  • totally agree with this

  • Now I know where I recognize you from! You were on wifeswap!!! It was an hilarious episode. You're an idiot!!!!

  • noob islam owns!

  • infidelguy

"brother" richard DID NOT found atheist nexus. Kym Membe did ON HIS OWN. i know that for a FACT. atheist nexus was given to richard by Kym. So please don't recognize him as the founder.

  • Such violence. Glad religion is so peaceful and makes the world a better place. (Sarcasm)

  • (Sarcasm) Who said any thing about violence, this man knows NOTHING about religion, Knows NOTHING about God, Never feeled the presence of the lord when in trouble, so he tries to convert people BACK to the DARKAGES. . . Hundreds of thousand of years the man kind beleaved in God, any this IGNORANT wants us not to . . . To me .. this is (Sarcasm)

  • That is the stupidest thing I have ever heard! The host of this video was a christian. And as for me, I was a christian and "felt" god, but that was my dillusion.

You are a christian? Wow, after those comments, it reinforces one the reasons I left religion.

Also, christians and the church believes the earth is only about 6,000, not hundreds of thousands. So, education yourself before you speak... also, take a spelling and grammar class. You look like a completely retarded piece of shit.

  • One more thing.... the free thinkers and skeptics are the ones that got us out of the darkages. People who thought outside the box and wanted man to move forward. Study some history too, you brainless idiot.

  • 1 -FUCK YOU CUCKSUCKER, 2- our prophets tried the best for us to be better persons, all religions reach for one goal, to obay God and to follow his orders

3- who think they are free, are actually in prisons. and those who spend there lifes for God's orders shall be rewarded 4- makes humans different from animals ( like you, a FUCKING pig ), 5- Dont call me a brainless idiot, the smallest hair on my ass is worth you and your family. replay me, i will make you a world HELL

  • @ALDabbagh1988 - Wow, Haji... you have some serious issues! Get some professional help! I will reply, because I am curious about the "hell" you can bring me. You are using god as a crutch. You're life isn't better for it.... as it seems, god is making you a horrible person.

I feel so bad for the potential of aborted babies, but low life idiots like you get to flourish. Are you following god's orders by being such an asshole?

  • @besidemymind Ok, mir not asshole, tell me what do u beleave in ?

  • @ALDabbagh1988 - I believe in making this world better, I believe in society as whole, not selfish individuals. I believe in people doing the right thing because it is right and it makes the world a better.

I don't believe in any god or supernatural being. I believe religion is the biggest problem in the world. And once people get over religion, and the whole heaven and hell thing, they can make this world a better place.

  • @besidemymind OK, what you said is very good to happen. But, before relgions, people ( and this is history not from me ) were barbarik, did anything they wanted. What is a religion? A religion is a ethnic group that who enters must follow rules and laws,.. .right. Have there beleaves and dissbeleaves.. . . right. Lets talk about the 3 sematic religions, they approximatly have the same rules (all say, Dnt lie, Dnt steal, Dnt rape, Dnt kill )

  • @ALDabbagh1988 -Religions and beliefs in high powers have been around since man started to think. Religion has been used for things man could not understand. Things that science now proves. Believing in a god and some type of holy book, putting your whole life into it for some after life is just crazy.Man wasn't barbaric, man was under developed. But with the evolution on science, man has become rational and developed into reason. All of the rules you listed are broken by religions.

  • Broken by people that are not religious . . . I mean let us asume that there religion is made by a man, what is his perpose, why did Moses had the trouble to go against the great pharaoh that every one feared, why did Jesus whent through all that troulde to send his message, Mohammed was offered to be the king ( or president ) of his tribe in the exchange to leave the reigion he carried, and he said no. I mean they didn't ask for money, didnt ask for power, only to beleave in ONE GOD

  • @ALDabbagh1988- I am not saying that some of these men's teaching aren't good. Jesus had great principles, Moses bringing the ten commandments were good... but religion brings the diety factor into morals and ethics. And it's funny how it ALWAYS fails. I am not saying that Jesus, Mohammed, and Moses were not good people. But they were not holy.If they did follow these rules, it would be great. But they don't and they say "It's ok, I believe in god!" Just like you did with your bad comments.

