Hate to burst your bubbles guys... but this really doesn't exactly look like the most difficult intrument to bust out some improv with on your first try... Try picking up a cello is you never have before.
I'm convinced that eventually, JR will run out of talent, and the planet will cave in on itself. But until that happens, keep rockin the strange instruments!
In whole steps starting from A0 at the first string and going up to A5 at string 24. So it has a five octave range that starts a 5th below the lowest note on a standard electric bass and ends a fourth below the highest note on a 22 fret electric guitar.
Very cool, I hope Dream Theater incorporates this into their music some time :). I feel like getting one, even though I'd never get good at it since I can't even play piano very well.
well on keyboard hes perfect - thats 2 dimensions. now theres three to go. i guess if you make out the whole connections this thing can offer then its must be absefuckinabsolutesefuckingamazing. fuck!
yeah.....uhm... what you just said is what's so special about it, what were you expecting anyway? Its a different take on the guitar, its probably a lot more free in terms of open strings and stuff....
I love Rudess, he can figure out any instrument. I like the sound of that instrument too, it sounds real smooth, you guys did a good job. Maybe I'll get to hear it on the next dream theater album.

Sweet! A two dimensional instrument! Now if only they could invent a four dimensional synthesizer just for JR...

Its physically impossible for his body and mind to suck at doing any task ever. Wish my mind was like that.

it helps to have music theory... that and being a child prodigy at age 9 going to a top music school for classical musical education..
fox4488 2 years ago 24
Music theory's basically how you improvise (or at least improvise well), and, well, the whole child genius thing helps too :P.

I KNOW! I love the guy, but every time I listen to him I realize how feeble my mere mortal talents are to a dude like him.

¡That instrument is very interessant!
¿Is that instrument based on any old instrument? ¿Or was it really created nowadays?
HGozzer 3 years ago
it could be based on the design of the tsimbalom or the koto
