  • Holy shit, your rotator cuffs must be rooted.

  • did you get injured the next day? thumps up for trying...lol...

  • holy shit..... impressive weight but i mean, your shoulders arent meant to do that, i dont care how flexible you are, that shit you just pulled was asking for injury.. and guess what? once you get that shoulder surgery your lifting will NEVER be the same no matter how much physio you do.

if you had a larger frame and broader shoulders it wouldnt be as bad but shit.... that looked deadly

  • good strength - a little reckless tho haha

  • wow great lift i am trying to get a push up with my bodyweight i can do dips with 135lb forsets of 10 at a bw of 205 i do not have a spotter tot rain with do u think a backpack full of plates is a good idea, also should i use the rotating push up handles, regular handles or just use the floor for in order to lift maximal loads thank you and keep up the great work.

  • Doing 1 RM is great for Squats, Deadlifts and Benchpress, not for Dips!

  • now thats real; other videos have different plates in the center; all plates here basically same and the death wobble from that much weight

  • WTF is this for - how to fcuk your shoulders up - tw@t

  • mucho peso jajaja prefiero meterle dos disco y trabajr mejor ese ejercicios es buenisimo con peso

  • AHHHH! Horrible! Never ever do that shit again!

  • Way to much wieght for you mayby u should put it as Max wieghted dips

  • hell doing 200lbs +bw in impressive.

  • you dropped way too fast. keep doing that and your gonna have some permanent shoulder injuries. you'll be forced to take a lot of time off and lose muscle too.

  • @sal7t5 Oh thank god you found this video after 4 years and took time to educate me on my folly. I bet you got all excited there for a moment, it's like "hey let me tell the world what I know cuz i am so smart". Did you get a goofy grin while thinking that?

Well thanks for giving me a good laugh this morning. What are the chances you dip even +100 at 50 lb less bw? *feels compelled to check*....o right no videos...thanks internet hero.

  • if you cant handle constructive critisism you should prolly just train at home with your daddy & no camera, would save you acting like a overly defensive chump on the internet.

actually i retract my advice. keep doing that sloppy shit youtube hero.

  • @sal7t5

Bro what are your qualifications? background?

Thanks for telling someone who's probably much stronger than you with likely different goals how to train. It's also amusing that anyone who doesnt listen to your suggestions should train at home with their family member. You must be re/tarded or seriously lack any kind of logic.

You are also pretty stupid to use the very same phrase I used to conclude my prior post.

  • @menace3000

very same phrase?u might wanna re-read that. yeah i could tell you my background, qualifications and strength but based on your assumptions you would probably not believe me because i take a water bottle to the gym instead of a video camera (ie got nothing to prove). but keep being defensive, shows us all your legs arent the only small things hiding in those baggy pants. and i aint ya bro faggot.

  • @sal7t5 Yes you could tell me about your qualifications and since you're not very bright to lie, you got nothing to tell. It's cool bro. Do you need a hug? I am here for you bro.

My legs are plenty big. Would you like me to PM you some nudes? I know you'll like that. It's cool bro, I am very accepting of everyone.

  • @sal7t5 lol I can vouch for you as I tore my rotator cuff with weighted dips..................some guys just don't know when to take constructive advice.

  • @RiRiDon26 yeah man, "argumentum ad hominem". = fragile ego that needs constant support via youtube.

  • @menace3000 I would recommend going a little lighter, it is impressive but for one rep on a weighted dip you aren't doing much in terms of hypertrophy. You went down a little awkwardly and you can be at risk for tearing your anterior delt or pectoral tendon. Remember your shoulder is a very unstable joint so you dont want to be damaging its surrounding structures or like he said you will have a pretty significant recovery time.

  • @UrbanSpartan Thanks for the recommendation. My question to you is what gives you the expertise to make that recommendation? With simple logic we can establish that the video is 4+ years old, you dont know what my goals are, and what my current or past training consists off. So in the end your advice is very much meaningless despite the fact that you were trying to help.

This was a one time 1RM like for bench/squat/deadlift/etc. I do not train for hypertrophy. I am not a bodybuilder.

  • @menace3000 I study Sports Medicine and Exercise Science and have done so for several years. I have also been lifting competitively for 8 years. I believe i have the qualifications to give you some advice but what you do is your choice. I would just recommend not doing 1 rep maxes on weighted dips. When doing dips i will load 4, 45lb plates and aim for at least 6-8 making sure not to go to heavy because there is only so much your tendons are capable of handling.

