I liked the music from the late 60's up until the early 90's. When rap and hip hop overtook the radio waves, oh well you understand, but remember the 70's did give us disco. I wonder how many "artist" today would not want to release a song because they thought it too commercial. Jim Morrison did. Loved this song and group.
@TacomaPaul I dunno what decade you would like then.. Definitely your own opinion.. I think all music in the 20th century had amazing talent accept for mid-late 2000s & the one to come, you got that right.. 80s is the golden decade, you're just labelling the whole decade as shitty just because of one song you don't like
@Justinhadley. You may be well right, but then again, history repeats itself. Lady GaGa may have never known this talented singer, and that she is. Lady GaGa has nothing on her!
Man does this take me back. This tune has to be in the all time 10, of that era, " The Reagan Years". And i'm so very lucky to have rode that wave, and it was what they called " new wave" and it was incredible ! It was like the " British Envasion " of the 60's but 80's style. It was everywhere. In "82" when this came out i was a young 18 year old, now, 48. But wouldn't tade for nothing. Long live the 80's !
I was Xmas shopping and thought I heard this playing in the background of a store with a different beat. Someone should sample, freshen up and re-release this audio goodness.
lady gaga definitely copied dale's image but is not allowed to admit it and must give praise to black ghetto hags instead. i do not care if good music is ever made again as long as i can get to the many good retro songs already made and don't have to be exposed to the total crap bags of the last 20 years..
Missing Persons would be great for the show "Bands reunited" which was on VH1 I think. Hey maybe if we all call in and request it it could happen. Whadaya think?
I would pay good money to see Missing Persons right now but would not pay even $1 to see Lady Gaga perform and she is surely in her prime, if you can call it prime.
@gigichisum It is not a very original idea considering Jim Morrison had already done it over 10 yrs before (Mr Mojo Risin') & even incorporated it as a lyric into the classic song LA Woman. The Doors heavily influenced bands of the late 70's & early 80's.
Life is so strange... There is a definite 60's, Doors-ish influence to Dale Bozzio's music. Yes I said her music, because she essentially was missing persons :) Anyone who wants to see a good cover of Mental Hopscotch... check out Nancy Silva Project on yt. She did it live abunch of times. She has an amazing voice and presence as wlel. Kind of a punkier version. I love female fronted bands because they empower women and show just how special they are in a male controlled business...
She was HOTTTTT! If I remember correctly she did a "pictorial" in CLUB magazine (or another, different Title) back in the late 80's early 90's. And I thought her name was Dale.
Terry Bozio's chord changes are fantastic. Saw them at Michigan Theater in '83 (Ann Arbor). Their music is still cutting edge. If only they had gotten out of LA and all that goes with that. LA is seductive.
Its no wonder that Missing Persons' music was quirky yet had some deeper undertones to the lyrics - after all 3 of the founding members were associated with Frank Zappa..... who we all know was the undisputed "King of Quirkiness"
great song to use in a video about the 1975 major league baseball season, ESPECIALLY WHERE THE 1975 WORLD CHAMPION CINCINNATI REDS (108-54), THE 1975 NATIONAL LEAGUE MVP JOE MORGAN (#8 - CINCINNATI REDS), 1975 WORLD SERIES MVP PETE ROSE (#14 - CINCINNATI REDS), AND THE 1975 MLB ALL-STAR GAME WON BY MY BELOVED NATIONAL LEAGUE!!!
very interesting comments to this song....my son got an autographed baseball from Joe Morgan the day after the Reds won game 7....we left Cincy for Milwaukee that summer (UC PhD 1975).....best world series ever!
@docpsy49 i only wish i could have been an adult back when the 1975 world series was played! i REALLY enjoy watching the game 6 in its entirety (NO, NOT the drive through version) when it comes on espn classic. i must admit that, also, being a NEW YORK YANKEES fan, i will say that my two favorite teams are the yankees and WHOEVER is playing against the bloody red sox! i AM also a REDS fan as well. i also enjoy watching the 1976 world series as well - only time i like seeing the yankees lose.
