huh "Does Being a POW Give You Presidential Experience" how stupid are you people to comment if you have been a POW it just shows you how shit you are to be caught in the first place
If you say to John McCain "wow, it looks like it's going to rain the next couple days, what do you think?" he would respond "I was a POW, I didn't see the rain for several years..." now lol, he uses this a lot he's asked a question and he will go back to his POW record, did it during the RNC, he did it when he was asked how many houses does he own. Just because he was a POW doesn't mean he gets a free pass at the hard questions or have it justify his positions on given topics, OBAMA/BIDEN '08
This comment has received too many negative votesshow
Clark makes no points...he's one of those Clinton appointed Generals who, in the '80s, had nothing but praise for Ronald Reagan...He's sheeping looking in appearance and in speech...in fact, an awful speech-giver.
and enough with the torture positions..what a load of ****.
They have to be absolutely in side-splitting laughter in the caves of Afghanistan...when listening to these leftist imbeciles proclaiming, "if we're good to their POWs, they'll be good to ours." IMBECILES!
If McCain was that good how come nobody gave him a job in their administrations? The guy was taking orders for God sake he was not a general. Please Somebody remind him!!
The POWs gave McCain special treatment when he became a song bird. It is well known about the POWs, who by the way, do not support McCain. The POWs are a tight knit family, and when the group looks at another as a black sheep there is always a reason. When was the last time you saw someone wearing a POW hat at a McCain speech?
If being a POW in a foreign war qualifies a person for president; How about a POW in a domestic war concerning the rights of US citizens?
Many US citizens try to defend OUR country from the more difficult enemy to fight. You think fighting terrorists is tough, try going up against less than honorable people in government positions who "think" they have much more power and authority than We the People granted them.
The Center for Responsive Politics finds that McCain has accepted over $1 million from the oil and gas industry. Many of McCain's top advisers have lobbied for big oil, which is why he now acts in their best interests, opposing environmental legislation and alternative energy plans. And that's exactly why we want everyone to know The REAL McCain.
McCain is desperate to distance himself from President Bush. But according to the Center for American Progress Action Fund,
Back in 1972, while stationed at Fort Bragg,I volunteered my off duty time to a small POW/MIA group(Americans Who Care)which helped Joe McCain when he traveled through North Carolina seeking to raise public awareness about his brother POW John McCain.
Yet, McCain categorizes me as "one of the most despicable people"he "ever had the misfortune to encounter?"What does that say about his relationship with the Vietnamese prison guards whom he claims brutally tortured him daily?
McCain crashed his aircraft more than once before he was shot down in VN. He was nothing more that a hotdog. He graduated 894th out 898/899. He was intellectually lazy then and is now. Character? How about his infidelities? Flip-flopping as he's done since 2000?
McBush is a "slime-ball"! That's what he is. A captured bomber pilot as President? That would be as bad as a draft-dodging-cheerleader from Yale as President. Oh yeah, the draft-dodging-cheerleader was President. Way to go America!
what a lying dumbass kerry did no such thing he jumped off the boat and chased a guy with an rpg that he already fired the guy was already wounded and basicly no threat at all and kerry shot him in the back with an m16.
Do they think being a POW in Vietnam was a holiday? McCain received 'special treatment' in Vietnam for always confronting the camp authorities and refusing their offer of an early release - he spent more years in that squalid camp as a result. These guys talk thru their asses,
McCain has proven he has both. Obama has neither. Obama has only 2 years in the Senate and voluntarily chose to be a 20 year solid member of a church with an America-insulting, white-race condemning leader. Comparing experience AND character between the 2 candidates there's NO contest......except Obama is the media's darling.
Qualifications in an area of expertise requires experience in that area of expertise. That poor girl from Austria that was imprisoned by her dad and raped constantly having 4 children qualified now to be the leader of Austria? Was McCain studying Macro Economics all those years?
This is a serious job. You need the right kind of experience and the right kind of judgement and quite frankly the right kind of temperament - McCain is a known Hot-Head and he's got his own special keys to the NUKES!
Great scare tactic. Run for your lives...He's got the key to the nukes!!
Yeah, like he'll wake up in the middle of the night on his way to get a sandwich and flip the switch. Same checks and balances for BOTH candidates. Nice try. And if you're talking about needing experience you CANNOT POSSIBLY support Obama. Could YOU get a high level CEO job with barely 2 years experience? And HE wants to run the country during war and a bad economy? Oh, that's right, he talks well. That should be enough.
