videos like this are very inspiring and at the same time discouraging because it reminds me how long its going to take me before i'm anywhere near as good as this.
Us that the "Renaissance Easel"? If so, how in the world is he'd keeping such thin drawing board from bouncing left to right on his every pencil stroke? I see he did not even clamp it on the top. I hate how my board just does not stay solid on this or any H frame easel for that matter. They all seem designed for brush work on canvas. Then pastel artist like myself get stuck using the left hand to hold the drawing boards from moving around. If any one knows a trick that I don't, please reply.
...but I hate the technique of sketching out the shadows. I'm like "ok now it looks like the model has a skin disease. Now how the hell am I gonna blend this in?"
@soyhan15 Doing figure drawings of your own sex isn't gay. There are advantages from learning about both the male and female bone structure and musculature.
@evosamwitch1340 - well, don't want to make you jealous but I just found a Drawing course in my area and guess who's teaching it? That's right.. the same dude in this video. I am thrilled. I had no idea he in my area.
i am only just beginning to study anatomy but i have been drawing for years..rob you are very very accurate with your visual representations, they are great. i recently put up my second time lapse video and would appreciate any feedback or opinions from people interested in drawing, so please stop by. thanks
Some of the finest drawing I have seen in many year. I am a Graduate in Drawing from London and now I feel I should have studied under you. Please take my regards
. You have inspired me to get back to my life drawing. Thankyou. very Grateful.
@juhikulkarni Then you haven't seen good drawing. This is mediocre, The lining is not definitive enough, the color saturation is weak, the perspective is imprecise, and the shading is inconsistent.
@DoctorLawyerWhatever You are pathetic... do you copy and paste the same stupid criticizms onto several art based videos to try and degrade people? I'm pretty sure your exact phrase, "The lining is not definitive enough, the color saturation is weak, the perspective is imprecise, and the shading is inconsistent" was used to describe my drawings too. Bearing in mind I was 15 at the time and still a kid. Would be interesting to see some of your "work"...... douchebag. This work is amazing.
@Louisa911 You seem confused. Degrading someone is saying something negative which has no basis; stating facts which apply to any particular endeavor is a legitimate evaluation. If what I write applies to both of you, then that simply means that my evaluation is accurate in regard to both of you. I trust that this will explain things to you in a way which you are capable of understanding. By the way, only ignorant fools resort to name-calling; it is beneath intellligent individuals.
@DoctorLawyerWhatever Confused? Who do you think you are? So clever you have to post the exact same criticizms to everyone... imaginative! You make out you're some super intelligent, all-knowing art master... but you are BORING. I bet you can't even hold a pencil. Why not post up some of your own work so we can all see how you are "supposed" to create artwork. Prude. Hell you don't even sound like a real person. I feel sorry for the people who have to listen to your opinions in real life.
@DoctorLawyerWhatever Intelligent only has two L's but thanks for playing. The artist above has been recognized by, and received awards from, a number of many respected organizations. He graciously offers his wealth of knowledge to the masses at a fraction of the cost to attend a traditional fine arts program. It's fine if you don't particularly like it, but please don't make criticisms of that which you clearly aren't qualified.
@nCorelli Alright, I'll bother with you for two minutes. Actually, "Intelligent" (in this specific case, as it is a reference to a word, not actually the use of the word in context, it should be in quotation marks) has no Ls (no apostrophe required, as you had written, as it is not possessive) in it, although it does have two lower-case Ls in it. "a number of many" should either be written "a number of" or "many." YouTube is free to view; It is not "a fraction" of the cost, but, no cost.
@DoctorLawyerWhatever I Couldn't be happier with your replies. Not because the content was a worthy of reading, but because it's clear that my pointing out of your hypocrisy really bothers you. I'm going to ignore your feeble argument of semantics and reveal to you that Mr. Liberace offers many paid forms of training through his website.
@nCorelli Continuing briefly; it is not a matter of what I like or don't like; I am neutral. It is simply a matter of evaluation of content. As you are wholly ignorant of anything about me, with the exception of being aware that I am far more articulate than yourself, you have nothing upon which to base any determination of my qualifications regarding anything. I trust that this correction will be of assistance in resolving your confusion.
@DoctorLawyerWhatever I do know a little something about you actually. I know that you're an internet troll. Anyone one who wastes this much time trolling is certainly not the artist they claim to be in so many of their little rants. If you were, you would post a link or video of your own work.
More articulate? A turd is still a turd, no matter how long you polish it.

@kikine05 "All real artists draw like that" is a very questionable statement. No offence, but I think it's actually preposterous. Different artists have different styles and priorities. Van Gogh and Paul Klee, for instance, were great artists though not interested in drawing in a classical style. There's no right or wrong in art, only good or bad. This guy is very good...
@bordereye oh well I never said this guy was bad hum did I?? :D do not say what I didn't say. Van Gogh and Paul Klee are known for their particular styles... like Picasso which before drawing a cubic portrait used to make a realistic one to deform it later :D
So yes all or all most all the artists draw like that, they just adopt a style which often is related to technics or particular tools. Do you know Miro? he's an exception.
@kikine05 I only said I think he's good... Anyway, most artists in the last two hundred years have not been drawing in a classical style, and many techniques used by the old masters are unknown to modern artists. That's why I said it's not true that all real artists draw like that. In particular I did't agree with your laughing at the other user. Is it clear now? :-)
This really can be compered with great masters. I'm stunned!
Also, i think there are just few people who can do this today. Find them on YouTube! Well you won't. I tried, but none of them is even close to this man.
And just wanna say this- all those stories about feeling art, making 'true' art, as we say ''falls in water'', when you see what this man can do! simple question - Do you really think he can't paint/draw modern and abstract art? :) silly to talk about that.... :)
@kikine05 No not all artist draw like that , for example most of the old masters have their own ways of the drawing. Whats coming from the years of incredible amount of experince, practice and searching yourself.
Most these modern drawing courses ends with the result that person draw same as their teacher.
i have always been wanted to paint since i was 16.. i came from a poor family and i cannot afford to buy all the materials that i need .. i can't even go to school .. i wanted to have a copy of this dvd but i can't afford it .. it's too expensive .. i only have a single pencil and bond papers where i draw
@ChadSmith1452 practice, the more you do it the faster you become, its just about the same with everything. Think of it like a kid learning to write they can't write a complete sentence very fast, but after years of practice that same little kid can crank out Hundreds of them without thinking about it.
Thank you Robert! Inspiring! Great material for studies of artistic anatomy with many tips on how you can learn and practice your anatomical studies.
Thank you, buttonlane, for your amazing comments. Sorry we took out the last sentence with several other artists' names so we don't upset several of Rob's peers. Here's your comment (otherwise unaltered). Thanks for understanding.
"Excellent artist, excellent teacher...you blend the two so well... so rare among DVD's that are being released today..."
Have a question though, is this just an explanation of the muscles in this specific position or is this a full course on how to best learn anatomy to get the same amount of knowledge that Mr Liberace has?
Rob goes over each muscle (and tendon) as he draws it --- where it begins and ends, what it does, and how it relates to what's around it. Also, he includes lots of diagrams which further clarify what he's talking about. This is a two+ hour dvd with a whole lot of information packed in, but you'll have to study anatomy further (Rob gives you suggestions on how to proceed) to "get the same amount of knowledge" that he's acquired over the years. Hope that helps! LL