  • @UrbanSpartan

I know reading comprehension is not something we all excel at, however like I said, I dont lift like this all the time. If you in fact 'lift competitively' then I would imagine you test your 1 RM from time to time whether in training or competition so this concept should not be alien to you. Whether you're testing your 1RM squat or weighted dips or any other compound exercise, the idea is the same.

  • @UrbanSpartan I find it surprising you dont have a single video of your lifting accomplishments since you have been 'lifting competitively for 8 years'.

  • @sal7t5 As a physiotherapist I would have to agree with you. This exercise along with incline bench press are the main causes of infraspinatus and teres minor injuries in my patients.

  • @TheJericho10000

Ooh youre asking for it lol. (btw dipped 8 reps of 4 plates and i weigh 195)

  • thats ridic dude, youre prob way stronger now

  • Good One.. Full RoM..

  • wow... impressive

    how much do u weight??

also, r your shoulders ok? its painfull to watch how low u go

  • Very strong dipping strength. I suppose that is a 1 rep max. If so, it is more than many people can bench press. On a lighter note, i wouldve never thought that that much between a mans legs would look so funny. Anyway, I have just embarked upon a weighted dip journey and hope to land some good dips, too

  • @rmsolympic1 Good luck. It's one of my favorite exercises and it definitely does carry over well to other pressing movements. I also like it because unlike bench press or weighted push up you dont need a spotter or another person to stack plates. Also yes it gets very uncomfortable as you have multiple plates swinging near the family jewels and you're walking bowlegged like a character of Oz after the unthinkable.

  • Ha ha ha ha ha,u guys have it wrong criticizing the uploader for doing the dip "too heavy".

1 rep max is supposed to be exactly like that since it is all that your body can handle.

  • this shud be reposted as weighted dip not dips cos u only got one buddy but i have to say u got a lot a fukin weight added

  • say hi to dislocated shoulders :-D but anyway, its impressive

  • @KnockCZ I am just fine. Thanks for sharing.

  • nice job man, good form

  • wow, looks like all these douches commenting have never heard of a 1- rep max. to all the trolls out there; get a life, get training, then maybe you will get a 230 lb dip like this guy.

  • how stupid

  • yes you are. thanks for sharing.

  • whatever you say tuf guy

  • whatever u say retard....go troll someone else's videos...

post something of value then talk...

  • You are either a troll or an idiot, I dont know which. I am not a bodybuilder and you're pretty dense if think that's all anyone does when they lift weights. You also apparently cant read or comprehend what i am saying as I already stated I am more of a strength athlete. Like I said post a video of anything you did of note or stfu and stop trolling my video.

  • sounds like someone is jealous. there there kiddo, one day perhaps you can lift something worth of note and then maybe you will have the balls to post it on youtube. This video was posted at the request of a forum. Using momentum at maximal weights is one of many training methods. Learn something about strength training first then try to lecture me. Nice try doofus.

  • Good Try! But this is the most funniest Weighted Dips i have ever seen!

  • What's so funny?

Feel free to post a single video of you doing remotely heavy, e-lifter.

  • This is funny. shut your piehole. that's the best dips I've ever seen. This guy went all the way down, which is very extremely hard you ignorant fuck. Don't disrespect this guy because you aren;t half of the man he is.

  • @TemplarX2 Thanks bro I appreciate the kind words. It's rare to see 1RM videos and even more rare people think about other training goals in existence beyond their own (which is most commonly bodybuilding these days) before posting some inane comments.

  • @TemplarX2 lawl he goes down so far because his body cant support all that weight

  • @nihtg idiot. If he can get it up, he surely can control it down as going against gravity is always harder.

  • @sujiwax you're a fucking idiot. have you ever heard of a max??? you should try for one dip shit. he struggled with it and had good form and got it up. the most important thing. think about it before you say anything about his dipping. if he was able to move that weight he can probably do tons of great quality lower weighted dips

  • i see snow falling inside the gym... hey check out my vedio of me doing dips with a 100 lb dumbbell between my feet...

  • impressive! but why try one rep?

  • yep. I got a few videos in koret.

  • is this in koret??

