Whales are a genus, not a species. Of the whale genus there are 67 species. So it's not possible that 'whales' are endangered. The argument is that certain TYPES of whale are endangered. Minke whale is THE most populous whale, and there are about 1,000,000 on the planet. They are not endangered.

Interesting that on the show the Japanese whalers are seen holding signs that say "We are only weighing stomach contents" and then, when the Irwin actually witnesses the whaling activity, the stomachs and intestines are all just thrown to the ocean because the meat is actually being harvested. What happened is, they partly lost control of the Steve Irwin just as they were trying to get very close to the whaler ship. There's no way anyone would believe it wasn't a deliberate crash because the Shepherds were indeed trying to "intimidate", but there was no intentional ramming by the Sea Shepherds

Whales are a genus, not a species. Of the whale genus there are 67 species. So it's not possible that 'whales' are endangered. The argument is that certain TYPES of whale are endangered. Minke whale is THE most populous whale, and there are about 1,000,000 on the planet. They are not endangered.

Firstly, try reading a book or two 'alextilson' you bloody clown. they are not throwing bottles, they are stink bombs which don't stop stinking. secondly, they don't fail in their objectives. Over the past 30 years, Captain Paul Watson and the society have done more to impede, stop or financially bankrupt more illegal whaling operations than all the worlds governments combined. Nothing but eco-terrorists. As someone who works at sea, these guys need to stop being hailed as eco-heroes, and taken to task for what they are doing, which is piracy, nothing more, nothing less.

@diegothegreatthe66th thank you for not cursing at me. but they are terrorists. the japanese whalers do have a right to defend themselves from unprovoked attacks by the sea shepherd. all the violent actions from those people put the whalers lives at constant risk. there are other ways to stop whaling but terrorist attacks is not one of them

@woodsman513 Well notice they don't actually ever use things that will hurt them. (How is buteric acid supposed to hurt you?) Whereas the whalers use LRADs on the anti whalers. To that helicopter it is truly devastating. So in a way they are justifing what they they do (the anti-whalers not the whalers).

And at the end of the day, I believe it is the short length of their dicks and the whole inadequacy thing that stems from that. They feel like men killing whales. Most Japanese do not support whaling. But there is something sick about a culture that celebrates this slaughter in these modern times. Call it insensitive or morally blind. But I do believe it is a sickness that pervades deep into segments of Japanese society. The Japanese are losing prestige around the world because of their vast destruction of the oceans and heartless killing of whales to please the taste buds of a few status-conscious dick-heads.

There have been some crazy situations that sea shepherds have been in, but if sea shepherd wanted to kill people than they probably would have made a pipe bomb and blown up the factory ship. No one is out to kill in that battle but the whalers.

Interesting that on the show the Japanese whalers are seen holding signs that say "We are only weighing stomach contents" and then, when the Irwin actually witnesses the whaling activity, the stomachs and intestines are all just thrown to the ocean because the meat is actually being harvested. The Japanese whalers, akin to the Black Rhino horn collectors who supply Japanese society with "aphrodisiac," are liars and opportunists and should stand trial in the Hague for crimes against humanity.