You're right a person with a war agenda made the commander and chief can't possibly influence the military. Are you on drugs?
Experience. First, Most presidents were not senators. Second, age is not experience. Bill gates was young. The boys from Google were young. No one person runs the government. He'll be there, Just like McCain, with 100 special consultants and experts. But the Republican experts have proven themselves completely incompetent.
Many CEO'S never even went to college, or dropped out. Besides, being a CEO and being President are two COMPLETELY different things. One heads up a company with its own specialiaed interests, and can generally ignore most problems. The president has make decisions that effect EVERY CITIZEN of the ENTIRE COUNTRY, and at least attempt to keep his finger on the pulse of things involving National Security, upholding and enforcing the Constitution and bill of rights...etc.
Obama has more than 2 years...he has 12 years of government experience comprised of both Federal and State. That's more than Ronald Reagan, more than Jimmy Carter, more than G.W. Bush...just as much experience as Nixon, and JFK...and only 2 years less experience than FDR and Clinton. Many of these former Presidents had absolutely NO Federal experience before being elected. So experience is a non-issue when referring to Obama. :)
Find me a college dropout CEO who "ignores most problems" and I'll show you a bankrupt company. You're probably referring to Bill Gates and he's the the anomaly, not the norm.
And if Obama has 12 years of governmental experience than why can no supporter list any solid accomplishments? 144 working days in the senate is all he has and half of that was positioning himself to be President.
It's not a question of 'if'... he HAS 12 years experience...historical fact. Read a book, google it, look him up on wikipedia. It's there, clear as crytstal. Of course when you ignore the facts, you're free to make up your own...saying "no supporter can find list of any solid accomplishments". There are many.
Obama was elected to the Illinois Senate in 1996. Obama gained bipartisan support for legislation reforming ethics and health care laws. He sponsored a law increasing tax credits for low-income workers, negotiated welfare reform, and promoted increased subsidies for childcare.
In 2001, as co-chairman of the bipartisan Joint Committee on Administrative Rules, Obama supported Republican Governor Ryan's payday loan regulations and predatory mortgage lending regulations aimed at averting home foreclosures. In 2003, Obama sponsored and led unanimous, bipartisan passage of legislation to monitor racial profiling by requiring police to record the race of drivers they detained and legislation making Illinois the first state to mandate videotaping of homicide interrogations.
He voted against requiring medical care for aborted fetuses who survive. Opposed letting people use a self-defense argument if charged with violating local handgun bans by using guns in their homes. Voted against making gang members eligible for the death penalty if they kill someone to help their gang. Voted against tax credits to parents who send their children to private school. Wants universal health care which would break the backs of ALL taxpayers while quality goes down the toilet.
Also says he trusts women to make own decisions on partial-birth abortion. You know, that's the procedure where the doctor shoves a metal spike into the skull to demolish the brains before the baby's head comes out. He also wants to close Guantanamo and put terrorists in civilian courts and give them Habeus Corpus (never done in the history of the U.S.). Voted to continue to send Federal funds to documented "sanctuary cities" where illegal aliens flourish. I've got plenty of his "stats" also.
You've got a gift for spin and bullshit, I'll give you that. Too bad it's all meaningless, Maybe you should actually read up on those policies instead of just taking what you want. You're obviously a right wing, Neo-con pro-lifer...go bomb a clinic somewhere nut case. I won't vote for McCain...who has no real foreign policy plan, except to keep the current one in place, and put billions of dollars in tax cuts into the pockets of wealthy corporations and Saudi Oil Firms.
And because I don't agree with ending a baby's life in the womb at 8 or 9 months suddenly makes me a "nut case neo-con pro-lifer who wants to bomb clinics"? Based on your own ignorant comment I can then call you a "violent baby killer who supports the murder of children"? See how dumb that sounds? I'm not the biggest fan of McCain either but you think I am because I criticize Obama. Nice job on being objective. I refuse to have blinders on because me and a candidate have the same color skin.
You obviously have no idea what you're talking about when it comes to anything. Get some real information on the issues, and maybe we can have a real discussion, Good-day.