  • Wow man! heaviest weighted dip Iv'e ever seen!!

  • have you seen my Weighted Dips

  • Ya man, they were awsome!

  • post a single video of any feat...you're full of air..

  • Well I am using more rom than I really need to so I don't know your beef there. As for form that's a very subjective thing. My fast descent does not make my form bad. I am not a bodybuilder so perhaps you are coming from a diff world. Your statement depends on the goal...I rather hit 900 deadlift with imperfect form than have stellar form with 315...get it?

  • ahhahah fuckin hell i nearly cracked a rib i laughed so much, talk about wonky range of motion

  • time well spent. I am guessing you probably cannot replicate the feat.

  • id choose form and r,o,m anyday over weight, its like maxing out a press up lol, if your benchin 120kg with shit form or 100kg strict i know what id rather do

  • @michaelg69 you're fucking stupid

  • who the fuck maxes out on dips?? lol.. still pretty impressive though

  • i am guessing you dont max on dips... so it has to be bad.

    tks.

  • of course not.. thats like maxing out on bicep curls... lol

  • poor analogy.

Bicep curls=isolation exercises used by every wannabe.

Weighted dips=compound exercise that's safer than bench and just or moreso effective. I have also done 1 rm push up....i prefer weighted dips / push ups to bench press...except for convience.

I believe a better analogy is 1rm on weighted chins ups or pull ups.

  • whats wrong with maxing out on ANY exercise?!?!?! you are a moron!!!

  • Dips is nothing like bicep curls. Bicep work like just your biceps, while is a compound exercise. T

  • I'm suprised your shoulders stayed attached to your body, control that negative...

  • Damn son. Heavy stuff

  • just do them. do them heavy. do them through full range of motion. try some heavy negatives. Keep increasing weight, volume, reps, etc..stay patient.

  • w\e negatives how much % of ur max shud u do ?

n do u get the % of ur bodyweight plus extra weight or just the extra weight ?

  • hey man thanks for the help finally can do 135 plus bw

  • No problem and good job.

  • dam nj.

what do u suggest for getting better at weighted dips\pull ups ?

  • are kidding? check out my 715 deadlift. My all time best was +235 at 220lb about 2 years ago. Now my focus is back on my deadlift and squat. If you want some advice I can help you improve your dips.

  • ha ha ha ha hah ah ah ah ah ah ah ah h ah a

  • sorry, practice makes perfect

  • whats so funny?

  • i'm thinking this video... :/

sorry bro, work till u can actually do this, THEn post on youtube lol

  • Respect, fucking hell, I can dip 25kg (about 55lbs I think) and I thought I was a beef cake, haha.

  • oh, btw, this is inspiring to me, as i'm working my way up the rack in weighted dips. i did some singles today w/ 45's, and when i get to my goal of around 175 lb bodyweight, that should add about another 45-50 lbs on there!

  • so, i was wondering how you felt your stability on your left side was...it looked a little unstable. not the technique i woulda gone with by going down that fast, but as you said in a comment below: slow lift = missed w/ heavy weights! i lift fast, but go down a tad bit slower as i occasionally have trouble w/ the dip station i use as the handles can slip down. great lift, and it really shows how much raw power you have 2 thumbs up!

  • GREAT JOB!!!But when you have time, can you make a weighted pull-up video please?Thank You!

  • I honestly cant tell you. I may have been able to do around 50. However keep in mind being able to do 100 reps with bodyweight doesnt translate to +300 lb weighted dip. Just like in bench press, you wont be benching 400 lb by doing 100 lb for 100 reps...Start adding weight and working low reps....sets of 3-5 reps to start and then progressively lower the reps until you're working in the 1-3 range...strength is built on low reps and full range of motion.

    good luck

  • Great vid! Please answer I'm just wondering how many unweighted wide grip pull ups you can do, because I can only do 8 right now. I'm also wonering how many bodyweight dips you can do Thank You!

  • ya man i totally agree...

i love fuckin shit up in the gym i wanna make video's badly

  • i highly recommend that you do as it will greatly help improve your lifts. Do it for squats, deadlifts, push press, cleans, snatches, etc...your technique will greatly improve. I got a log on sherdog in training logs sections so feel free to check it out.

