  • He spends 3/4 of this video saying absolutely nothing and what he did say went no where conducive to understand what he's even talking about!!!

  • Good video.

  • I spent about 4-months in a Mormon stake for research and every Sunday women would get up and share their testimony and everyone of them cried... a lot.

  • If someone sees the truth of their own being, the truth within all faiths becomes clear and steady - all conflict will cease.

  • Reminds me of Glenn Beck

  • I cant believe this guy just used that argument. Thats the same argument Richard Dawkins uses.

  • Almost word for word lol! wow. he is using it as an argument against mormons but it is equally effective against Christianity! lol

  • Effective? Not really, but the point was he was using the argument an anti theist uses on a competing christian religion. It just seems silly that he would use a tactic that im sure he wouldn't want used against him from an anti theist, on another religion.

  • Christ said, by their fruits ye shall know them. By faith (that is, he could not fully see the outcome of his desicions), Abraham made many life-altering changes as directed by God. They all worked out for him, including the ultimate sacrifice. there was a lifetime buildup to the sacrifice. Abraham was was so obedient to every personal command. Most people cannot even feel God's personal commands. It could have begun with an "experiment on the word" of God until he came to KNOW the voice of God.

  • Abraham had a long history of communication with God. Also, he did not jump to this action, he traveled, climbed a mountian, etc. Lots of time to mull it over. Abraham's aversion to this commandment would urge him to make sure it was God's command. Also, Abraham was an old man and Isaac was not a young child at some point he may have gotten Isaac's cooperation, who also would have to be persuaded.

  • I'm asking how did he initially come to know it was God that was speaking to him? I don't think he was mulling it over while he traveled. The journey indicates he'd decided (as had Isaac to go with him).

How do you suppose that God told Abraham to kill his son?

  • I think that God delivered the message to Abraham in the simplest of ways, through His spirit. Those who are closest to God are able to fully understand Him in the most subtle and nuanced of ways. Even among us, it is a gift of any good and intimate relationship really, to understand a world of meaning in a simple nod or a wink precisely as it is intended. "He enlighteneth their eyes and expandeth their understanding"

  • You might be looking for a rational answer, but there are limits to rationalism. Some methods provide more surety than rationalism. Take for example, your and my ability to use language. How did you ever get the notion that a particular sound could symbolize for the first time? With experience talking we all learn how to confirm and reconfirm that we are communicating sufficiently well. There are similar processes communicating through the Spirit of God.

  • Continuing. Those who cannot communicate in the language of the Spirit, cannot understand how those who are communicating with God are sure of His word. An alien watching me type can't know that we learned from each other and we can't prove it to him by typing all day unless he learns to read first. Spiritual things must be spiritually discerned. Your's is a great epistemological question.

  • How did Abraham know it was God that was telling him to sacrifice his son? How did Abraham know for sure he wasn't being deceived?

  • I'm sure if you hear God speak (as He did and when he told Abram to go to Caanan), you won't forgot what God sounds like.

  • It's the initial instance I reference here. And do you think God always communicates via the same medium?
