I'm just trying to point out to CoS members *why* they feel so frightened and alone.

The very freedom they sought by joining CoS is being systemically ripped away from them through a series of abuses.

If it's any consolation--that was one of the most personally painful vids I've ever felt compelled to make.

It is however, I believe, someone called these tactics exactly what they are.

What's sad to me is that they're isolated by language as well--all that Sci-jargon. That's how their reality gets silenced.

I refuse to use it--it stops communication, it does not increase the ability to communicate.

English is a direct and clear language. Jargon is designed [including Psych-babble] to obfuscate not enlighten...

It's been 24 years since I read Orwell's 1984. (That's right, I read it in 1984). So my memory of the details fade. But several things are burned indelibly into my mind. One of them is the concept of Doublespeak, or how one can control the political debate by controlling the language.

I guess you could say Scientology is double plus ungood.

I disagree. Language establishes reality, including the 'actual' reality you speak of.

Like any tool, language can be used for good or evil. Scientology's term 'ethics' is evil because it displaces the common meaning of ethics (making it unavailable) and substitutes obedience. On the other hand, I'd say 'tech' is a useful addition, and I note that the critics have adopted it (e.g. 'Gandhi tech').
