itll go to 4 if you keep on the gas. my shop teacher told me there was a way to disable the limit through chips; but it was way more involved and expensive than it was worth it just to be able to rev the engine.
@ArisingSoul Maybe someone defeated the P/N rev limiter... did you buy the truck used? Or it's just different for no reason. What is the redline anyway? It's not even on the tach and you can't always go by where it shifts at WOT
@grenade350 I bought it used from a dealer. I doubt the rev limiter was defeated, but I am not sure. The redline is 7k revs which I can do easily but prefer not to since I live in a packed city, haha.
for u guys if ur truck/car limits the rpm get a super chips and it will remove the rev limiter :]

stock? And I like how the V-8 lets you rev it freely... the I-6 limits the RPM to about 4000 when in P or N. I think it's stupid.