  • Sorry for the comments but you called me a brainless idiot fist, anyways, all i want to say is that God is there and we all beleave in, even you, for example, if you are in the sea with a ship that is 100% going to sink, it is rainnig, you can see shark tails on the surface, all going down. the first thing your heart will think of is God, you will aotumatically say " OH Lord, save me", also prophets DID go with the rules, WE are the ones that are not being loyal to them, WE did the change

  • @ALDabbagh1988 No, actually I would not cry out for god in that situation. It's funny you say that, how do you know? Have you ever been in a situation were you believed you were going to die? And how do you know that everyone in that situation would? I have been situations like that. I have spent 3 years fighting in Iraq. I have been hit by bombs, shot at... and never did I ask for god to save me. I thought of my wife, my parents, my sister, because to me those are loves of my life.

  • Although your family wont save u, and yes I have been in situations where things were VERY critical, and praying to God saved me. At last, I have a question for you, but it is not for me to know, it is for you to think about. Why are we here, Why are we alive, Where do you go after we die. For me, I found the answer for them. I will think too about what you said . . an open mind is a healtthy mind. I am not to Judge you, who the hell am I to say whos going to hell or whos going to heaven.

    TC

  • liked you on wife swap

  • I'm in the deep south I wish I new more Atheist

  • There are a few of us down South, you aren't alone.

  • Atheists FTW!!

  • Atheist community? Why has nt any body thought of that before. Well, if you commune together your no better than Jones Town. Same thing could happen.

  • Yes... that makes perfect sense because obviously all atheists believe that the only way to escape the capitalist oppression is to commit revolutionary suicide and murder your children.

I am a normally very positive atheist, but you're unprecedented intellect made me want to go build a commune in the jungle and have everyone there take cyanide.

    Cheers :)

P.S: Read the Bible, think about it, try a good book. For the level of intelligence your comment displays, I'd try the Magic Tree House..

  • Yeah he's hangin out in your head... I heard theres a shitload of empty space in there!

  • looking at africa i come to the conclusion that he's on holiday then

  • wasn't this guy on wife swap?

  • yeah he was

  • No doubt organized religion has played a crucial part - some good and some bad , throughout most of human history.

I could see why ancient people believed in so many gods, like the Romans, Aztecs, Hindu's, Greeks, Egyptians, etc... because they were unaware of evolution, atoms, (well, some Greeks knew), gravity, diseases, etc...

Basically religion is where astrology ends and astronomy begins, where alchemy ends and chemistry begins, and religion itself basically becomes philospohy.

  • For the record, a think a healthy mix on religion and secularism is a good thing. I would think secular humanism would be ideal but that's just my opinion.

  • i just said it was nonsense lol

  • i think that atheism is a belief more than a religion as a religion is an organized approach to human spirituality, so ....

  • How is atheism a belief?

We don't believe! What's can't you understand about 'not believing'.

Theism is belief in god and the 'A' in atheism means without. Therefore, the total meaning of atheism is "without belief in god".

  • but its believing in not believing...

    okay thats nonsense,

    fair point

  • no, it's not 'believing in not believing'. where are you getting your information from?

  • How many Ayn Rand readers / objectivists / modified objectivists here? Anyone familiar with optimal(dot)org ? Or kurzweilai(dot)net -very good reason and logic there. I strongly recommend physical nanotechnology theory "Engines of Creation" by K Eric Drexler available for free at the kurzweil site, "Big Thinkers" ---Excellent stuff. Very useful for deep thinkers like the ones at AtheistNexus! "Out of Control" by Kevin Kelly is also great. (decentralist emergent order). "Anti-crazy" LOL!

  • I loved Ayn Rand for a while until I found out about her thoughts on homosexuality.

  • Yes, she was wrong about many things including homosexuality, Reagan, and Greenspan. But she was right about politics. The world is bigger than Ayn Rand, but she had a lot of good ideas. New and modified objectivists like Nathaniel Branden, Peter Voss, and David Kelley, as well as many Reason Magazine folks are wonderful. I strongly recommend Reason(dot)tv its a great site. Check out the other stuff I mentioned, especially the Eric Drexler. He's a true genius.

  • Atheist communities: "Just a nice place to go to escape the stink of unreason"

(The Christian mainstream smells like unchanged diapers). Herding cats = the exact same thing that libertarians say. Politics of reason = Individual liberty, respect for human rights.

Just wanted to give you guys props for taking a stand in a place where taking a stand is discouraged.

