Was the scoop already in the container? would be a different story if the scoop was on the counter and the bird decided to go get it as a scoop rather than if it was in the container "blocking" access to the food nd the bird realised on trying to remove it that food was on it, I didnt notice any concious effort from the bird to get more food on it other than when it appeared to accidently drop it at the start. I could be wrong as we do not know what happened before you had time to get the camera
Not really using it as a scoop, so much as the scoop was in there, had some food in it, and she just lifted it out and ate the contents until it was empty. I kept waiting to see her scoop up more, but when it was gone she just gave up. It wouldn't be difficult to actually teach her to scoop, though, if you have the patience. :)
i have a nanday as well. they are amazing pets! Mine is very smart as well, and they are also very cuddly! mines been around for going on 22 years this year.... shes up there
If you give a crow a glass of water with the level too low for him to reach with his beak, he'll stick rocks in it until the water rises high enough without any training.
Birds are really, really good at figuring out solutions to problems.
Their food is not any more expensive than dog food or cat food. However, their cages and toys can get quite expensive -- depending on the size of the bird. Why are you desperate?
love it!! yes, a real cutie! Do you think you think you could get a video of him doing that? If you can, post it on YouTube and make sure you send me a video reply -- i do so want to see him. :)
hi - i saw you're a 'land before time' fan too. as you may have guessed, our chomper baby was named after the 'gentle warrior' rex from that movie (and it was a cool pun for a parrot). ;)
i was 7 when the first land before time came out and they are still making movies. what is it now? the land before time 100 little foot becomes a teenager. XD
on a side note, did you know what happened to Judith Barsi? it's horrible. she was the voice of ducky(land before time) and ann-marie(all dogs go to heaven). may she rest in peace
Very CUTE

My Nanday uses "tools" all the time. his favorite is a bottle cap to dip in the food or water and eat that way.
What A cutie pie!
