If you pause the video just right before the zebra image fade into an elephant statue, you can see a skirt at bottom left. "The Timetraveler" just wanted to greet her. IMO that's just what was going on here.

Why do you all assume it has to be a phone as our technology exists today? I mean, as long as we're indulging the fantasy that this could be a time traveler, why couldn't that be some advanced communication device that uses a quantum-entanglement-link? Quantum entanglement seems to transmit data instantly through space AND time. It would be an ideal "cell phone" for time tourists.

I think quantum entanglement would be worse than useless for communication through time as it only lasts in the region of milliseconds and it is extremely fragile, even the most simple interactions would break the entanglement. I doubt any amount of future technology would be able to get round this.

Sorry, but I would think time phones that work by quantum entanglement is science fiction, not science fact.

@genericmember1 For the record I agree with you. But I would encourage you not to discount things that seem like "science fiction". A great much of our technology today was once considered sci-fi. If science doesn't forbid something outright, then its likely applicable.

@guitardemon6 I'm afraid don't see it that way. I don't think it's physically possible to transmit useful data over a quantum entanglement phone.

Even if you could get the entanglement to somehow last over a significant period of time and not allow for any interactions to break the entanglement, I'm still not sure that you could transmit any useful data. The receiver wont be able to infer anything from the particles behaviour.

I just don't see how it would work sorry.

@genericmember1 Anyway, sorry for brushing it off as sci fi. Maybe it will be possible in the future, I am going by what we know today. But I'm afraid to me it sounds like when they use dubious physics in Star trek, it sounds nice, but I don't think it's physically possible.

@genericmember1 I get that. But see it this way; if you can identify a change in spin, you can transmit binary. spin up=0, spin down=1. Don't misunderstand, I'm not at all saying this is necessarily viable, just that while its very challenging from a technical standpoint, its not physically impossible and cannot be discarded out of hand.

Looks to me as if is a woman, not a man, if you see the markings of her shoes and pantyhose, along with the hat with feathers, its a woman who seems to at one point to be talking directly to the ear piece, but how is this possible with no towers in 1928 that could allow a signal of that magnitude? @B4TT3RY How about this? Cell phone towers aren't needed for walkie-talkies. To me it looks like one of the first walkie-talkie prototypes. Look up model SCR-194 on Google. I don't think that it's a woman. I think it's a man with women clothing, some padding, & a big jacket on that is hiding the walkie-talkie. The SCR-194 was first invented in 1938. The OSS preceded the CIA, & the CIA typically has access to advanced technology 10 to 15 years before the public even knows that it exists.

If aliens can transcend through space & time or future humanoids can travel back in time to get to us I highly doubt their communication device would be so big.
