In terms of his consistent individual production, kobe's NOWHERE compared to MJ. At best, he's a poor man's 1996-98 version of MJ & those weren't even MJ's PRIME yrs. There isn't 1 facet of the game U can point to, save for 3-pt shooting (and ONLY in the reg season at that), where U can SHOW that kobe's done it more consistently & efficiently, even in a era with relaxed def rules!
He ONLY started to consistently put up "similar" MJ-like #'s AFTER the def rules changed, so what's that tell ya!

12 straight games of 40? MJ avg'd 40ppg for HALF of the season in '87, and shot 51% while doing it! He also avg'd 47ppg in the '88 playoffs & 41ppg in the '93 Finals, and AGAIN, shot 50% while doing it!
A FEW great "games" from kobe or "situational" accomplishments from him, DOES NOT compare to SEASONAL superiority from MJ. His 81 was against a team that ranked 29th (out of 30) in 'D & that 63 ALSO came against a WEAK defensive team.

A) he started off as a leader on a sorry team vs Kobe was on a bench so their stats do not match because they had different beginning.
B) MJ not only played vs worse opposition, but also against smaller guards
and even know D was more physical, overall Defense was complete garbage
no zone defense allowed him to play one on one all day.
plus Mj was NBA Darling so he got all the calls, Kobe is a villan, I mean even now story is Lebron lol

B) In the finals alone the starting 2 guards opposite Kobe are Reggie Miller, Aaron Mckie, Kerry Kittles, Ray Allen, Courtney Lee/Mikeal Pieterus.
Jordans were Byron Scott/Magic Johnson, Clyde Dextler, Dan Marjlie, Hershey Hawkins, and Byron Russell/Hornasek. You pick and choose who the better group of defensive guards are. Jordans numbers in the finals are what makes him and kobe's is what haunt him

@OHHJORDAN Ai and eric snow were the starting guards, magic is not a 2 guard, and michael never came out of high school and kobe was 17 when he came in so if you look at kobes stats when he was jordans rookie year age, kobe averaged 28 and got a ring, 7 years later jordan got his first ring and kobe was sittin on 3, by time jordan finally caught up, a year later while jordans ass was playin baseball, kobe got his 4th and 5th and that brings us to today...

@cbarber24508 Eric snow only started the last game, so your wrong. Kobe was 23 when he averaged 28 points (2001-1978=23). Jordan was 22 his rookie season(1985-1963=22) so your "rookie year age" is wrong. Plus kobe played around 60 games and jordan played 82. And by the way, Jordans next 5 seasons(minus the injury season) he averaged 33.94 points shooting 50 percent while kobe 28.44 points shooting around 45 %. jordan has 6 titles and kobe has 5. Jordan is a better winner and a better scorer

He was never more athletic, Jordan was a better shooter from midrange, Kobe is probably a better 3point shooter, Jordan was a better rebounder and assist man, He was a better defensive player with the steals and blocks, He was a better scorer. And the argument about defence is stupid cause if you honestly believe kobe has faced such better defence then jordan I cant take you seriously man, I really can't.
