Tell us how the motor gets so hot it melts the foam. You people do reviews but tend to leave out the little things that matter and that may discourage people from buying junk. They charge over 100 US dollars for a piece of 10 cent foam and a 5 dollar motor. People just do not know the value of a dollar and blow it all on China JUNK. Figure they could mold inject some plastic for that price and give a good motor. The battery is the most expensive part of the China Junk they are selling Americans
@racerboom I don't remember, but I would say about 20+ minutes (maybe up to 30) with the 3S/2200mAh LiPo. If you seek a smooth flight with low throttle for filming or photography on about the same level versus speed/up- and downs "fighter mode"
First of, this has been really helpful. I've followed the video almost step by step and got a nearly identical structure, which behaves very well in the air too.
Everyone that sees this mod say how good it looks :)
I don't know if this is a dremel commercial or not. If it isn't they *should* pay you for it :) it demonstrates the tool in one of it's classic uses.
@Artelian1 I quickly checked the DX5e manual and it appears that you can not mix flaperons. But you don't need that actually and you can fly the EasyStar with ailerons only with your radio
@Free07Style Hmm, i have not posted one more time, most be youtube that did it somehow, sorry :)! i did check your info 2 days ago when i wrote that :) Or what did you answer me on now?
@thebeast239 you can fly it with a 150W - 200W setup, but I prefer a 350W+ configuration which delivers approx. 700+g of thrust. A 120g thrust is a challenge, but not impossible. With a smooth piloting it may stay in the air :-) but there is nor spare power to correct errors or extra power to carry cams...
does the motor and esc get hot? mine does and i have an 2835 inrunner with a 40 amp esc. gotta watch how much and how long i have it on 3/4 to full throttle or i'll burn the esc and motor. i've had mine into the clouds. i go up and glide it to cool the esc and motor, then elevate some more. inrunner is powerful. just curious how your plane is doing. cheers
why did you use a brush less inrunner over a brush less outrunner? incidentally, thanks for sharing your know how and your flight was great as well. cheers
Hey Free07Style I can't thank you enough for this video
I'm currently building an easystar and this video answered many of my questions. Now I can go safely with 9g servos instead of Hitec HS-81 since you tested them :)
Can I ask why you're upgrading to a 40A ESC? Hobbyking is suggesting a 25A for this motor. Also what kind of battery charger are you using?
@l0tf1 Thanks for the nice comment - very much appreciated!
Concerning the upgrade: max. Amps are 35A mine pulls up to 32A, I find it saver with the 40A ESC and cooling is less a problem with the 40A ESC (there is no frontal air intake as with the EasyGlider) - for the moment it's still with the FlightTech 25A...
I am using the Turnigy Accucel-6 50W since about 2 years and I am very happy with it for 3S LiPos. I am charging the LiPo's at 2S (4.4A in this case).
I guess the AXN is the easier go, because the rudder doesn't need a modification and it already has ailerons and electronics installed. I like Multiplex durability, but I guess the stability and flying behavior is comparable. The EasyStar will be more stable and less agile compared to the AXN (advantage with camera). The camera weigh I compensate by locating the LiPo back, but it's still nose heavy and I have to pull on the elevator. Also the stall speed is increased, but it's still easy to fly.

Very nice modifications! You say you used a Dremel tool to cut the channels into the EPO foam. Did you use a standard cutting disk or a special tool?

@Free07Style Tank You.
About the video camera. See my last video Sony VS Mini Sd.
I made the video in low light ( almost night ) sow it's not the best whit no light, but in day light the camera make very nice video.
I recommended-it.
Only disadvantage it's a little heavy.

how much power does the motor need to have?. I've modified my EZ star with aleirons and a brushless motor and It just won't lift up!
I've put my motor in a balance and it has 90g power (flowing against the balance)
Then I tried to put another fan and it got 120g power.
How much does it need to be strong enought to lift mine up?
PLS ANSWERRRRR :D

@Free07Style I've been reading some stuff on the internet about batteries, voltages, watts and stuff.
I dont know how many watts does my motor has so I cant have an exact idea for the batteries or the prop
Im using a 1000mah batterie, and for my calcs, It's not enough If my motor is 80watt+. maybe that's the problem
Thanks for the reply :)

@boywaimea yes, it gets fairly hot. But most of the time I fly it slow and steady for filming. Just wanted as much spare power as reasonably possible

boywaimea 1 year ago
@boywaimea because it fits perfectly into the Elapor mount without any modification (same diameter as the brushed motor)
