I own a Teisco May Queen. Red finish. It's not in as good shape as this one but that's how it's supposed to be, imo. A guitar, especially as old as this one is supposed to have some wear and tear... some character. Collectors are retards. How fucking dumb does someone have to be to have a guitar like this and not play it? I can't keep my hands off mine.
@0phreak Actually that's a Teisco as well, it's called the Spectrum. They are very rare, and fetch a pretty penny if you can find one. Schecter copied the design for their "avenger" model.
i just found/bought a may queen and i love it! i found it on craigslist for $500. its all original with trem, p/u's original white pickguard - everything exactly like the one shown on this vid. question: did the may queen ever have a teisco badge on the headstock? my may queen looks as if it may have had a badge at one point. does anyone have any info on that?
it really is a great guitar - seller wouldnt ship it - i drove from baltimore to cleavland to pick it up :) thanks for any info
Teisco did a a lot of private labeling for other distributors so it's possible you may have a private label MayQueen, though, the only other brand that is rumored to have bought the MayQueen design from Teisco was Kimberley, and there aren't a lot of them around. No other MayQueens have been found with names other than those two to my knowledge.
ease up on the 2 and a half minute blabfest. tell us where the guitar was made, what features it has, and then play the effing thing. listening to you go "uh and um" for 2 minutes before we hear the guitar make me wanna move on to another clip.
I have a Guyatone 170T from 66.Part of me wants to sell it,but the since childhood guitar playing kid in me wants to modify it a little and call her my kid brother.
Just went to an antique guitar show yesterday and saw this same exact one in brown. I tried it out and it sounded pretty good for a 40 year old guitar. I can't figure out one thing, is that a Bigsby trem in the bridge? Or is it the stock Teisco one?
Looks like shit! But you are pretty cool.

It's sad none will ever truly get to enjoy these awesome guitars. I hate collectors.

Next time you get your hands on this guitar, play "Subterranean Homesick Alien" by Radiohead.

Sweet! Like a guitar from an avant garde painting!
It can both cut and sound smooth, which is both nice.
I think those pickups are really bulky looking, which is not wrong either.

@Plasticsoul yeah, I'm used to American guitar body styles...it's just a strange shape to me
bennyvega100 2 years ago
haha "it kind of has that neck-pickup sound... but hollowbody"
well thank you! considering you were playing out of the neck pickup... and it's a hollowbody guitar, I'd say you were right on!
