I understand what Malcolm X was saying, but evidently, Martin Luther's way of nonviolence was much more effective than simply being "defenselessness". It was effective in hitting the conscience of these oppressors and many white people changed their opinions. To respond in violence would only cause the white man to fear, at best. I understand what Malcolm X was saying, but evidently, Martin Luther's way of nonviolence was much more effective than simply being "defenselessness". It was effective in hitting the conscience of these oppressors and many white people changed their opinions. To respond in violence would only cause the white man to fear, at best. Gandhi led India to Independence through preaching pure nonviolent resistance, a.k.a. civil disobedience, not submissiveness. What Dr. King did was similar to what Gandhi did. He said we are obligated to break unjust laws, because an unjust law is no law at all, and therefore needs to be resisted. He and his black brothers and sisters went to jail willingly. To be "submissive" would be to not resist at all, violent or nonviolent, and to just mind your own business and allow things to unfold.

It's not a very long read and I recommend it to everybody. @LionTipu Very ignorant. You can't just make such a bold, inconclusive statement and have nothing to back it up. Martin Luther King and Malcolm X both had their own opinions and methods. Either way they were both leaders, stood for what they believed in and died fighting for great causes.

I think if Malcom X were alive today he would use Linux and probably Martin Luther King Jr. too. I have a dream that my four children will one day live in a nation where operating systems will not be judged by the might of their monopolies but by the content of their kernels.

@p4pj ---Who ever you may be, I AGREE WIT YOU. I feel the same, white society only think it's cool if you hang with them when you act with a "WHITE CONSCIOUSNESS" but if you act with a "BLACK CONSCIOUSNESS" or a "HISPANIC/INDIGENOUS CONSCIOUSNESS" then thats when they stigmatize your characteristics or make you seem as if you are taboo. SOME WHITE PEOPLE REALLY DO ANGER ME....But we must forgive them, and keep fighting for our own people .
