They are saying that put another ex on teh calendar becuase they know how its gunna end. They know their relationship will just get ruined thats why he says there's simply nothing worse than knwoing how it ends or whatever becuase he is expecting his relationship to get ruined. SO he is say "ex" but really meaning "x" like marking abnother day off...marking another ex off.

so theres a bit of a confusion about "another x on the calendar".. it could be x, as crossing off each day, like @blurpleify stated.. OR it could mean 'ex' as in ex band members? :o

when it says "put another X on the calendar" it is no refering to ex as in ex girlfriend it means counting down the days of summer because its on "it's death bed" anyway i love this song panic! fan forever :) xx
