The BRUTAL truth: a great song will remain that way as long as competent people cover it. Boz's original can't be beat, this one is super fine, but Fenton is the man and remains so even though RIP. Check out his guitar licks on LMAD and you have heard the blues, amen!
This song gives me the chills every time from beginning to end. I wish it was about twelve hours long. Incredibly, Boz's voice is better now than in the seventies. Must go see at the Chunash Casino tomorrow nite !
As much as I think that "We're All Alone" is the best ballad ever written by man, I love it when Boz sings the blues. No nonsense, no caterwauling, no drama - just a soulful voice squeezed dry of self-pity, presenting the facts. Despite the fact that Duane Allman is no longer among us, I like this version better than the studio version because Boz has grown into his voice.
Meowza, Holy Schnikes, Swizzle me Stick, man O man, this BOZ be one fine Man!!! Loved to sway to his music in the 70's, love particularly to get lost in this sublime piece over and over and over and over again. Last time I heard it was at the Red Robinson Theatre in Coq.years ago...I danced in front of the stage for it's entirety. How can one NOT be moved by his power! Bless you Boz, bless you and yours.
met boz in aspen, back in the '70's one of the nice's guy in the music bus....met him again a few years later in L.A.just the same! what a talent.....was my pleasure BOZ...........BLEU LARUE!
@ricsto.... His name is William Royce Scaggs. He called "Boz" because Steve Miller gave him the nick name "Bosley" when they were in school in Texas and eventually it was shortened to Boz. And quite frankly, the name is perfect for him! It is unique and different, like the man himself!
@MrTonequest....maybe this song wouldn't get Boz into the Hall of Fame but, surely even you would agree that this man deserves to be inducted. Boz Scaggs is one of the most talented and prolific artists around today! Plus the fact that he has been doing this for over 40 years!!! I for one, absolutely adore Boz. His music is sheer genius and to compare him to anyone else is ludicrous to say the least. William Royce is one if a kind. We are blessed ! Thanks for sharing this video and thank you,
Great version of a great song. Boz holds his own on guitar.
I don't get why the two keyboardists have to sit back against back. The dark haired guy who could be the same who played with a recent incarnation of Foreigner (Michael Bluestein?) keeps looking over his shoulder. It is as distracting to watch as it must have been for him to play. Poorly thought out element for a stage show let alone a DVD when every detail is typically mapped in advance. Who cares? I will still buy this DVD.
Boz attracts talent like honey attracts bees. Chilling track from an ace DVD. Sound good here but multi-channel audio on CD reveals stunning detail missing here. Drew Zing is top-drawer guitarist, which is why the Dan hired him, Jim Cox's organ playing is gorgeous and John Ferraro's feel is spot on, that's why Larry Carlton hired him during his prime. The whole band are top class, if you haven't checked out Boz, be sure to listen to Silk Degrees, Middle Man, Dig and Some Change. Wonderful.
Saw him tonight in Puyallup Wa , county fair, he didn't play this one but at 67 years old he was still able to belt out the old ones! Same lead guitarist too.
@vitalsfading I was born in 89, wasn't even alive at that time. If the song was written today it would be called 'loan me 50 bucks for my cell phone bill that was due yesterday'
One of my favorite songs and favorite musicians. Good memories... Thanks for posting. If anyone has a live version when Duane Allman played with Boz, please post it.
a great song ... beautifully done by boz and band ... it always takes me back to those brief bright halcyon days when duane was actually among us ... boz is no slouch either ... he really captures the essence of this song with his guitar playing ... wail on, skydog ...
Who else has songs like this. I want to put about 10 songs together. For a "special" mix

It's too bad Duane Allman isn't with him on stage. I'm sure in spirit he's there but, just imagine what he'd be doin' today. What a performance!!!

This song alone should've gotten Boz into the Rock & Roll HOF.
bonn777 4 months ago 16
@bonn777 Not sure why this would get him into the HOF. It's just a decent cover of a great song written by FENTON ROBINSON.
