I think the difference between Siddharta Gautama and Jesus is the actual blood sacrifice. Jesus took on the sins of the world. It's not really an example to follow. Jesus doesn't expect us to all be crucified to become enlightened. Instead, it's cathartic. He did it for us so that we don't have to take on the suffering that all of us deserve as humans.

I believe he might took on the blame of a crime that someone innocent want sentenced for or something like that. @medepona Because you can only get to heaven through Jesus Christ when you ask him into your heart and you trust and believe in him it changes your life because he came and died on the cross for our sins cuz if he did not love us why would he of done that went through all that pain for nothing but he did it cause he loves us so much that he gave us his Son to die on the cross for our sins

@cheyenne091 *sigh*, that is not a REALLY sufficient explanation to me! What about the sufferings Siddharta Gautama (Buddhism) went through to reach his enlightenment, to become Buddha so to speak, and that he then started to help people change their lives and bring the love and happiness back to them again just through his own good example and love?! Why is that wrong and Jesus the only right thing to believe in?

@medepona I don't think it is "wrong" to believe in another faith. I don't think wrong is the correct word. It might be misguided? I think the difference between Siddharta Gautama and Jesus is the actual blood sacrifice. Jesus took on the sins of the world. It's not really an example to follow. Jesus doesn't expect us to all be crucified to become enlightened. Instead, it's cathartic. He did it for us so that we don't have to take on the suffering that all of us deserve as humans.

@MrsSarb I don't think Jesus sacrificed his life for "the human kind" in the way the Bible says! I believe he might took on the blame of a crime that someone innocent want sentenced for or something like that. He was no God, he was a man, he was a very KIND and enlightened man, and by my perception, anyone who is like I believe Jesus was could have taken the blame away from someone innocent and died in his place! And that is why he was "voted" to be the savior in the church convent of Nicaea!

BUT, I think he was just an ordinary, but still very, very wise man that could have changed the world with his love. He held a deep wisdom, that's why he later was called "divine" after the first church council in Nicaea year 325 after a vote!
But still.. he was not divine! He was just a man, just like I believe Buddha, Mohammed, Moses, (and do not forget Dalai Lama) was/is!

@MrsSarb I have never heard of that before, to be honest! Checked it up now. And I don't like to be "filed" into a special category of faith. I am spiritual, but I can't call me religious in any possible way. I believe in what we use to call "common sense" and that people can be kind from time to time! And I have very hard to believe in any other "God" than the "one" existing our own mind and thoughts. Religion is all about culture and coping strategies to manage the life and give it a meaning!

I read other comments at the same time and got a little eager to clear my point ;-) I am not saying Christianity is wrong, it is just that can be a little reluctant to people who say it is the ONLY right religion and anyone who not think that is an idiot. I say that if it works for you it is the right religion (for you), but that doesn't mean it is the right one for me! We all have to accept our differences and work together as humans to save the planet...

@medepona Honestly I don't know how to respond to that. Part of being a Christian is to share the good news and I do believe it is the "right" religion BUT on the other hand, I have no desire to anger people and/or alienate them. Personally, I just don't believe in shoving it down people's throats. It just doesn't help anyone. I'd rather live by example and hopefully that will lead others rather than going around and telling everyone they should become a Christian.

@uberhi5ve I feel more free now then I ever have in my life. I'm not a religious freak by any means. I just have a simple belief that's all. I've lived a crazy life in the past and I feel lot more freedom now than I did at that time. Now I don't feel a need to be crazy to be happy. That's freedom to me. I understand what you are saying though.

i'm a Christian. and I was istening to a bunch of Mansons interviews, and it is really very interesting, i really dont care for the man, but i think looking at criticisms like his, of our faith, can be useful. Kinda like that saying "Learn from everyone, follow no one." I can learn something, even from someone I dont exactly admire. ANyways.

@50cal98 but if you think about it, when it all comes down to it, clothing is just styled by what people think looks good on them...for instance who's to say that girls are supposed to wear dresses and skirts? ppl usually find cross dressing weird because of the way they were raised...i bet if guys wore what is perceived to be "girly" and for girls the other way around, it wouldnt be seen as weird

@countrysidepride if u think about it, christianity is just as superstitious as anything else. if u've ever drank the blood or have eaten the body of christ, then u've taken part in an enormous superstitious ritual of sacrifice. prayers, chants, holy water, altars, temples, these are all mainstays of MANY belief systems. i think they are all superstitious. there is no belief system that is MORE credible then the next. there is only the popularity contest that we're all involved in.