I guess the only "real information" is information YOU want that supports only YOUR candidate. All you Obama supporters end debates the same way when given facts you don't like: "You don't know nuthin' 'bout nuthin' so I'm done talkin' until you agree with me! Don't you dare talk bad 'bout my 'Bama!"
He's a POLITICIAN!! Not the next coming of Christ! Stop the blind worshipping already!
You can't have a abortion at 8 or 9 months...period...you idiot. 16-20 weeks (about 3-4 months) into a pregnancy is the maximum. Anything beyond that is considered a viable pregnancy, and you are beyond the point of choosing abortion. Get your facts straight and stop loading your comments with bullshit. Women apparently should have no rights in your America.
4 months is "BEYOND the point of CHOOSING an abortion"? Are you for real? You are indeed a Liberal. Over 1,000 women last year had medically induced "late terms" at 28-30 weeks. And they weren't all for medical reasons. Historical stats show it. Before throwing out such witty slams like "idiot" make sure you look beyond the user-edited Wikipedia where you copied your earlier Obama stats and where everyone under 25 gets their "information".
So you think that an unborn baby, which is still part of the mother, has more rights than the breathing, thinking, living-on-her-own-accord woman herself? Personally i am against late term abortions, but its not my place to judge, or feel the need to force my beliefs upon others who's circumstances are unknown to me. The right to choose is a constitutional amendment. If you want to have your child, i'm fucking happy for ya, have the baby, if you want an abortion, you have the right..i wont judge
no, being a POW doesnt qualify you to be president, but then again, neither does giving a half decent speech, writing a book, or vague rhetoric about hope and change.
If Cenk Uygur had half as much talent as he had chins, he would be taking Tim Russert's spot.
You want to focus on one stupid moment that was OBVIOUSLY a mis-statement? Someone who was the president of the Harvard Law Review, and who EARNED that position unlike most politicians who get special favors through family and business connections is pretty damn smart. Besides which, McCain has made an embarrassing number of blunders on this campaign, especially on his supposed strength which is Iraq (he doesn't know the difference between Shiite and Sunni, etc.
The Republicans told lies about McCain when he ran against Bush. They did not respect his service then. The Democrats have not said anything that insulting. McCain did not excel at Annapolis perhaps this is why he was passed up for promotions. I doubt he was discriminated by the military. It seems he has been well rewarded for his service. Everybody talks about supporting troops but there is a poorly funded VA and our wounded and disabled Vets are being neglected. Put up or shut up.
There's a question that everyone pretends not to even think of: Can being held prisoner of war possibly cause mental problems? -- emotional or anger problems perhaps, or problems thinking impartially and rationally about matters of war and peace?
But you have to admit that BOTH candidates are relying on personal history to count for quie a lot. Both believe their biography is the best indicator of judgement and leadership. I think Obama comes out on top, and I think it's fair to question how much weight should be given to each, including the POW experience, without totally dismissing McCain's claim either.
The Democrats voted heavily for Ted Kennedy during the 1980 primary, and he was expelled from Harvard for paying someone(contractor) to take his Spanish test.
BTW, Bill Clinton was also a Rhodes Scholar, and he was impeached.
Sorry, whenever I see a reference to Oxford, I naturally think on the impeached, draft-dodging, philandering ex-president, Bill Clinton. The two are forever linked in my mind.
McCain was at the Plantation not the Hanoi Hilton. He was given special treatment and gave information to the enemy beyond name rank and serial number. He made 32 film clips claiming the US military were targeting temples hospitals and schools!
Reporting by CNN in Jakarta, Indonesia and Washington, D.C., shows the allegations that Obama attended a madrassa to be false. ... "It's not (an) Islamic school. It's general," Winadijanto said. "There is a lot of Christians, Buddhists, also Confucian. ... So that's a mixed school."
I hope the lib 527's are stupid enough to roll out these smears on a genuine American hero like John McCain. I'd love to see it backfire, just like the moron-dot-org Petraeus ad.
Clark failed miserably in his bid for the Democrat nomination last cycle. And unlike Republicans, Democrats throw their defeated politicians under the bus for the next new thing. Clark is history to your party, just like Gore, Kerry, Hillary ect. When Obama loses, and he will, the Democrats will view him as a political pariah as well.
