The first time he did it I didn't attack him at all and we had a good conversation. Good battle, good predictions, well explained thought process. What's up with all this disrespect? I personally get bored of the redundancy of pokes in OU but there's still a lot to think about with team comp, predictions, strat etc. It's because people use the same sets you need to design your teams to check certain threats and make sure you keep those checks alive while still outplaying them, it makes it pretty fun. you can still use GUACA! although only in ubers. I'd say it's somewhat funny how rare most of the former OUs in ubers are, how often do you see thunderus or excadrill in ubers, how often do you see blaziken or garchomp?

This isn't chess. Pokemon are (supposed to be) DYNAMIC. You don't play chess and wonder if their bishop can move in an L shape, or if their Pawn can run up more than 2 squares. They have set roles. Pokemon do not. In 5th OU, a casual observer might mistake them for being static because...

Predictions become mundane when it's always the same one. How many times have you seen someone "predict" a Bullet Punch from a Scizor and go into a Skarm? There is never anything new. If you will sit here and watch a moron predict the same play 19 times, then who's the REAL retard?
Anyone can just use 6 of the top OU's with sets right off Smogon and do the crap you see here. This isn't fucking difficult.
It's true a battle where you switch into skarm 19 times on the predicted bullet punch would be boring, but say my opponent also had a rotom-w. He could double switch that into my skarm. I could even predict that and stay in. He could even predict that and go for the bullet punch anyway, and I could predict that and still go into skarm. It's next level prediction like these that make then game fun and you obviously don't understand. It's fine though, I didn't either when I started playing.
@G0LDUCK You can continue playing scrubs with "original" pokemon, but I prefer high caliber battles with 2nd, 3rd or even 4th level predictions. For me that's what makes the game fun, not everyone being nice to eachother and only bringing stuff their opponent has the intelligence to handle.

Your entire thought process changes because of one set.That's where the metagame peaks.

There are 649 Pokes, not 9, for a reason.

Good battle, good predictions, well explained thought process. What's up with all this disrespect? I personally get bored of the redundancy of pokes in OU but there's still a lot to think about with team comp, predictions, strat etc. It's because people use the same sets you need to design your teams to check certain threats and make sure you keep those checks alive while still outplaying them, it makes it pretty fun. Wow I'm talking WAY too much but tired of seeing shit on you / blaks vids.

In a match like this, it's more how you use your pokemon, and when you make that important play. You don't see chess player complaining that everyone uses the same chess pieces. This isn't chess. Pokemon are (supposed to be) DYNAMIC. You don't play chess and wonder if their bishop can move in an L shape, or if their Pawn can run up more than 2 squares. They have set roles. Pokemon do not. In 5th OU, a casual observer might mistake them for being static because...

Once you find yourself in a battle like this you might understand. Like I said once you reach a certain point, it doesn't matter if you have the top 6 usage. If you can't predict you WILL lose.

Predictions become mundane when it's always the same one. How many times have you seen someone "predict" a Bullet Punch from a Scizor and go into a Skarm? There is never anything new. If you will sit here and watch a moron predict the same play 19 times, then who's the REAL retard?
Anyone can just use 6 of the top OU's with sets right off Smogon and do the crap you see here. This isn't fucking difficult.

It's true a battle where you switch into skarm 19 times on the predicted bullet punch would be boring, but say my opponent also had a rotom-w. He could double switch that into my skarm. I could even predict that and stay in. He could even predict that and go for the bullet punch anyway, and I could predict that and still go into skarm. It's next level prediction like these that make then game fun and you obviously don't understand. It's fine though, I didn't either when I started playing.

@G0LDUCK You can continue playing scrubs with "original" pokemon, but I prefer high caliber battles with 2nd, 3rd or even 4th level predictions. For me that's what makes the game fun, not everyone being nice to eachother and only bringing stuff their opponent has the intelligence to handle.
I know how you feel. I used to think like that when I first started playing. I think it's time you face the facts, suck it up and get good at this game.

The point Im making is you see the same crap in every match. Teambuilding, which is more than half of a battle, has been completely removed from the game. Everyone brings the same stuff. Is prediction exciting? Hell yes. But you can only predict a Rotom or a Ttar switch so many times before it wears off. It's damn boring, and I dont understand how you children can stand to watch.

@CheeseByMyself What goes on in TEAMBUILDING? 5th gen REMOVED teambuilding. Between mundane teams that are ALL THE SAME and the team preview, TEAMBUILDING HAS BECOME IRRELEVANT. This is NOT high level stuff, this is recycled crap that's been overdone for a goddam year now. Look at Shofu's battles from the past while and count how many times he DIDNT use a Ttar. That shows how much brainpower he has in terms of coming up with new teams. And same goes for everyone else in 5th gen OU.

You can be very creative in this metagame it's not that complex "if" you know it. This game isn't about using the worst crap on the list and try to make it good when it isn't, that's not what it's about. It's using team building strategy and knowledge to get the upper hand in battles then backing it up with skill. Just stop.

And even if they are the same pokemon, the first turn will probably be different. It's not the same strategy if your game plan changes because your opponent brought in a uturn celebi instead of the standard Nasty plot one. Your entire thought process changes because of one set.That's where the metagame peaks.

I never said anything about OU. Other tiers can be "high calibre" too. (they may be a bit less competetive because they havn't bee around long enough, but that's besides the point) Complain about someone using OUs in and OU match is just rediculus. Teambuilding also goes a lot deeper then your miniscule understanding of the game might reach.
And saying that gamefreak made 649 is just completely retarded. Remember, it was the same gamefreak that gave a ground type with 32 base speed limber.

Nowadays, people get scoffed at for using an Azelf in OU. Zam isnt even considered anymore. Retarded shit like that further proves that the game forces you to play on Smogons terms if you want to do well.

Playing the same 6 Pokes over and over shows no true skill. It shows familiarity. If you battle the same team over and over, while USING the same team over and over, you learn the ins and outs. In a metagame that has no dynamic structure, it's easy to falsely call that the "competitive edge". Being skilled means knowing how to use a variety of things. There are 649 Pokes, not 9, for a reason.
