I work in a no kill shelter, and I know how people tend to blow things out of proportion with our own animal control. A lot of people were angry about the death of dogs and cats... but they're honestly trying to save the lives as best as they can. All of the staff keeps the dogs and cats as long as they can, often sending pleas to shelters like us and various rescue operations. I don't know about this heartstick thing, it doesn't sound like any self-respecting animal shelter would do.

@Canhinkley I'm not in NC, so like I said, I don't know about the heartstick. Our local animal control doesn't use that, and we recieve multiple calls each week from them begging us to make room for animals who just don't have enough time. We and other shelters take as many as we can, but we need more space. It costs money to house dogs and cats. we only have 15 kennels (including 5 isolation kennels) and a single room for cats with 8 isolation cages.

Respond to this video... Heartsticking when the animal is not tranquilized to an almost comatose state is ILLEGAL! When Jeff Bass was there, not one dog was tranquilized prior to heartstick. It took one dog almost 2 hours to die an agonizing death. He didn't give a damn whether they hit the heart or not. I believe it's still going on in the form of Lori Baxter!!!!! She, apparently doesn't take (drag) them to a 'room', no, it's done right there in the kennel!

I agree with these comments! They dont deserve to die! they should be given a second chance even up to 1000 chances! but if they have to put them down it shouldnt be with gassing or heart sticking. at least make there death less painful!

PLEASE don't waste your money on a pet store animal.

PLEASE don't buy from local backyard breeders.

The only way to stop this is to take the profit away.

The American Kennel Club and other breeder groups claims there is 'no pet overpopulation problem' and that this is all staged to make them look bad.

Any person who believes that only needs to make a short trip to their local municipal animal shelter and ask what their euthanasia rate is...

Thank you for sharing this & to others who see it/comment please spread the word. I am an animal advocate & help with campaigning/raising awareness of animal cruelty cases as well as rescue centres/organisations. I wept over this as I have over much of the material I deal with but it just makes me all the more determined to do something to get it stopped. Robeson is one of the worst, the screams as they are murdered can be heard from outside. PLEASE HELP. Thank you x

The puppy millers and anyone who purposely hurts animals should get the "heart stick." In hell they will, and much worse.