Yet they're damaged goods as legitimate candidates for future runs at the Democrat Party nomination for president. Democrats are always looking for the new Messiah, as is the case with Obama. You can't be the Democrat Messiah after an emotional, humiliating loss. It brings up too many bad memories.
History has shown that while many generals were good at their jobs in the military, some our best were a bit unhinged.
The "Mad Bomber of Kosovo" was also a Clinton operative. Dropping Hillary in order to advise Obama also makes him an opportunist, worse than Governor Bill Richardson(D-NM).
And George Bush, you forgot to mention George Bush. And Dick Cheney. And Donald Rumsfeld. And Ronald Reagan. And Trent Lott. And Big Joooohhhhnnn Cornyn. And Giuliani. And Fred Thompson. And Mitt Romney. And Dennis Hastert. And Dick Armey. And George Allen. And Jeb Bush. And Karl Rove. And Newt Gingrich. And Rick Santorum. And Bill Frist. I'm sure, because you're such an honest man, that you simply forgot, in your patriotic fervor, to name those particular rats.
How come Obama didn't serve in the military? He didn't serve, yet he wants to invade Pakistan? According to the liberal definition, I guess Obama qualifies as a "chickenhawk."
The difference is I, since I'm so much smarter (and more elite) than you, I don't actually think military service matters to be a good president. And, as recent elections have shown, the American people don't either. I was just pointing out your lack of integrity, not any actual fault in any politician.
You're right, Democrats only use military veterans when the political climate deems it advantageous for them. Even then, as with the '06 mid-terms, they could barely hold their nose long enough to vote a couple into office, only a fraction of those who ran as Democrats.
your a complete idiot..... Obama said if the pakistan government doesnt take out terrorist targets in the NE mountains obama would do it for them.... You know thats where the terrorists actually are right? not so much in iraq.... the real threat is in the afghan/pakistan mountains... You make it sound like he wanted to attack pakistan, as in their people or military... there is strong intelligence that says the threat in that area is too big too ignore
Guys, guys, guys, its a joke. The incident Ratsagainstpats was referring to with Clark bombing the Chinese embassy in Belgrade was when one of Clark's subordinates wanted it bombed over the objection of our French allies, either because the embassy was being used as a support center for the Serbs or as a mistake. I was just poking fun at a man who obviously, by his ridiculous name, hates France and everything about it.
I have no issues with France now that they have adopted a center-right outlook on the world. Sarkozy is a good man. Let's hope he keeps his beautiful wife out of the cross-hairs of ex-president, Bill Clinton.
I wont hold McCains complicity with the VC against him, sence it was under torture. No confession or statement under torture should be considered valid.
I wonder though..how a guy that graduates at the bottom of his class at the Naval acadamey gets a coveted spot in Navy flight school? That can only happen with string pulling.
My write in vote for Ron Paul only helps Obama, lets hope he is less evil.
I'm an Obama supporter. Saw Ron Paul on Morning Joe recently...seems like a good guy. Can't comment on his policies since its hard enough keeping track of the ones still in the race, but he seems to be a very reasonable guy.
Deltapunk21, you going to back any of that BS up or are you full of shit. Because Clark is a married general who just bitch slapped your retarded silver spoon candidate up side the head. BTW, unless your elected your appointed, It is how our government works.
Clark is a war criminal he ran the Kosovo war for bill clinton a war not authorized by Congress or the UN bombing a country that was not a threat to the USA in any way shape or form. Thats a crime.
That's what I've been tryin to tell everyone. There's a huge difference between being a brave POW and being a hero. Now if McSame had invaded an military base and got caught trying to free some POWs or something like that then you might consider him a hero.
But McSame was just a douchebag who fucked up and got caught. How does that make him a hero? All of us have fucked up and gotten caught over something...does that make us heroes?
Clark was a Rhodes Scholar who recieved a masters in military science from OXFORD!! Before that, he was valedictorian of his class in West Point Academy!! He is a smart cookie, LOL!! That's a man who could help our President lead this nation to GREATNESS!!
Why do Americans salivate over the military service of their presidents. Is that the kind of country you want? A country who thinks a military man is the best type of leader for their country. How about a scholar or someone highly educated in foreign and domestic affairs. How about the smartest person for president? How about someone who actually knows something?
CousinoMacul. I liked Clark in 2004 also. But I think a few more years helped him focus his speaking style from more academic to good political speaking. I really like Obama/Clark 08.

