Thank you, I just felt that this discussion got to far away from what truly happened. A young vibrant woman was murdered for no reason and thats all is what needs to be discussed I feel. Just a very sad story to see that had to happen to her.

She was not scaling a mountain, she was not confronting her personal fears, she was trykng to enjoy a lovely hike in nature with her dog which she has every right to do so. i was trying to help people watch out when hiking thats all. it was not fair to her friends and family to take risks like that. people like gary hilton enjoy killing and dismembering people he is a serial killer. if people take risks it encourages people like him and they say wow state parks are full of people unarmed by themselves thus victems hikers scale huge dangerous mountains then our tax dollars have to bail them out. that tax money could help old people without food or heat.

One thing to note is that hundreds of people in this area can easily look like "trashy bums," as many thru hikers from the Appalachian trail come through the North Georgia parks. They hike for months and they look very rough after a while. Hilton would have passed as a thru hiker in this park. Thousands of hikers enjoy North Georgia parks and they are very friendly with one another. This could have happened to anyone that day, but Meredith was at the wrong place at the wrong time.

You wouldn't like an insensitive jerk saying that the attack was entirely your fault and that tax dollars shouldn't have gone into your investigation. I suppose that the North Carolina couple that got murdered during a day hike by Hilton were also at fault in your mind. As a female Atlanta resident, it hits home as I've camped and hiked in Georgia State Parks with friends on numerous occasions. The poor girl...what a damn shame. I hope that the evil SOB gets the same fate as Dahmer in prison. I can't even fathom what the poor family has to go through. The boyfriend Steve was on a local radio station (Q100) and his heartfelt and uninterrupted discussion about his wonderful girlfriend was heartwrenching to hear. God bless Meredith's family and friends.

This is such a tragedy. As a hiker the woods are my sanctuary, a place to reflect, and give thanks to the great creator. It is a shame that we have such pure evil in the world. My condolences to Meredith's family and friends.