  • holmes,

    i'm not hating on you...

i know wtf full ROM is , i wouldn just control it on the way down a bit more, thats alot of weight bro. you dont wanna wreck your shoulders.

i also recomend, if on that 2nd rep just do a big neg if you thik you can't get another out.

    props

    dont hate, appreciate

  • that's cool. problem is with many lifts slow=fail. Try to clean or snatch a lot of weight slowly....just wont happen...same thing with heavy deep squat. The faster you descend and explode up, the more likely you're to get the rep...there's also often a gap in technique between what top lifters(i am not one but strive to be) use and what avg folks use....to move a lot of weight, technique has to adapt. and this was perfectly fine on my shoulders. a lot easier than bench...

  • that first one looked like it hurt.

    control son.

  • i only did 1 rep. that was the proper way to do a full range of motion dip. did it hurt? no...it's actually easier on the shoulders...perhaps it's time to stfu and go learn something instead of leaving stupid msgs on peoples videos.

  • holy fuck! nice work bro. i really feel sorry for your joints though lol.

  • same thing as squats...deeper you go the more muscles you recruit...the better various forces are distributed among various muscles....the more stable the joints are....the less stress on the joints..

  • never said your form was bad. and your right, and your wrong. after a point you will recruit more msucles, problem is they are intersticial and secondary muscles, which are not meant for that degree of stress, and therefore rely on your joints to take some of the workload of off them. i rep my weight + 135 pretty easily and have for some time. after a workout my joints hurt a bit. but they always recover just fine.

  • think is with +230 my joints didnt hurt. If your joints hurt with 135 then you're doing something wrong or using too much weight. 300 lb can be nothing or can be a world...it's all relative. Doing same weight for some time with pain = no progress=bad+joint pain=very bad....there's a significant problem somewhere for you...

  • your right it is relative. and as such, when i relate, the thought of adding 230 lbs to my waist and dipping down, and pressing up brings up thoughts of pain. could be due to the 6 years of pitching, or the fact that i weigh 160 pounds. either way i'm jealous that you have such strng joints.

count yourself lucky. i cant tell because of how unstable the set was that it was a difficult one. and i doubt 1 in 10 million could say that they didn't feel any pain in their joints the next day.

  • i have done stupid things in my lifting career, including badly injuring my shoulder with incline DB bench. However this exercise only served to strengthen my joints not weaken them.

Feel free to post your dip video and maybe I can help give you some suggestions. Most people I see online dont do it properly so they either injure themselves or do it with barely any movement for ego boost or out of pure ignorance. Good luck.

  • i have my weighted dips(135 lbs) video in my profile. it was about a year ago though, i need to get a camera with a longer video length. any advice would be great, thanks in advance.

  • shit! and i thought i was badass at these. . guess not. question for you--i can do 100lbs, but i just put a dumbbell b/t my legs--is there a difference b/t that and using ur method?

nice job keep up the good work!

  • Your weight+230=more than I can do. I don't recall seeing anyone ever going that low before.

If I go below parallel my shoulders scream. Keep up the good work.

  • what is the point of this? this will not build muscle!!!! lay off the steroids and do a real bodybuilders program with reps in the range of 10-15

  • Whatever you say 12 year old boy. Like I already stated if you bothered to read, I am not a bodybuilder. I am strength and power athletes. My goals are strength, power, and athletic performance. I dont give a shit about being 'big'. Yet aside from that I bet I have more muscle mass and lower bodyfat % than you. Additionally I have never done steroids. Perhaps once you switch to a real strength program and put forth the effort you wont need any steroids either.

  • first off ur an idiot you know nothing about powerlifting cause if u did you would know that u need max days to increase ur strength stick to bodybuilding

  • keep up the good work little shaky (j/k) itrollheaps is clueless

  • ??so to increase strength in powerlifting i need to do bodybuilding? max days? what would u classify 1rm as? this would be an equivalent to about 425-450 lb bench press...perhaps you either need to articulate your insults better or to go educate yourself more...HS education aint what it used to be but I am sure you'll find out that in a few years when u actually get there...

  • Rather than having all those plates between your legs, wouldn't it be a lot easier to attached the dipping belt to a low cable machine?

  • #1 i cant move dip stand next to the low pulley.

#2 the pulley is a different type of resistance than free weight. Freeweight is by far superior form of resistance if the choice for it exists. Although if i could use pulley it would be 'easier' but it wouldnt be better. I am after strength results not what's easier...