We've more than given a chance to the intellectually challenged in Bush and see where that got the US, even the world at large.
McCain finished bottom 1% at the academy, that's even worse than Bush's C average at the schools poppa got him into.
Let's go with some brains next time.

"Let's go with some brains next time."
Like the guy who thinks there are 57 states?
nickd4818 3 years ago
You want to focus on one stupid moment that was OBVIOUSLY a mis-statement? Someone who was the president of the Harvard Law Review, and who EARNED that position unlike most politicians who get special favors through family and business connections is pretty damn smart. Besides which, McCain has made an embarrassing number of blunders on this campaign, especially on his supposed strength which is Iraq (he doesn't know the difference between Shiite and Sunni, etc.

and how many articles did he write? zero
gismotech 3 years ago
That's the dumbest thing ive ever heard.
So because he was captured as a POW decades ago, that very act made him intelligent enough to make decisions on education and health care?
McCain is a warmonger, he learned nothing from war.
treysparker 3 years ago
The Republicans told lies about McCain when he ran against Bush. They did not respect his service then. The Democrats have not said anything that insulting. McCain did not excel at Annapolis perhaps this is why he was passed up for promotions. I doubt he was discriminated by the military. It seems he has been well rewarded for his service. Everybody talks about supporting troops but there is a poorly funded VA and our wounded and disabled Vets are being neglected. Put up or shut up.

There is one government with two faces..to keep us divided.
McCain is just another puppet as all have been in the past.
Experience doesn't matter...it's whatever can sell the party...we are fooled anyway in believeing we have a choice.

Wes Clark almost started a nuclear war with his bombing of Chinese Embassy in Belgrade, the war criminal.
patsagainstrats 3 years ago
Wes Clark is a RHODES SCHOLAR who graduated from OXFORD whereas McCain is a BOTTOM FIFTH GRADUATE of Naval Academy.
I think most people know which of them is the BETTER SOLDIER.
laleeloolelo 3 years ago
Not bottom fifth , he was in the bottom five
televin 3 years ago
The Democrats voted heavily for Ted Kennedy during the 1980 primary, and he was expelled from Harvard for paying someone(contractor) to take his Spanish test.
BTW, Bill Clinton was also a Rhodes Scholar, and he was impeached.
patsagainstrats 3 years ago
What do those have to do with the fact that Gen. Clark IS AN OXFORD GRADUATE whereas McCain is a BOTTOM FIVE/FIFTH GRADUATE from Naval Academy?
laleeloolelo 3 years ago
While McCain was at the Hanoi Hilton, Bill Clinton was at Oxford huntin' hole and pretending not to inhale.
patsagainstrats 3 years ago
Hey I thought it was GENERAL WESLEY CLARK we're talking about not Clinton.
laleeloolelo 3 years ago
Sorry, whenever I see a reference to Oxford, I naturally think on the impeached, draft-dodging, philandering ex-president, Bill Clinton. The two are forever linked in my mind.
patsagainstrats 3 years ago
"While McCain was at the Hanoi Hilton, Bill Clinton was at Oxford huntin' hole and pretending not to inhale."
That one came out of left field. What's your point?
Muaguana 3 years ago
McCain was at the Plantation not the Hanoi Hilton. He was given special treatment and gave information to the enemy beyond name rank and serial number. He made 32 film clips claiming the US military were targeting temples hospitals and schools!

I wonder how close McCain was to Obama's childhood madrasa in Indonesia when he was in Vietnam?
patsagainstrats 3 years ago
Reporting by CNN in Jakarta, Indonesia and Washington, D.C., shows the allegations that Obama attended a madrassa to be false. ... "It's not (an) Islamic school. It's general," Winadijanto said. "There is a lot of Christians, Buddhists, also Confucian. ... So that's a mixed school."
A madrasa is islamic only!

I hope the lib 527's are stupid enough to roll out these smears on a genuine American hero like John McCain. I'd love to see it backfire, just like the moron-dot-org Petraeus ad.
patsagainstrats 3 years ago
What smears?
McCain does GRADUATED BOTTOM FIFTH of his class.
And his POW experience doesn't translate into presidential experience.
Besides Clark outrank him and even outhero him.
