C'est vrai que Mr. Reggiani savait chanter l'AMOUR, meme s'il n'aimait pas etre considere' un ''chanteur de l'amour''. Et pourtant, j'aime beaucoup ses chansons d'amour, malgre' le fait que la plupart d'entre eux soient des chansons tristes... Pas celle-ci, qui est un peu particuliere, par sa portee positive, ainsi que par la maniere disons plutot parlee qu'il a choisi afin d'envoyer ce beau message d'amour et d'esperance.

A' mon avis, la plus belle voix que j'ai jamais entendu. ''De velours et de soie'', pour citer le titre d'une autre chanson (aussi belle) de Mr. Reggiani.

Il y avait beaucoup de belles chansons qui, malheureusement, sont tres peu connues. Et les paroles, comme d'habitude, sont aussi belles que la musique. D'ailleurs, il a raconte' qu'il lisait les textes avant et puis ecoutait la musique. C'est vrai aussi qu'il avait beaucoup de choix, puisqu'il etait entoure' des meilleurs collaborateurs. Comme disent les anglais, ''birds of a feather flock together''.

That dialetic of the first that goes through the other is just genious. It is in all of the poem. A wonderful text. Expressed in an irreprehensible singing by M. Reggiani -- a wonderful style.

I wonder this song isn't given all of Reggiani's due value because of the melody, which is a little repetitive... :-(

You are very welcome. I couldn't agree more: a wonderful text, wonderfully rendered (as usual) by Mr. Reggiani. Concerning the final part of your comment, you might be right: the melody is a little repetitive, but it's exactly this repetitivity, this ''pattern'', if you want, that makes it so easy to remember. It's what the Germans would call a ''schlager'' (this is because I hate the English counterpart, that is ''hit'').

I don't know what's happening with the comments: they come and go, God knows why. Should be this new display on YT...

Anyway, Reggiani's style was made of different sub-styles: political songs, love songs (which I prefer) and even some comic songs, such as: ''Arthur, ou' t'as mis ton corps?'', ''La complainte du tabac'' etc. Yet, he was just PERFECT, no matter the (sub-)style...

After giving a second thought, i agree with you: this is more of a spoken style, which, however, should be no surprise, since he recorded 4 albums dedicated to various French poets, such as: Baudelaire, Rimbaud, Appollinaire, Prevert, Vian etc. His deep voice allowed him to convey the most intense emotions, via music or poetry, as well.

The music is repetitive because he's rather using a poem to reach music than using a poem to fit a music!

That makes Reggiani genious in another perspective!