  • WOW! Good Job!

  • That was awesome, but dude, it looked like you almost took a face dive though. Good shit!

  • damn. you are the man

    thats some serious dipping

    right down deep exploded up.

check out my dips. im only able to double 135 pounds but i can get 70 kgs for one rep.

looks like i have along way to go i thought i was cool until i seen this vid.

    fuck

  • Try to lean forward more to activate your pecs more and go deeper...check out sherdog dot come forums...I am a regular at S/P forum on it

  • nice weight. At this point I'd probably look into the max bearing weight of the dip statiom lol.

  • meh. not impressed. im only 15 and I can do that 6 times!

  • hahah....you must be bored out of your mind....stick to postwhoring on sherdog.

  • Hey what are some of your other dip numbers with weight (for reps)? I want to chase your very impressive feat...

  • This must be a joke! You can't even flat bench 275, Zero. 450 lb. dips would rip your arms off :D

  • You know people can click on your profile and know that you ain't 15 and you can't do that 6 times either. Where's your video?

  • Eh, i dont usually post videos of my dips because they aint hard for me. i'll post when i get 315 for 2 reps.

  • What is the point of doing 1 rep. It proves nothing. Shaking and straining like that does no good. Only thing that is growing with that is his ego.

  • It is called a max lift and it proves what his limit strength is. It definitely has a place in any strength program and the thing that is growing is his strength.

  • Again it is my educated opinion that a 1 RMX does nothing to strengten or grow the muscle. I guess what I am saying if you are going to post something like that post someone doing this weight for 10-15 reps. That would show strength..

  • No, that would muscular endurance, which is an entirely different type of strength. If you want to build strength, it is best to keep your repeitions 5 and under. Single rep lifts are not ideal (except maybe with something like the deadlift) for strength building, but are good for checking limit strength. Build limit strength with 3-5 reps.

  • Powerlifters who lift a lot of weight only do 1-2 reps. There fat and bloated generally speaking. Bodybuilders who care about muscle quality do more than 3-5 reps. Ronnie Coleman who has won 8 Mr. O's did up to fifteen reps which made his muscle's grow.. Again a 1 rep max does nothing except give you dilusions about how strong you are. It builds no muscle and will not attribute to a asymetrical physique one bit.. We can argue about Muscular endurance all day, but strength is built with reps..

  • Body builders care about building muscle mass not strength. Powerlifters care about limit strength in their lifts. 1 rep max gives no delusions it proves how strong you are. If anything, having bloated muscles like Coleman gives you delusions about how strong you are. Quality muscle? That would not be a huge bloated muscle that looks nice but isn't strong. The only fat powerlifters are the superheavies. Look at any lower weight class for examples of quality muscle.

  • I will agree with you on most of this but Coleman is not bloated at 290 lbs and 3% bodyfat. His muscles are dense and mature which takes years of lifting with heavy reps for reps..

  • Coleman is a bodybuilder who is upwards of 330 or more in the offseason at about 8-10% bf...if you look at his strength relative to strongmen/powerlifters/olympic lifters he's not that strong. Consider that at about same weight andy bolton did 1250 squat and 1000+ deadlift..what you also fail to realize that CNS has more to do with strength and muscle gain for natural lifters than trying to stimulate individual muscles the way bbers doalso what is the point of coleman showing 1rms by your logic?

  • ronnie coleman is not that strong relative to fat powerlifters?? Right!! Ronnie could put on 50 lbs of fat and his lifts would go up to the 1000 lb range. Remember he does 880 deadlift at 5% bodyfat. We can argue about this all day! My education is the school of hard knocks. Lifting everyday! I challenge you to provide photos showing yourself at 140 and the time lapse photo of adding 70-80 lbs of muscle is ridiculous if you are talking about a short time span. 10 years maybe... Naturally..

  • Ronnie Coleman started off as a powerlifter dumbass. It i painful to even reply to your foolish comments. I need some Tylenol.

  • cole man was a powerlifter before he was a body builder

  • Yes it's a well known fact. So what?

  • sorry i was trying to reply to that other idiot, not you. i do weighted dips too because im a benchpresser so i understand quite well the difference between powerlifting and bodybuilding. im all for you man keep it up!

  • and i bet you couldve had 2 reps if you didnt go so low on the second one. 5 stars!