  • Librtarian communities come before Atheist communities. Since reason is the core of political freedom, the core of a free community will be freer than the faith-based portions of free communities. We'll talk eventually. I assume you have an interest in political freedom, even though this is the first show I've heard from you. There is a lot that can be done to eliminate religious prejudices in our society, and maximize the benefits of logic and reason. This is an excellent show!

  • You totally rock! You got a permanent listener when you pointed out your second year of tax nonpayment! Thanks for being rational!

Where do I weigh in? There is nothing wrong with human cooperation. Some atheists will organize with each other, in order to try to optimize communities of higher understanding. Certain markets would flourish in such a community, such as the Free State Project Community in New Hampshire and Wyoming. Moreover, those communities will be more adept anti-theocrats

  • the extremes of every society is what we see not the norm, like muslim bombers or god hates fags, atheists are basically the same . i'm an atheist and i don't have that much of a problem with religion i just don't believe it. pushing an idea on people about religion seems very christian for an atheist.

  • In case you hadn't noticed, there's a lot of destruction and death caused by religious extremism.

Should we not criticize religious nutbags who try to insert creationism in science class, deny teens sex education or impede scientific research? Should we sit by while fundamentalists try to legislate their "morality" upon us? Should we not ridicule the beliefs of murderers who kill in the name of their god?

  • how to become an atheist?

    read the bible

  • The religious are pushing to have no belief in a god declared a religion so they can associate no belief with evolution and stop teaching evolution in schools.

Believers might be dumb but their leaders are all graduates of theology schools where mind control and all sneaky things are taught

  • If there wasnt religion, we would have nothing to disbelieve, but we still by definition wouldnt believe in a god, therefore be atheist.

Therefore, it is not a cult or religion. Its simply a definition.

Next point. I am not hopeless. I am always hopeful.

Next, why I am here is not about faith. I simply am here and do my thing on my way to death. I dont care for any metaphysical reason to be here. Why cant I simply be here and have my worth/meaning in life be whatever makes me happy?

  • you cant do things your way becouse it threatens the churches power

    ps:fuck hope

....infact type george carlin fuck hope at the search thingy above

    its a good vid

    peace

  • You see, Atheism is a religion in itself - it believes in NOT believing in religion. In a way it's more of a cult following than a religion, but - I see Atheists as being hopeless people. HOWEVER I put them in the same light as the Christian/Judeo/Muslim zealots as well. Truth is, NOBODY knows why we're here, it's all about Faith. As for the guy 9 minutes into the video, he's... just there for propaganda. Truth is, we're all Human, we all die. Atheists, Agnostics, Zealots, FUCK Humans. Thats all

  • Whats with people. The rebuttal is all over the web. How do you miss it.

Atheism is not a belief in the sense that we are not an organised group. People who are atheists agree on just one thing. Thats all that connects us

Atheism is also auto-defining. You dont have to call yourself an atheist to be one.

If there was no religion on the planet, then everybody would be atheists by default because atheism isnt so much a disbelief in a god, its just not believing in one or even thinking about one

  • "atheism is a religion in itself - it believes in NOT believing in religion."

ok, so it believes in not believing in itself?

  • wtf are you talking about?

  • haha, im so uncomfortable. this is ridiculous!

  • no on the real though, plausibility arguments aside i think the fatal flaw in atheism is in ability to sustain communities founded on its principles.

  • you mean the lack of principles?

atheists dont really need to agree on anything just hold an election choose a leader and see how it turns out if he fucks up theres another election in 4 years

its not all that complicated if religion gets banned people wont just go on an cannibalistic killing spree

  • see im not arguing the theoretical aspect of it. Im pointing out a trend. That I have never heard of a long lasting self-sutaining community of people who created their community with atheism as one of their key tenets.

  • well..... i really cant say im suprised

  • Well, Sweden, Japan, Denmark, France, Finland, Norway, Czech Republic, Netherlands are all very agnostic/atheistic countries (not totally, just high %), not to mention Britain is very secular. A lot of these countries also rank very high in standard of living tests, which include tests on education, low poverty and low sickness rates etc...

Not saying that makes organized religion wrong, its just something to think about.

  • good point. but if u think about it all those societies like virtually all human societies were founded with religion as a foundational belief. what came first them ranking "very high in standard of living tests" etc. or their increased atheism. Even if the latter is true, religion is still a significant component of those societies especially for the average citizen so it is not necessarily clear that any percieved progress is a function of their atheism.

