It's not haram to have birds in cage since a little boy had a bird that died in an authentic Hadith. The prophet didnt mention anything about it's not allowed to have birds. As long as you are taking care of it, feeding it, allow it to fly free etc. So khair insha Allah, just do your job and its OK :)