  • Thanks bro. Seems like a large majority of bodybuilders believe like they know something when the reality is quite clearly far from it. Bodybuilders are also often quite ignorant of other sports out there. No everyone trains in an exact specific manner that Flex, Muscle and Fitness, or whatever other trash magazine there is out there these days. One thing I learned is that to get results from the sample Flex routines, you really must be on steroids as they are complete garbage.

  • What is your education since you mentioned it?

10-15 reps is a waste of time. Strength is built on low reps primarily.

  • Like I said strength/muscle maturity is built on reps. Fuck powerlifters, were talking about bodybuilders! Show me one succesful bodybuilder that does 3 reps on every exercise.. There are none!!

  • First off I explained to you that I am not a bodybuilder so bodybuilding mantra does not fit my goals nor is it the best way to train outside of bodybuilding. Science is way ahead of bodybuilding. Also most powerlifters are lean. You are ignorant in thinking that most are fat. You are thinking of the heaviest of classes. Even in those classes those guys have 15-20% bf which is about what an average man walking down the street has.

  • JJcold&, you are an official idiot. I shall waste no more time with ignorance( I am talking to you JJcold7)

  • Wow, you responded to a comment I made 5 months ago??? Idiot, Oh, by the way when is your next UFC fight? You must be a badass, tell me you are not that idiot bending a horseshoe? I had an opinion and you chose the low road about my "opinion". Maybe OBAMA will put you on the National Council on Fitness that way there will be a least two idiots in the Whitehouse!!

  • My primary goal is strength not muscle gains. So that is what I do. Your tilt is bodybuilding I assume so that is why you find it difficult to understand me. However as a sideeffect I went from a scrawny 140 lb at 16 with 15% bodyfat to 210-220 at 6-7% bodyfat now. I have never taken steroids/prohormones/hgh and my lifts are pretty good relative to my weight...so who am I really fooling?

  • that's an awesome lift. although I would have been more impressed if you did something like 200 x 3.

  • not to me. I am glad I am not actually trying to impress anyone...posted this video to show that I wasnt full of air to some people of a forum.

Whether something is impressive is a very subjective. Perhaps +100 for 20 reps would be even more impressive.

  • LOL, you need a loading pin from IronMind.

  • I have a loading pin and a carabiner but it's not comfortable to use for dips or pull ups up...

  • thats dame impressive.. plus he went very low.. alot lower then safe but still dame nice... good job...

  • Great strength, i think it's a bit risky for your shoulders going that low but it makes it all the more impressive.

  • What exactlly you guys dont like about his form? Depth was very good and he got it to full lockout.

Of course comething like a 1RM dip or pullup always look a bit strange. But thiy one rep he did looked solid to me.

  • How can he see you if you don't post a video? Instead of bad grammar and name calling, why don't you post up a vid showing what you consider proper form for heavy weighted dips? It only makes sense instead of internet-arguing.

  • wow, that was fuckin impressive, I've never seen a dip with that much weight! and to you guys that are trying to bring form into the picture, how do you expect to have impeccable form when that kind of weight is involved?

  • whatever you say...are you per chance wearing a mask and cape?

  • Impressive. Refreshing to see an actual full ROM on a weigthed dip. Ignore the idiots who say you'll hurt yourself by putting your joints through a natural, full ROM. You've obiovusly progressed cautiously, intelligently, and correctly, and you know what you're doing.

Nice work. Most weight I've seen on the internet.

  • I see why you use chalk on weighted dips. Today I did em with a weight vest at 100 lbs and 45 on my dip belt. I set up and on my first rep my grip gave out and I got thrown off the bars, landed on my feet.

Set up again, keeping in mind to grab tight. Did 2 reps, 2 reps and 1 rep. Gonna use chalk from now to on.

  • @h7jb7sg1e This has never happened to me once with weighted dip. You should deadlift a bit to strengthen your grip and wipe the handles and your hands with your towel or shirt before starting. If if feels slippery do not continue. Chalk of course helps a lot. This seems like an awful thing to happen. I always cautious when i work with heavyweight. One mistake and you are no longer the same

  • Nice job brother!

  • Nice work.

  • nice strength

  • Nice, man! What's it gonna take for me to get you in a St. Wilhelm's shirt for your next vid?

  • Sweetness