After all he fought battle in Vietnam and WON, hence why he got the SILVER STAR.
laleeloolelo 3 years ago
Clark failed miserably in his bid for the Democrat nomination last cycle. And unlike Republicans, Democrats throw their defeated politicians under the bus for the next new thing. Clark is history to your party, just like Gore, Kerry, Hillary ect. When Obama loses, and he will, the Democrats will view him as a political pariah as well.
patsagainstrats 3 years ago
Uh Pat, the fact that Clark is used to counter McCain proves that he's not "under the bus".
And so do Gore, Kerry, Hillary etc.
After all THEY ARE OUT THERE CAMPAIGNING FOR OBAMA (As far as i know heh heh).
laleeloolelo 3 years ago
Yet they're damaged goods as legitimate candidates for future runs at the Democrat Party nomination for president. Democrats are always looking for the new Messiah, as is the case with Obama. You can't be the Democrat Messiah after an emotional, humiliating loss. It brings up too many bad memories.
patsagainstrats 3 years ago
Um Pat, Gore, Kerry, Clark are still popular. Gore EVEN WINS NOBEL PEACE PRIZE!
Besides wasn't it McCain WHO LOST THE NOMINATION IN 2000?
Wouldn't that "brings up too many bad memories"?
laleeloolelo 3 years ago
History has shown that while many generals were good at their jobs in the military, some our best were a bit unhinged.
The "Mad Bomber of Kosovo" was also a Clinton operative. Dropping Hillary in order to advise Obama also makes him an opportunist, worse than Governor Bill Richardson(D-NM).
patsagainstrats 3 years ago
A worse opportunist even than Senator John McCain?!?!?! Gasp, horror, I didn't think that was possible.

And George Bush, you forgot to mention George Bush. And Dick Cheney. And Donald Rumsfeld. And Ronald Reagan. And Trent Lott. And Big Joooohhhhnnn Cornyn. And Giuliani. And Fred Thompson. And Mitt Romney. And Dennis Hastert. And Dick Armey. And George Allen. And Jeb Bush. And Karl Rove. And Newt Gingrich. And Rick Santorum. And Bill Frist. I'm sure, because you're such an honest man, that you simply forgot, in your patriotic fervor, to name those particular rats.
eirefrance 3 years ago
How come Obama didn't serve in the military? He didn't serve, yet he wants to invade Pakistan? According to the liberal definition, I guess Obama qualifies as a "chickenhawk."
patsagainstrats 3 years ago
The difference is I, since I'm so much smarter (and more elite) than you, I don't actually think military service matters to be a good president. And, as recent elections have shown, the American people don't either. I was just pointing out your lack of integrity, not any actual fault in any politician.
eirefrance 3 years ago
You're right, Democrats only use military veterans when the political climate deems it advantageous for them. Even then, as with the '06 mid-terms, they could barely hold their nose long enough to vote a couple into office, only a fraction of those who ran as Democrats.
patsagainstrats 3 years ago
your a complete idiot..... Obama said if the pakistan government doesnt take out terrorist targets in the NE mountains obama would do it for them.... You know thats where the terrorists actually are right? not so much in iraq.... the real threat is in the afghan/pakistan mountains... You make it sound like he wanted to attack pakistan, as in their people or military... there is strong intelligence that says the threat in that area is too big too ignore
captainstabbin123 3 years ago
Yes, and Pakistan has sacrificed more blood in the War on Terror than all of the non-American NATO troops combined.

France is not an enemy you jack ass.
politicalfarce 3 years ago
Guys, guys, guys, its a joke. The incident Ratsagainstpats was referring to with Clark bombing the Chinese embassy in Belgrade was when one of Clark's subordinates wanted it bombed over the objection of our French allies, either because the embassy was being used as a support center for the Serbs or as a mistake. I was just poking fun at a man who obviously, by his ridiculous name, hates France and everything about it.
eirefrance 3 years ago
I have no issues with France now that they have adopted a center-right outlook on the world. Sarkozy is a good man. Let's hope he keeps his beautiful wife out of the cross-hairs of ex-president, Bill Clinton.

Why do Americans salivate over the military service of their presidents. Is that the kind of country you want? A country who thinks a military man is the best type of leader for their country. How about a scholar or someone highly educated in foreign and domestic affairs. How about the smartest person for president? How about someone who actually knows something?