  • Ndugga: "Even if the latter is true, religion is still a significant component of those societies especially for the average citizen"

As a swede I can tell you that no, that is not true.

And what difference does it make what our foundational belief were?

We used to think that torture was a great method of finding out who stole that loaf of bread as an example... Does that mean that we should abandone modern thinking with forensic evidense and such because our foundation is something else?

  • awesome vid

    hay hay hay. ;D zb

  • hey kurtilein3,bible was a word of God it was altered over time by humans.thats y it has contradictions. That doent justify disbelieving in God.

  • It certainly justifies disbelieving in the validity of the Bible.

  • "God" is the answer to WHO and WHY before knowing whether the HOW shows that a WHO or Why was involved. If you don't know ALL the details involving HOW the universe was created, or HOW life came from nothingness and yet claim it was a god that did it, then all you're really doing is lying to yourself.

Also, the lack of evidence for the existence of a god acts as exclusionary evidence against the existence of a god.

    That justifies disbelief in God.

  • I've love to live in an atheist community.

  • It's gotta be better than a religious community!

    Thumbs up!

  • there are deist antitheists :)

you can be a deist that is opposed to organized religion and dogmatic beliefs, and that qualifies some good definitions of antitheism.

the youtube-user JohnLArmstrong is a deist antitheist, check out his videos, he is really great when it comes to exposing bible contradictions and debunking the bible.

  • That's nuts. All deism is fallacious and requires faith. How can you be antitheistic and still act like deism has any credibility?

  • kthonic: just watch some of JohnLArmstrongs videos, and you will understand.

the following labels apply to him: antitheist, freethinker, deist, highly educated, highly intelligent.

i didnt make that up, ill choose one of his better videos and link it... watch?v=4krycEGgug8

as you can see, hes quite good at debunking the bible.

  • What's the music? Tom Morello? On guitar? LOL

  • Everyone has to find their own truth. One that helps them to function in society.

  • okay then TLC then what do you call church. like-minded people meeting together and doing all sorts of rediculous things.

  • We love ya on the Dawkins site, Reg. Keep up the good work!

  • The only thing wrong with atheist online communities is if members don't spend enough time spreading rational thought elsewhere.

In the name of world peace, we can't caccoon ourselves with only the like-minded.

  • Our species, a variety of predatory hominid ape, is incapable of waging world peace. Our mental paradigm for conflict resolution is inexorably bound to notions of victory or defeat. The sapien mind, given enough time and adversity, might evolve a proclivity for win-win outcomes. Technology alleviates adversity, and we don't have much time left before extinction. I hope to be wrong, but if there is not a major turn around in the next few decades, we're friggin doomed.

  • infidel guy oh you don't understand how popular you really should be, but you arent as much as It should be

like, all the athiests should visit your site and subscribe

oh and im strill going to pay you money i just havent cashed my check in

  • There's nothing 'fundamentalist' or dangerous about atheists forming communities. Many atheists are socially isolated and benefit from interaction with others who share their lack of belief. Christians (and other religious groups) gain political power through organization. The lack of opposition from the non-religious has had devastating consequences for the separation of church and state in the USA in particular. The only power is in numbers.

  • Well said. I would however prefer to be with rational thinking people not just atheist. Many atheist where i live are just as bad as theist.

  • IG will you consider interviewing Starmexus84?A black atheist who left Islam here on youtube?

  • I like being an atheist on MySpace. My friends are like "YOU'RE AN ATHEIST, MAN UR GOIN TO HELL!"

Gives me a chance to weed out the retards.

  • Then you shouldn't say anything. I don't know anything about how building atheist communities would sound like Christians trying to throw out atheism, because it would make atheism stronger. Besides, man is a social animal. The purpose of an atheist community would not be to keep out different people, but to be able to socialize with like minded people.

  • My concern is that they are trying to turn atheism into another religion in order to profit off of it. What kind of atheist calls themselves "brother so and so" and claims to be an "ordained" atheist? How do you go from an evangelical minister (making money off of the religious) to the head of an atheist organization (making money off of the non religious)? How does the ENTIRE family switch religions so easily, and profit off of both. Come on! Think! Atheists are supposed to be skeptics!

  • he is being sarchastic, is not that obvious?

I am willing to give my 10% to these guys, at least they enterntaint me.
