is it possible to load up there a sample like a piano key or some and use it as an vsti plugin? so i can play the sample like an piano vsti? when i load up my sample into the step sequencer it only play the sample shortly (original). but is it possible to play it as long i press the key on my keyboard? sorry for my broken english ;) i hope you understand my request and you can help me out ;)
everything went good until it came to clicking the home icon. its not saving what i sampled. ive done it atleast 6 times n still no luck saving the vst i sampled. help please.
hey i tried sampling a number of plugins including fl studio bundled plugins as well as 3rd party....i ran into a problem, when i sample a plugin, wen the notes get mapped to the keyboard they are not the same pitch or mapped the same as the orignal plugin has them mapped...for example i played a C Major chord on direct wave and then i played a C Major from the original plugin and it was to completely different pitches....is there a way i can have it sound and mapped the same as the original vst
@Valliant2007 - You free up CPU (since sample playback uses virtually no CPU vs VST synthesis that can use a lot). You don't need to free up a VST as you can duplicate them on as many channels as you want.
@Hasta8meBenny - Not ATM, but something is planned. You could drive the MIDI gear from a MIDI Out and record that into edison. Edison can then auto-slice the file into notes. Not perfect but quicker than complete manual sampling.
EVerytime I get a VST sampled and loaded up and when I try to send it to a friend, for some reason his Direct wave doesnt load up the sample. What's wrong? :S
You wouldn't believe how this saved me from frustrations of using NI Kore Player.
I've sampled this way "Standing Jazz Bass" from Kore Player, but also I set "Velocity Splits" to 3(VERY IMPORTANT!), that way DirectWave picked up, or should I say "recognized" different velocity changes in original "Standing Jazz Bass" patch from Kore Player. That means when you have louder notes, the sound is changing, like it should be.Main problem was that KP sometimes "swallows" some notes and eats RAM.
These videos are really great, as they show a lot of things that you didn't know existed. Like this.. I've never used DirectWave, and I'm not sure I ever will. But now one extremly useful feature that I would never have discovered on my own. Thanks!
damn.. i'm so proud of this daw... it has soooOOOooo many surprises under it's surface.. a very very very.. useful tool for me, when i'm using my laptop. this is like the samplerobot.., but what directwave can do is "fundamentally" the same thing, isn't it?
@Agniveshbaghel - No use for this video, just a quick way of knowing you have a VST rather than native plugin loaded. Press F1 in the manual and search 'Wrapper settings' to learn about the options there.
It would be SOOO cool if it let you sample Re-Wired Patches. For instance, If I wanted to use Reason via Re-Wire, I could just sample the patch, that way I wouldn't have to have both FL and Reason open at the same time. But this is still cool.
it worked but the sound quality got diminished. lost a lot of high end brightness. :-(

SomeRandomZeke 8 months ago
@SomeRandomZeke - It only auto-samples VST plugins.

I presume it would work with Nexus, Omnisphere also?
The only downer from what i can see is there is no Envelope?
Valliant2007 1 year ago
So basically you route your Vst patches into Direct Wave where they are saved.
Allowing you to delete or free up that Vst for diff sounds?

Does this save cpu? If i sample all my vst plugins in a project with DirectWave?
Pr0ducin9 1 year ago
@Pr0ducin9 - Yes. Sample playback is much less CPU intensive than synthesis.

Would it be legal to sell the sampled .wav files? As long as you bought/own the vst plugin of course.
