read this.once u started there is no turni back. a little 10 year old girl was raped and murdured in 1945. her body was not found untill 1947.then a boy last week read this and did not copy and paste this message. the dead girl appeared in his room haunting him and killed him. if ou do not copy and paste this onto 10 videos in 30 minutes the dead girl will appear in your room tonight and haunt you and kill you. well you better start to copy and paste if you want to be safe
I just got one. Great deal. I feel it is a little bass heavy, though. Got any ideas on how to brighten it up. I'm looking that sweet spot between classic rock/blues tones. Thanx.
lol. Funny, me too. I read someone's review that said the Crate 1-12 and 2-12 are identical in every way, except for the extra 12. He said because of this, the cabinet resonates more bass. ??? Could be true. I don't know. I'm getting kind of used to it, though. I like that one guy on YouTube who made it into a head and runs a half stack. I'll probably just run some pedals. I'm scared I'm going to get OCD on it. I don't want to become a "mod" guy and spend $1000 on a $150 amp.
Thanx. I think that's what I'll end up doing, also. BTW, that is killer what you did with the whole head thing. You should post that more in depth. That's one mod I wouldn't mind doing.
speaking of "fake tube" sounding tube amps I had a similar experiance with the Johnson Marquis 60 combo I have. I ended up JJ tubing it and holy smokes that change made it sound wonderful and real. It will be an interesting thing to see what tubes the crate comes with and if it merits tubing it with Euro, Solvtec, Ruby's or some other hot rod tubes. but at 150$ one can't argue too much!
Does the Crate V18 have a solid state chip in the preamp like the V8 does? I decided to get a Crate Palomino V8 after hearing rave reviews on internet forums, but I eventually ditched it in favor of the more natural tube sound (at least to my ears) of the Epiphone Valve Junior. The V8 isn't too bad till you crank the gain past 12 o'clock, then you can really hear that unwanted buzzy solid state distortion.
This is definitely a great deal. I was going to get this but I got a Valveking instead though. Also, there's the "Starcaster" by Fender pedals that are on sale for $12. Maybe you could review those too?

I fixed the bass problem on my V-18 with a EQ pedal. It sounds great now.

I would throw in some new tubes. and some speakers that have tight bottoms and sly mids and bright highs. and that should hopefully do the trick.

Thanx. I hear some people like the "Warehouse Guitar Speakers" (WGS). I might give some "Veteran 30's" a try.

accourding to the owners manual, which I downloaded (PDF), It looks like there's 3 preamp tubes also. 5 Tubes in a $150 amp? Could that be ?? :-) ??
When I get my hands on it, I'll share w/ all.
