I hate this guy & I hate this review. He has some points here and there. I actually own one of these. I think the pro's out-way the cons myself. @minerman007 Better acceleration would have been nice - it's sluggish getting on the freeway. Obviously that was a concern, which is why they came out with the 'Alpha' model that had an engine with more power.
It also comes with the optional get stuck when in mud option. You don't have to pay extra for that one. I had one, nearly like this one but it was the one with the adventure package. He is right about the blind spots, but these things do not have the ground clearance or power needed to really enjoy having a 4X4. H2s I don't have an opinion about, but H3 from experience, are less than adequate for any practical purpose or use one you have them for a while.

@adiblasi I think it was the most realistic video review of the H3 I've found. What you just said was exactly right about them. When I sold mine, my mother bought it; she uses it to go to Wal-Mart. Should've got a 5 speed if you didn't want it to be a slow piece of shit. I've had mine for over 5 years now and had mine special ordered with the 5 speed and now I have over 100,000 miles it still runs great and is quick!

Im not into speedy cars, I like to rule the road with something that can crush a million dollar scrap of fiberglass, and hey yesterday I got pulled over for 60 in a 30. It gets you place to place, but it doesn't race. That ain't the point of military-based vehicles.
I love how strong and tall it feels, and it climbs over everything I throw at it. and it looks real nice. I have to say that I love my h3.
@speedyb5 Hi Speedy. The #1 complaint, for me, was the blind spots -- for real. The incidents I referenced really 'almost happened' due to the blind spots. The driver has to REALLY work those mirrors and be monitoring the space around the vehicle at ALL times. Complaint #2 is that there is 'not that much room' -- engineering more for the 'tank look' than space. And complaint #3, while very capable for off-road, you wish it had more 'go' - which is why they came out with the 'Alpha' engine.

Since when did an SUV need to be fast? I mean..buy a Lightning and put a camper shell on it if you want a fast SUV? Go oldschool and buy a Typhoon? An Xtreme Blazer maybe? I don't think anyone's ever advertised the H3 as doing 0-60 in 4.1 seconds.
It does what it was designed to do well. Offroad.
0-60's rated at 11 seconds, or 8.4 for the Alpha. That's really not that bad. Compare it to an '07 Rubicon at 11.1 second 0-60...It's a low-geared offroad vehicle, not a Porche Cayenne...
I did test drive one of those recently. I agree, it really is a slow piece of shit with some really bad blind spots. This is why I will stick with my 2006 Subaru WRX STi. It is a fast non pos with pretty much minor to no blind spots. :P

the H3 is a heavy vehicle. The 06 model had a 3.5 liter engine, in 07 they put in a larger, more powerful 3.7 liter 5 cylinder that is better suited for the weight of the car.

and wun1gee, I agree with you 100%. The 3.5 and 3.7 are definitely not that fast, but that being said, who the hell cares. You don't buy hummers for speed, so all of you who complain about it can all go to hell. And my H3 with the 3.7 gets better gas mileage than my friends Toyota Land Cruiser, so all you tree huggers can suck on that too. stfu and stop hating.

Since when did an SUV need to be fast? I mean..buy a Lightning and put a camper shell on it if you want a fast SUV? Go oldschool and buy a Typhoon? An Xtreme Blazer maybe? I don't think anyone's ever advertised the H3 as doing 0-60 in 4.1 seconds.
It does what it was designed to do well. Offroad.
0-60's rated at 11 seconds, or 8.4 for the Alpha. That's really not that bad. Compare it to an '07 Rubicon at 11.1 second 0-60...It's a low-geared offroad vehicle, not a Porche Cayenne...

I did test drive one of those recently. I agree, it really is a slow piece of shit with some really bad blind spots. This is why I will stick with my 2006 Subaru WRX STi. It is a fast non pos with pretty much minor to no blind spots. :P

HI RBAC - as I said in the video, the main drawback on the H3 is indeed the BLIND SPOTS - and I am VERY serious about that -- if your 18 & 22 y/o can really WORK THOSE MIRRORS and stay on top of their game, it's a good vehicle, albeit, the 2006 was underpowered with the 5 cylinder.

the H3 is a heavy vehicle. The 06 model had a 3.5 liter engine, in 07 they put in a larger, more powerful 3.7 liter 5 cylinder that is better suited for the weight of the car.
