  • but its natural

  • .. has ever DEFINED what is optimal - over ALL humans & species? HOW MUCH worse is killing sea creatures by oil spills like BP than by fishing them - killing them by hooks or suffocating by being dragged out of the water by nets? I have long demanded that gov't outlaw meat - for the sake of the animals. Some optimizations are obvious, but many are not. I have TRIED to do the hard work of MATHEMATICALLY defining what it means for one situation to be "worse" than another, but I can't do it alone

  • @duck24x,

You want government to outlaw meat. It isn't enough for totalitarians such as yourself to allow people the FREEDOM to make their own choices--no, you have to impose your beliefs on everyone else.

  • @zoyclem And you want to legalize molesting children, because you want freedom for child molestors. The fact that subhuman fascist pigs like you refuse to even acknowledge the reasons for outlawing meat- namely, the holocaust and REAL loss of freedom that you force upon BILLIONS of animals - show you are not worthy of any rights. Boohoo. I'm really sad for your loss of freedom. Try living in a coffin for 2 years of your life like crated animals do.

  • @duck24x,

Throwing inappropriate strawmen out to bolster your argument only makes you look foolish. But that's about what I expected from one who embraces totalitarian views.

  • @zoyclem Boohoo. You don't know the meaning of big words like "totalitarian". Go sign up to be a "resident" of a fur farm or factory farm to know the meaning of "totalitarian" and what true loss of freedom and what true terrorism means.

  • @duck24x,

No thanks. I'll leave the self-hating unhinged fanaticism to you.

  • @zoyclem Of course: you don't have the balls to back up anything you say.

  • @duck24x,

Resorting to vulgarity to provoke an answer doesn't do much for your argument, chum.

  • @zoyclem I am the greatest thing in your life, only you're too stupid not to know it. I am infinitely more important to you than your worthless family or co-workers, because unlike them, I make you think. Obviously, they never have.

  • @duck24x,

Seeing that you're starting to go off the deep end, I'll go ahead and let you have the last word in this 'discussion.' Try not to hurt yourself.

  • @zoyclem You are self-deluded fool, shithead. You ARE NOT GOING TO STOP RESPONDING! I GUARANTEE it! It is NOT PHYSICALLY POSSIBLE for your brain to stop responding, because you have no self-control, the same way you have NO moral self-control over how much you consume, how much you eat, how much you pollute, how much you shop. You WILL keep responding!

  • I am getting overwhelmed by the magnitude of bad news: both "natural' and human-made. I've been racking my brains out on what to do - on new technology - since I graduated college with a BChE (chem eng) in 1986. Long before I ever heard the term "natural oil seepage", I imagined that the amount of oil from underneath the ocean just HAD to seep up at a MUCH greater rate than man-made spills.

That said, nobody - regardless of whether they call themselves an oil executive or an environmentalist.

  • this is crap misinformation and it's associated with another crap misinformation institution, the heritage foundation.

  • Drill and relieve the pressure. The natural flow will slow while the state of California will reap the profits.

God only knows that the left coast could use the jobs and added tax revenue right about now.

  • Go Oil Seeps GO! Lets go get us some oil! Seep baby Seep!

  • That crude should be used, with the revenue going to the entire state, not some private corporation; to help with the Calif economy that's been wiped out by conservative deregulation of financial markets.

    2. The "pollution" caused by the natural seeps: The organisms living near the seep areas are adapted to that sort of environment. But, when an unnatural spill occurs, it affects organisms that are UN-adapted to an oil-rich seawater environment. This video is alarmist in a misleading way.

  • @bapyou 98.5% of the oil and gas industry is owned by private investors through shares. So their win is our win. You would get the money in your pocket by owning shares. If it goes to the State you will not see one penny. Organisms "adapted" to oil???! I don't think so. Oil is oil and fish and birds don't like no oil under any situation. Conservative deregulation wipes out economy? How can deregulation wipe out an economy? De-regulation opens economies, regulation closes them.

  • that's my state!!

    Beautiful.

  • screw PXP

  • quick....lets tax nature for all that 'pollution'!

The environment should not be able to get away with ruining the environment!

  • The "environmentalists" here are the same ones opposed to expansion of new nuclear power plants here and abroad. Their support for wind and solar requires the building of coal, oil or gas-fired plants as back-up due to the inherent intermittent, weather-dependent nature of "renewables".

Good luck with spreading the news about this much-needed video. Look also at LFTR nuclear technology.

  • Great piece -- great info! Let's get past the fear and do what's right for the environment and state of CA!!!

  • I don't understand why people protest American oil but then buy Chinese petrochemical wetsuits and Arab oil, when our local oil is seeping out polluting our beaches and air unused and untaxed - a complete waste of natural resources - because highly paid "environmentalists" groups refuse to allow us to harvest it.

  • All this proof and the clowns in the Santa Barbara Countu Board of Stupidvisors STILL won't allow drilling in the channel. NIMBY! Go figure...
