If that comment had come from someone without a history of sexist remarks, I might take it as just a really bad attempt at a joke... I've said enough stupid things in my life to want to cut people slack.

But he *does* have a history of sexist remarks, and some incredibly insulting ones at that.

Given that history, I don't believe it was just a run-of-the-mill stupid thing to say that he'll regret later, I think it's just one more indication that McCain is fundamentally misogynistic.
