I think I prefer the smoothie version of the Energy Soup because it seems simpler but that's only because I haven't tried to make the extreme version of Dr. Ann's Energy Soup which of course someday I hope to. Thanks Angela for this recipe.
Question: the heat generated by the spinning blades of the blender destroys the enzymes, does it not? Shouldn't you be using a masticating type juicer instead?
I started drinking energy soup about a week ago. It's actually not bad & it feels good to feed your body so much nutrition. I think it's easier to get it down if you pour it into a cup and drink it vs. eating it with a spoon.
@TarotLadyLissa Depends on your body type, constitution, your currently bodily state (i.e. do you have any issues that would be aggravated by eating cold or non-warm soups?), & your preferences.
I enjoy chilled, raw soups—I'm a "warm" person, so they help to cool me down.
I noticed your name—tarot" Lady Lissa. I'm also intuitive. In that regard you may find raw soups have a different (perhaps less grounding) affect on you than cooked ones. You'd have to experiment and see for yourself
@cellulitelove At first I enjoyed the more "green-tasting" (raw) soups, but then I discovered and started to enjoy making more savory soups with different kinds of spices and a greater variety of vegetables (raw soups are sometimes called blended salads).
The soup Angela made would probably not taste that palatable if you're not used to eating lots of greens.
Currently I enjoy adding tomatoes to my soups, and using fewer spices; tomato really sweetens the soups and gives a rounded flavour.
If I could ask Ann Wigmore anything, it would be: If you can't get organic produce, just stuff from the mainstream supermarkets, would you eat the raw, juiced diet? What things would you absolutely avoid?
ok, you guys should totally have a raw food slumber party and invite a bunch of friends and rent out a big house .. it could a big party! (and don't forget to invite me!)
I'm gonna have to give this recipe a try.. do you blend it up enough so that the soup gets a little warm? thanks!

In cold weather you can use warm water and room temp vegetables! I do, occasionally, anyway.

"Meyer" Lemons is what I believe they are saying. They have smoother skin and are easy to squeeze over you salad or guacamole.

I'd probably still eat it no matter what though :p Unless there was strong evidence suggesting severe health problems associated with it...
