It really does not even need the honey. The banana and apples will cover the flavor of any greens. Adding the spice will really cover it, honey is overkill. It is GREAT to see someone using NATURAL recovery smoothies. I think even the protein powder is unnatural. I did a romaine, broccoli, banana, apple smoothie this morning and it clocked in at 19 grams protein. Unlike meat proteins, the body readily digests and using plant proteins.
And, yes, you look fantastic! I'm only just starting out with strength-training, have always been a cardio girl, but the results from the strength-training have been great so far. :)
I'm gonna try this smoothie sometime. The idea of green smoothies never hugely appealed to me (love greens in salads, but in smoothies?), but at your reassurance that you don't taste the spinach, I'll give it a shot. :)
@whackowitch I'd forgotten all about this (and have not been strength-training for the past couple of months now, bleh), but I'll make a mental note to get back on track and try this smoothie after Christmas. :D
we can easily adjust what cduffell is saying according to how WE prefer to eat you know. There are SO many different types of Veg'ns. I think we should really be more tolerant to each other don't you?
Thank you for your comment. You are correct. Honey is not vegan. It is raw and unprocessed, however, and I do use it on occasion. Some people use honey and call themselves "beegan". :-) As I always say, though, you do NOT have to add the honey. I do it specifically for the insulin surge for building and repairing muscle.
It's not necessary for the smoothie.
The Sun Warrior protein is absolutely 100% raw vegan from sprouted brown rice. No animal products or chemicals of any kind.
Aren't the larvae in the honey which makes it not vegan? A lot of raw vegans use honey. Even rawreos which is a raw vegan style oreo has honey in it.
I personally hate honey, because of seeing larvae in it on some science show. But I hear that a lot of raw vegans and other vegans don't like honey because they are worried about bees having feelings. :))
Consuming honey- which is an animal-derived product, is not within the realms of living a vegan lifestyle, by definition. We (humans) essentially steal it from them on a commercial level. You can read up on honeybeekeepers if you like :)
Looks yummy and full of goodness - I shall need to try this - thanks for this! ;-)

agave is a good substitute for honey sometimes
but you have to make sure it's Raw.

@cduffell People could use agave or maple instead of honey. :)

Honey and many protein powders are not vegan. Your 'vegan' tags are misleading :(
