  • If you wanted to encapsulate virtual reality welding in 3 seconds all you have to do is show the clip of that guy in a suit welding. Thats awesome. I hope i can try this out some day.

  • My school just had a welding competition, and the brought one of these in. Its really cool, I wish they would buy one, could save them alot of money.

Oh well, I guess real welding experience is more important anyways, but it'd be good for introducing someone to welding.

If you were an instructor I can tell you that you would be saying something different. This is an instructors dream.

Think of the money that can be saved before the student actually starts to weld.

  • Wii - elding, probably costs more than a welder . . . and what will you learn about the real world, you know, the one where moving air effects your gas, humidity messes with your SMAW rods, the G-D sun keeps messing with the view from your hood? Also looks like a great way to build bad habits, like leaving your hood up like that guy does. Save money, buy a welder and learn in REAL reality. Unless of course you only plan to weld virtual things, then feel free to learn virtual welding.

  • shivajesus,

The VRTEX isn't designed for an individual, but for training facilities to have an easy, portable way to show students some of the basics of welding, and maybe how great a career it could be. It allows them to introduce welding without having to build booths, buy consumables, and many other overhead issues.

We feel any program that allows more people to experience welding is a great thing!
